She Needs Some Good News

Good grief! I’ve linked to a blogger who believes I’m a hateful psychotic. If you contact her via e-mail (no commenting system), step lightly!

I was reading Colossians this morning and wanted to quote one of my favorite verses on the deity of Christ:

“He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on the earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers.

All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.” Colossians 1:13-17

When I read comments by people like the blogger who thinks I’m a psycho, I’m reminded that when I speak out against the damage of an ungodly agenda like liberalism, moral relativism or whatever it may be, I must do so in love because the Gospel message is offensive enough.

For example, the blogger writes:

“Rev. Peterson’s ‘most important insight’ — his ‘blueprint for true freedom’ — is that black Americans should ‘[restore] God’s order to the family (husband is the head of the wife, as Christ is the head of his church.)’

Oh, okay. Because that makes sense. I know that, as a single mom, the one thing that would improve my life most would be a reformed ex-con reading the Bible aloud at the head of my dinner table and then having me wash his feet with my hair every night. Sure – that’d be super wicked awesome!”

Not only does she misrepresent Rev. Peterson’s words, she misses the whole point of what God’s design for the family is.

God’s pattern of the family is the man as head of the family (not the ruler) as Christ is head of His church. What does Christ think of His church? He loves His church, He cherishes it and will usher it into His Kingdom! He protects His church and prays for the saints. The marital relationship is a reflection of Christ’s relationship with us. Am I missing something “wrong” about God’s pattern for the family?

The woman is equal to the man spiritually and in the eyes of God but was made as a helpmate for the man, raising godly children and maintaining a godly household. Read Proverbs 31, and check out this ministry. The doctrine of feminism has wreaked havoc on the family.

Because of man’s falleness, that pattern has been broken. Some women are bitter about having to raise children alone and some men are deadbeats who don’t support their kids, but that’s the result of sin in the world.

The Good News of Jesus Christ is that yes, even an ex-con can be redeemed. Although none of us deserves salvation, God, in His infinite mercy, saves those who repent of their sins and accept His death on the cross as atonement for their sins. What a wonderful blessing it is to be forgiven for all your dirty, vile sins and washed by the cleansing blood of our Lord and Savior!

Becoming a new creation in Christ has a miraculous way of melting away bitterness. It did for me…
