The people-hating animal lovers over at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) just crossed the line this time! They’re asking blacks to support an advertising campaign against Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC). Self-appointed “black leaders” with nothing better to do than associate themselves with this are Kweisi Mfume (who?), Cornel West (a Princeton professor), Russell Simmons (a rap music person) and Richard Pryor (?).
I think I’ve finally heard everything.
Now I have to be careful because I can get in a lot of trouble with this one. It has less to do with black people and fried chicken, and more to do with black people and radical groups like PETA. Blacks typically don’t support radical feminists, environmentalists and groups like PETA. Which is why they’ve dragged out so-called black leaders.
It’s strange. Blacks give all those votes to pro-child killing candidates, but they suddenly become independent-minded when it comes to extreme causes from groups like PETA. In my opinion, blacks who eat at KFC couldn’t care less how the chickens are treated as long as the birds are cooked right! I’ll move on.
Killing Me Softly
One quiet Saturday morning I saw this article in the Washington Post, “Water in D.C. Exceeds EPA Lead Limit.” I see. The matter-of-fact story lead (pardon the pun) was sort of subtle:
Tap water in thousands of District houses has recently tested above the federal limit for lead contamination, a new phenomenon that has baffled the D.C. Water and Sewer Authority and forced the agency to begin replacing service pipes.
No heads-up, no big news reports. High levels of lead have been found in D.C. tap water. OK. I don’t drink it, but I do bathe in it. Does that count?
Well I get up this morning and see this headline: “Water Agency Fired Manager Who Warned of D.C. Lead.” A government cover-up!
So according to the Environmental Protection Agency, lead poisoning can cause nerve disorders (That everyone is still talking about Janet Jackson’s breast is getting on my last nerve), memory and concentration problems (I just hate it when…when…uh), muscle and joint pain (I’ve been sitting in this chair too long) and other unpleasant things.
I’m just a cog in the machine, anyway. We’ll talk later. I got to go stretch my aching muscles…
