One of the great things about the outcome of the presidential election of 2000 was knowing the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) would be rendered powerless.
They more or less told Bill Clinton what to do and how to handle “black issues.” I got the impression they could summon him to a meeting whenever they wanted.
Not so under George Bush. I was ecstatic when President Bush refused to meet with them. They got angry and put out a few snippy sound bites, but that’s all the bark they had. When Republicans are in the White House, the grievance shopping CBC is left outside with the rest of the bitter power brokers.
I read with delight (I think I’m enjoying this too much) this article in The Hill: “CBC Tells Nader To Drop Out”:
[Rep. Elijah] Cummings said he is worried that Nader, who appeals to left-wing voters, would siphon votes away from Kerry, possibly giving President Bush victory.
Many Democrats blame Nader’s presidential bid in 2000 for handing Bush the keys to the White House. Nader’s share of the vote in two crucial states, Florida and New Hampshire, was bigger than Bush’s margin of victory there. Had the then-vice president, Al Gore, carried either state, he would now be in the White House.
Left-wing voters?
Do CBC members think they’re moderates? They’re racialist socialists. How much more left-wing can you get? Don’t answer that.
Ralph Nader doesn’t seem like the sort of man who’d be intimidated by a bunch of publicity-hungry politicians, even if they’re black. Check out my column from 12/18/02, “Raucous Black Caucus” (I have a column for every occasion, don’t I?).
The CBC shouldn’t worry too much. Ninety percent of the “black vote” will go to John Kerry regardless. The Democrats need blacks to win elections and they’ve got them in their pockets.
Check out this article about the CBC, “Racism in Congress: The Black Caucus”:
If anyone wonders why so many black individuals born in America still wallow in poverty and crime while wave after wave of destitute, non-English-speaking refugees from all over the globe — from Eastern Europe to Korea to Viet Nam to Africa — escape to America and quickly thrive, one need look no further than the fact that many American blacks accept the anti-individualist, racist ideas of the Black Caucus and other so-called “black leaders.”
If you think like a socialist, who waits for the group to think and produce for him, you will remain poor like a socialist. And if you think like a racist, who expects his skin color or blood to do all the thinking he needs, you will never experience genuine pride.
To think there was a time I actually thought like a socialist because I didn’t know any better! So many blacks out there think like this and aren’t exposed to blacks who don’t. This is why I write.
