Why is President Bush not speaking at the dinosaur’s national convention? Let Chairman Julian Bond tell you why:
“They preach racial neutrality and practice racial division….They’ve tried to patch the leaky economy and every other domestic problem with duct tape and plastic sheets. They write a new constitution of Iraq and they ignore the Constitution here at home.” (Source- registration required)
“Their idea of equal rights is the American flag and the Confederate swastika flying side by side….They draw their most rabid supporters from the Taliban wing of American politics. Now they want to write bigotry back into the Constitution….They preach racial neutrality and they practice racial division.” (Source)
“He has selected nominees from the Taliban wing of American politics, appeased the wretched appetites of the extreme right wing, and chosen Cabinet officials whose devotion to the Confederacy is nearly canine in its uncritical affection.” (Source)
President Bush’s gentlemanly response:
“I would describe my relationship with the current leadership [of the NAACP] as basically nonexistent….You’ve heard the rhetoric and the names they’ve called me.” (Source)
Yes, I have heard, Mr. Bush. I commend you for snubbing the NAACP. Without a Democrat in the White House, the NAACP social club is powerless and showing its frustration. Stay on the high ground and don’t let them get you down.
See Ramblings’ Journal for more on the NAACP.
