Am I A Constitutionalist?

Would it be easier to go through life as a constitutionalist (is that what they call themselves?)? From the Constitution Party web site:

The pre-born child, whose life begins at fertilization, is a human being created in God’s image. The first duty of the law is to prevent the shedding of innocent blood. It is, therefore, the duty of all civil governments to secure and to safeguard the lives of the pre-born…We affirm the God-given legal personhood of all unborn human beings, without exception. As to matters of rape and incest, it is unconscionable to take the life of an innocent child for the crimes of his father.

They’re speaking my language.

We reject the policies and practices that permit women to train for or participate in combat. Because of the radical feminization of the military over the past two decades, it must be recognized that these “advances” undermine the integrity and morale of our military organizations by dual qualification standards and forced integration.

Controversial (isn’t everything?), but I agree. Women should not be in combat.

The Constitution Party will uphold the right of states and localities to restrict access to drugs and to enforce such restrictions.

Illegal drugs should remain illegal. Three strikes and you’re out!

Because the federal government has absolutely no jurisdiction concerning the education of our children, the United States Department of Education should be abolished; all federal legislation related to education should be repealed.

Three cheers! I heard that Ronald Reagan wanted to abolish this money guzzler. But if the feds have no jurisdiction over education, federal voucher plans would be abolished. Not cool for poor kids in D.C.

American troops must serve only under American commanders, not those of the United Nations or foreign countries.

What red-blooded American would disagree?

The right to keep and bear arms is guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the Constitution; it may not properly be infringed upon or denied.

That’s right.

The Constitution Party opposes the governmentalization and bureaucratization of American medicine.

Ditto.

We affirm the integrity of the international borders of the United States and the Constitutional authority and duty of the federal government to guard and to protect those borders, including the regulation of the numbers and of the qualifications of immigrants into the country.

Hear that, President “Amnesty Plan” Bush?

We propose legislation to abolish the Internal Revenue Service, and will veto any authorization, appropriation, or continuing resolution which contains any funding whatsoever for that illicit and unconstitutional agency.

Yes!

These guys are reading my mind. The Constitution Party stands for everything I stand for. So why am I not a constitutionalist? Because third parties don’t win elections. Republicans are the lesser of two evils, so George Bush, here I come!
