Thanks to Townhall.com linking to the transcript of a speech given at Conservative University 2004, I’ve received many new visitors today. Welcome to my weblog, my favorite hobby. Take a look around, relax and join in on the discussions if you like.
This is driving me crazy so I have to get it out. Pardon the typos (4!) in the transcript. It was for my eyes only as I prepared and read it, so I didn’t proofread it carefully. A copy was requested and in my haste to send it, I neglected to do my usual scrutinizing.
Now that I gave you my excuse, I hope you come again!

Congratulations on your new look and ever-growing popularity – you’ve a great voice and I’m proud to “know” you. Best wishes for your continuing success.
La Shawn, I’ll echo Smooth on that. Most of your loyal readers know that your popularity is destined to grow based on the quality of your message.
Good job, congratulations!

Glad we agree on a lot; thanks for having me on your blogroll.
The press is the (secular fundamentalist) enemy of Pres. Bush (pro-Christian believer who trys to ACT on his beliefs).
I’m happy to have found this site! Also, hats off to you La Shawn for taking time to write me back.

The funny thing is: I’ve been reading you for months, I’ve had you on the blogroll for months, you’re one of my favorite bloggers, and today my mom sends me your speech through Accuracy in Academia.
She thought it was pretty good, so she sent it to me, not aware that I was already an avid reader.
MY COMMENTS TO ACCURACY IN MEDIA ON THIS ARTICLE:
SENT TO mal.kline@academia.org
————————-
Excellent article by LaShawn Barber based on her talk at at Accuracy in Academia’s summer conference held at Georgetown University. However I take issue with one of her statements as shown below:
“With Hispanic immigrants surpassing blacks in minority status, they’ll increasingly benefit from so-called affirmative action although they can’t claim to have suffered from the effects of past discrimination in this country..”
———————————————–
In fact Hispanics, while not suffering to the same extent as blacks from almost 250 years of slavery, or almost a century of Jim Crow segregation, have endured some past discrimination in housing, employment etc. The record clearly shows this.
She could have also mentioned that affirmative action has been a disaster internationally, resulting in violent race riots, turmoil and ethnic strife in societies as diverse as India, Malaysia and Fiji, accompanied by a campaign of cynical hypocrisy and deception by elites determined to impose this failed policy. It generally has not helped the poor masses in whose name it is often invoked. The powerful writings of Thomas Sowell such as “Affirmative Action: An International Perspective”, prove this beyond all doubt.
But all in all an effective piece by LaShawn who I think will soon be know as the “black Ann Coulter” or perhaps it will be the other way around, Coulter as the “white LaShawn Barber”! Either way, it we need more hard hitting female commentators.

Thanks, everyone. Trevorwest, welcome to the blog.
You’ve certainly been busy blogging on your great new site lately.
I saw that the transcript of your speech was mentioned on the Michigan Review blog, and wanted to point it out. The writer’s argument causes me to wonder whether anyone can call for affirmative action to be stopped without being either a racist, or a hypocrite.
I read your speech through Accuracy in Academia. OK, I’m a fan!
