It is really refreshing to see another minority who gets offended at Affirmative Action. My college counselor was shocked that I refused a scholarship simply because my father was born in another country. I told I want merits to get me in, not race or skin color.

And as for Jesse Jackson, well, that’s a whole different story. I’ll be back to read more about him! He is a dangerous man.

wrote an article, The Freedom to Resist, that includes the following:

LOSING ONE’S RELIGION
A few years ago, I was on a panel with a gentleman who had for many years pastored one of the largest inner-city black churches in Connecticut. He described to me a meeting of ministers of several large urban black churches at which they discussed the continuous litigation attempting to strip Roman Catholic bishops of their tax-exempt status. The plaintiffs in the suit claimed that the bishops were violating the tax code by engaging in either lobbying or, more importantly, favoring or opposing political candidates. Most people do not know about such litigation. Furthermore, no one seriously believes that any court will try to take away the tax-exempt status of the Roman Catholic bishops. The ministers had this meeting because they were terrified. They said: If, because of their political advocacy, the Roman Catholic bishops were to lose their tax-exempt status, what ramifications would this have for the various black denominations and their political involvement?

Education:

Contary to No Child Left Behind ain’t funded rhetoric, Federal funds are over budgeted.

NCLB isn’t giving out money for lack of funding; it isn’t giving it out b/c no one has yet to meet the qualifications, let alone submit their mandated plan of action. How is this Bush’s fault when congress voted for it. Is Kerry implying that he voted for the NCLB, before he voted against it by setting the release mechanism too high?

With regards to other sources of federal education funding, every State in the Union and DC is returning unused monies to the treasury.

Gotta love union leader Andy Stern for blurting out the truth about education, the need for charter schools, vouchers, etc and about disparities in labor classism

I agree with David. The current RNC looks mighty weak in regards to items 1, 2, and 4; from any kind of conservative perspective, at least.

Rope-a-dope: in the spirit of bi-partisanship, Bush signs off on all the big-ticket items, in exchange for a coup de grâce later.

On the conservative front, if dismantling or reforming big government is part of his strategy for 2004 to call the liberals’ bluff, I imagine that would rally true conservatives who felt “betrayed”.

On the liberal front, a couple of weeks ago, Steven den Beste wrote “A Masterstroke:

…Even if the Democrats weren’t revealing themselves as incompetent clowns, come October they would still find themselves in deep trouble.

So what I conclude is that the next Bush “masterstroke” is going to be the November election. The Republicans and the Bush administration have been biding their time, and conserving their money. They have been carefully accumulating political ammunition and have resisted the urge to expend any of it too soon. They’ve laid the groundwork for a very effective campaign this autumn, and the Democrats are going to get routed.

Last October I wrote an analysis of the American party system and primary process and tried to show why it meant that the Democrats had no hope of winning the White House next November. In that post, I said:

Any political position or locus of policies which is viable within the Democratic primary process will be fatal in the general election. Any locus of policies which would be even remotely viable in the general election (such as the one held by Lieberman) is fatal within the primary process. Like Groucho Marx, who said that he wouldn’t want to belong to any club which would have him, the Democrats will refuse to nominate any candidate who actually would have a chance of winning.

I still feel comfortable with the analysis in that article. As a presidential candidate, Kerry is deeply vulnerable. The Republicans are carefully preparing the groundwork for a full-scale assault on his greatest weaknesses. Once they open up active hostilities, it’s actually going to end up being very much like the other Bush masterstrokes, where everything changes permanently and no one can again look at the fundamental issues the same way…

Bush posing as a Trojan chimp boy, until he’s well inside the moonbat walls; stuff like this is what keeps my hopes alive.
