I just finished a radio interview on the “The Lynne Breidenbach Show” on WTWB Florida Talks. Lynne contacted me after reading the NRO article.
Her voice made me think of Janet Parshall, who I really like. I thought we were going to talk about the Kerry attack ads apprearing on black radio stations. I’m sort of glad we didn’t. Instead, we talked about the weblogging phenomenon, the need for more bloggers like the Conservative Brotherhood, why blacks keep voting for Democrats, etc. I announced the blog address over the air a few times.
With each show I’m less nervous. Before long, Rush will be calling me to sit in for him.
Can you imagine?

With all your attributes, I can imagine.
I need to listen to the radio much more often than I have.
Hubba, hubba!
why set your goals so low? you should have your own show.
(then you could have US stand in for you!)
La Shawn, i don’t need to imagine…i’m expecting. and because you have already turned me down for a public servant role, i’ll just have to settle for you being a columnist or commentor in a major newspaper or TV like Fox News or something. Your voice must be heard loud and clear on a national medium (radio and even better TV) one way or another beyond just the blogsphere and ocassional interviews.
Nah, you’re better than Rush. Raditionale is in, pedantic is out. And with women taking over, as we men have always feared would happen, you don’t need to be held back.
Hey, don’t bust on Rush! Like ‘em or hate ‘em … I think he’s done a lot for spreading the conservative word (and dare I say, making it “cool” in certain circles.) “They” say that conservative have taken over the media … but nothing is further from the truth. We don’t need someone to take over for Rush … we need someone to take over for Katie Couric, and her ilk…
Thanks, guys! I could get into doing a radio show. But only if I have control over the “cut off” button.
I think if you guested for Rush Mrs. Williams might get jealous
Right on, La Shawn!
I look forward to it
I can imagine.
I would have to say “DITTO” La Shawn, RUSH has set the standard for all talk shows, He’s good, got to give him his props, but you continue to represent, and you will be next in line. Right on, my sista.
Sitting in for “The Godfather” wouldn’t be the worst thing that could happen…
By the way, like the new picture.
I’m experimenting. I don’t like any of my photos. I need a professional headshot done.
La Shawn,
Gosh, I go out of town for a couple of days and all kinds of things happen! Like I’ve been saying, you are headed for much greater media recognition. I don’t think having your own show is too far out of the question.
Oh, and I have to agree with William, I like the new photo too. But then, I have liked all of your photos, even if you have not:-)
Neat! Maybe you’ll be like James Lileks and get frequent calls from the show, be a regular guest commentator…
FWIW, I didn’t even notice the new pic. The only thing I would possibly change is the background – your hair kinda gets lost in the dark background, so it’s hard to see where your head ends
OOH, OOH!! I know, Lashawn!!! How about a we start with a Walter “E” Williams/Lashawn Barber…Open Line Friday…co-host gig? DDDa Bomb.
Furthermore…..Williams & Parker. What better two mentors to have? And it is said in Buddhism, Ms. Barber, that “if you do not climb and stand on the shoulders of your mentor, you decrease his/her value by half”.
Thus, you kinda represent the next generation of great black conservative thinker-doers, whom I believe get a bad rap sometimes for not begging, err, “courting” black voters to use our brains & THINK about issues (and liberal inaction).
You know how it goes – seems like democrats little and nothing, yet they get 100% of the slave vote from 90% of the black community?? Not for long with the new & improved next generation of proteges developing – right along with the critical thinking ability of the black voter’s mind. Once again, based on the voting record alone, most of us do seem unable to make and beyond ANY possible change in the black vote. Gluttons for liberal punishment, I suppose.
Then again, as NRO reported, looks like the slave catchers aint doin a very good job. Yeeeeehah!! Catch me if you can!!
I’m fittn to email Mr. Limbaugh. Gone!!
LaShawn, congratulations! Keep up the good work.
La Shawn … I would say more shoulders (in the headshot.) Of course, I always enjoy the mystery of NO picture. Keeps ‘em guessing
I like that dinosaur picture you put up everytime you talk about the NAACP. LOL
Funny the comments here today. Just before I awakened this morning, I was dreaming of a perfect world, one in which La Shawn Barber had her own nationally syndicated radio show. Seriously, that was my dream! But, then I looked at your pic–you definitely DON’T have one of those faces that’s “made for radio”!
How kind you are, Katy! While I wouldn’t turn down a TV guest spot or two, I wouldn’t mind radio.
I know Deb would be a constant listener, as would I. The big talk radio station out here is WLS. And as much as I like Sean Hannity, his show is tape delayed, I would love to hear you live. The more enightened talk show hosts we can here the better. Btw, nice pic in the corner.
