From the Associated Press:
A claim of responsibility for the downing of two Russian planes appeared on a Web site known for militant Muslim comment Friday. The statement, which accused Russians of killing Muslims in Chechnya, was signed “the Islambouli Brigades.” A group with a similar name has claimed at least one previous attack, but the legitimacy of the group and the authenticity of such statements could not be verified.
Russian officials have said terrorism was the most likely cause of Tuesday’s plane crashes, which killed 89 people.
“We in the Islambouli Brigades announce that our holy warriors managed to hijack two Russian planes and were crowned with success though they faced problems at the beginning,” the statement said without elaborating on the problems.
This is the epitome of evil, just in case some of you don’t know what it looks like.
See stories from the Herald Sun and the BBC. But, alas, there’s good news. The “holy” temple in Najaf is still standing! All’s well with the world! Maybe the Islamofacists hiding in our country (and laughing at our suicidal stupidity) will take their toys and go home now.
Or not.

Update I: Muslims For Bush
(Hat tip: One Hand Clapping)
Update II: I just heard on the news that homicidal bombers brought down the two planes. Looks like the Russians will have to impanel an 8/24 Commission. Islamofascism must be contained by any means necessary.
Update III: This is a darn shame: Al Qaeda May Target Veterans Hospitals, U.S. Says. Just think, some of the potential Middle Eastern thug murderers may have slipped in through our southern border. We’ll certainly here about it if any veterans hospital is attacked.

back in 1949 there was a movie called “Battleground”. it was about the 101st airborne at Bastogne and had a lot of vets in the cast…..anyway, there is a scene in the film where a Lutheran Chaplain, portrayed by actor Leon Ames, gives a little flag-waving sermon that plays on a common war-time advertisement asking civilians before they traveled on congested trains and buses if “This trip was really necessary”.
I wish that our government would straighten out that hump in their collective backs, put their hats on straight, roll their sleeves up and declare that this trip WAS necessary, once and for all. Then they should unleash our boys and let them get done what has to be done so that they can make the return trip a little quicker.
If we don’t let those boys take the war to the bad guys and prosecute that war agressively, that necessary trip might as well not have been taken.
Stop treating combat troops like policemen, let them do what they are good at.
Dear Estupido Spain,
Now you see what happens when you join the Iraq War & War on Terror, jumping in TOTALLY and wholeheartedly as did Russia and France? You get your butt bombed to smithereenees right out the sky. Funerals in 2 weeks….if you can find anyone.
Oops!!! They didn’t join, did they? My bad.
So much for Battered Nation’s Syndrome……..”but they can change!! They won’t physically abuse, err, KILL US anymore!!” Stakes is high, people, stakes is high.
Sincerely, The Moral and Mighty,
Aint Got No Other Cheek To Turn,
U…..S……of A!!!!
cc France – the cheese eating surrender monkeys
and
Russia – a country learning a tough lesson
Frankly, I am pleased that we don’t have to destroy the mosque, just as I am that the Israelis didn’t have to destroy the Church of the Nativity a couple of years ago.
And notice — it was a senior Islamic cleric that got him out of the place, cooperating with the US and the new Iraqi government.
Me, too. I don’t want buildings blown up anywhere in the world, especially on our own soil. I’ll just be glad when this “war” is over.
Back in the old days of the Soviet Union, terrorists pretty much confined their activities against the Russians to the battlefield. I tend to think that this was due in part to the general impression that Soviet retribution would be swift, merciless, and total.
Of course nowadays, Russia is just another decadent European country set on oppressing Muslims. Hopefully, this episode combined with the Chechyn theater takeover of the recent past will convince the Russians as to who their real enemies are Then maybe we can get them to join this war as a full partner.
Now, if we could only convince the American left…
Russia has been fighting with Islamic terrorists for over 10 years. I do not understand the first comment regarding France and Russia and them not joining us.
Beau:
Are you somehow saying that all islamic terrorists are a monolith with the same objectives? A lesson learned. Please tell me what this has to do with Iraq, or France.
The Chechyans are Muslim terrorists. We are all in this together.
Expatlse,
It means that if I’m a terrorist and YOU are fighting a Bill Clinton or Vladimir Putin-like, weak, half-hearted & lackadaisical, and only interested in symbolic crap (like approval ratings & polls) war on terrorists……..I’m coming to kill you anyway. Air France is next.
Iraq? Let’s see. Saddam finances Hamas & whomever else wants to kill us. Putin & girly man French President Chirac were both in bed with Saddam, stealing money from the UN Oil-For-Food Program – all meant for the Iraqi people – while assuming it would spare them any terrorist attacks.
Bottom line: Lie down with dogs, my friend, somehow, someway, you will eventually get up with fleas. Or passenger planes droppin like flies, if that suits you better.
Any questions?
I question the timing of this attack. This is politics as usual from the democrat party-just as the president’s pole numbers are rising. This is an obvious diversion from the real issues of the campaign.
Beau, I’ll respond line by line:
“It means that if I’m a terrorist and YOU are fighting a Bill Clinton or Vladimir Putin-like, weak, half-hearted & lackadaisical, and only interested in symbolic crap (like approval ratings & polls) war on terrorists……..I’m coming to kill you anyway. Air France is next. ”
Symbolic? Kinda like lets get Saddam and his no WMDs to wag the dog.

Saddam doesn’t finance anyone now. I did not know Saddam financed Hamas, but what does Hamas have to do with this? Hamas generally keeps its terrorism in Israel, not Russia. I know Iran backs Hezbollah. How is Chirac a girly-man? Because he doesn’t blindly follow Bush a law Blair? Also, do not act like the US doesn’t have financial interests in Iraq. That is why they promised oil companies 30-50 year contracts for fields. However, the oil companies are scared for two reasons. 1) Not sure the contracts are legal; and 2) do not trust the security.
Bottom line: Lie down with dogs, my friend, somehow, someway, you will eventually get up with fleas. Or passenger planes droppin like flies, if that suits you better.
Lie down with dogs. We never do that!!! We only lie down with upstanding Mujahadeen in Afghanistan! We are somehow different!!!
Any questions?
My point is simple, how does Chechnya play into Russia not entering the Iraq debacle? There is no broad brush for terrorists to describe motivations, although you can do a broad brush that they are all evil.
Britain learned long ago that the massive disasters against innocent Irish Catholics only drove up membership in the IRA. Are we to think that Abu Ghraib and other problems won’t do the same?
Beau,
Why dont you criticize President Bush, he fails to stop Saudi Arabia from currently funding terrorist groups, and has failed to name them one of the axis of evil due to the fact that we are dependent upon Saudis oil.
Its Funny how you state that Putin and Clinton are weak, when Russians have been fighting muslim rebels continously, Clinton was criticized by Republicans every time he tried to use military force in order to protect ethnic cleansing and political warring.
Iraqs funding of Hamas was to the families of the suicide bombers, that doesnt create much of a incentive for hamas since they are still intent upon violent action for the independence of Palestine. If you want to go after true contributors of terrorist organizations go after Saudi Arabia which Bush certaintly wont touch due to the US dependency of their oil. Why do you believe it was Iraq which caused terrorist attacks? There is a clear difference between Al-Qaeda and the Baathist Regime perhaps you have been watching too much Fox News to know of it.
Oh, Lord have mercy. You guys, or gals, or girly men…..PLEASE give me a challenge, one worthy of a thoughtful reply – one where I can exercise my brain, maybe. You tryin to get me banned?
Goodbye to both of you.
Funny how you cant reply to unchallenging and unthoughful replies. If the replies do not make you to exercise your brain, why not simply reply to them.
Let’s not get personal, and there’s no need to deliberately provoke. Keep it civil.
hey, im just looking to discuss the issue further.
Word is that bodies of two Chechyn women (one on each plane) have not been claimed. This is a no-brainer.
The real tragedy is that the real power brokers are not “Muslim Terrorists” – they are the people who are using these people to pursue their political cause. The power brokers don’t sent their own families to meet Allah – they use these pawns to do their dirty work.
Likewise, women who blow themselves up for a cause are not in any way liberated – just the opposite, the chicken men get their women to do their dirty work.
Hey, I’m the moron with the hurt feelings over here!! Anybody got some cleanex for my bruised male ego?
Never mind. I’m goin to Miami to hang out with Fat Joe & Mr. Cheeks.
Out!!
Daniel,
The House of Saud’s Wahabbi chickens are coming home to roost. Or rather bomb. So events are stirring in that foul nest.
I believe the extemely cautious approach to S.A. is due less to it’s oil pumping, than its being the land of Medina and Mecca. You think Najaf is a “holy city?” You ain’t seen nuttin.
Cordially…
The Russians have been battling with Islam for centuries, not a decade. As has the rest of the West. This is not something new; it’s merely new to some folks. Islam periodically surges and attempts to expand its influence, is beaten back, regroups and tries again. This pattern will continue until Islam suceeds in dominating the world, or until it is crushed completely.
Mmmm,
I just had a great idea for a new chain of fast food stores…
The House of Saud Wasabi Chicken… Hot, spicy, and self cooking (if exploding can be called cooking)
Now, I know I am borrowing a John F’n Kerry line to call it wasabi, but, still, I think it works. I imagine the insurance would be pretty high (if you thought hot java and old women were a bad combination…), but I think it could be the next hot franchise…
72 vigrins with every happy meal!
Too bad Colonel Khadffi (sp) is out of the terrorism biz… he’d be great mascot to counter the DWM over at KFC… not to say that he was ever part of radical islam, but he’s the only major terrorism figure who likes to claim a military title that comes to mind (and he looks rather smart in his uniform).
Rick,
Saudi wahabbis are well situated within Saudi Arabia, with a system of fundamentalist teaching, younger generations of Saudis are becoming more fundamental in their interpretation of islamic religion. Saudi Arabia might turn out to be like Egypt in which a moderate leader is the head of the state yet cannot remove religious constraints. Saudi Arabia still funds terrorism and without change in their educational and overall societal systems it will revert to a more fundamentalist point of view.
Saudi Arabia have already been criticized for their protection of Mecca and Medina, they refused the protection of the mujahideen, al qaeda, other foreign fighters and opted for US protection in the war of im not sure if it was Iran v. Iraq, or Invasion of Kuwait. they feared Saddam would use military force and occupy them as well.
In regards to update III…..looks like some major pre election scare mongering going on to me.
‘Although U.S. authorities say there is no credible intelligence regarding a specific threat against such hospitals, the bulletin said there have been persistent reports of “suspicious activity” at medical facilities throughout the United States.’
Hmmmmmm…..

‘This pattern will continue until Islam suceeds in dominating the world, or until it is crushed completely.’
Are you serious? Maybe you arnt aware of the background of Chechnya.
“Islam periodically surges and attempts to expand its influence, is beaten back, regroups and tries again. This pattern will continue until Islam suceeds in dominating the world, or until it is crushed completely.”
That is what I call revisionism. Again, people view Islam as some monolith that has no differences within it. The Muslims of Spain were different than the Mamalukes, who were different than the Ottomans, etc. They had different beliefs regarding expansion. Some wanted to expand far (e.g. Ottomans), but that had nothing to do with “spreading Islam.” Others were happy to be where they were until they were killed or forced out (e.g. Spain–same thing done to Jews too).
The Islamic expansions had little to do with religion and a lot to do with economics and general empire building. No different than Britain, France, Spain, and Portugal. Heck, there are even some who believe that the Pope sincerely wanted the Crusades for purely religious reasons and not economic and political considerations (home and abroad).
Some went across the ocean to the Americas and enslaved thousands and forced them to convert or die. Ooops, wait . . . those were Christians.
