in War - Islamofascism

burningIt’s been three years since Islamic terrorists in our midst crawled from under their rocks and killed almost 3,000 of our countrymen. We still have Muslim terrorist cells right here in the United States waiting for the right time and place to kill more of us. The adherents of the “religion of peace” forgot to explain the peace part of the faith to these virgin-hungry lunatics.

A few good 9-11 resources: September 11 News, CNN’s “Day of Terror“, The Wall Street Journal Pulitzer Prize Winners, Time’s “A Nation Remembers.”

I haven’t heard anything about the anniversary. Why is it not making the rounds in the news?

I suspect many are trying to sweep 9/11 under the carpet. Dealing with 9/11 in a complete and definite sense involves a whole lot more than just invading Afghanistan and Iraq. But I’m not sure there are enough people out there willing to deal with Islam fundamentalism appropriately.

Imagine, I heard on the radio this morning that US officials were urging Russia to negotiate with the Chechnians separatists after their attack on the school. Can you imagine? The russians replied: “Yeah, and why don’t you negotiate with Osama Bin Laden!”

Good for them!

Again, Lord help us…

kjo 09.07.04 at 4:35 pm

9/11 is being soft-pedaled by Big Media because those memories help President Bush. ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, The New York Times and the Washington Post are all supporting Kerry. Have you seen any Big Media outlet cover the charges in the swiftboast veterans book UNFIT FOR COMMAND? I mean really investigate the charges?

Remember how they investigated Bush’s National Guard record over and over? When Kerry’s record is called into question by 252 men who served with him, the Media becomes blind and deaf. I wonder why?

I read UNFIT FOR COMMAND last weekend, it is devestating! I urge everyone to read it.

I still don’t completely understand the media’s decision-making process in regards to what gets printed and aired. Of course the left isn’t interested in terrorist stories, because it opposes their interests to suggest that terrorism is real (not to mention local!) I haven’t even seen any major media outlets publishing what I suppose is the whole truth about the torture and slaughter of children in Belsan. Laura Ingraham spoke this morning about the shooting in the backs, the burning, gouging of eyes and other atrocities that these terrorists committed against children, but I can’t find anything about this in the mainstream media. Only attacks against Russia for not compromising with terrorists. As for calling Islam a “religion of peace,” I regrettably disagree with notion that there is any truth in the assertion (Qur’an 47:3-4).

Its because the ostrich party is happy that after it got what it wanted from the 9-11 Commission, well-timed to be over before the convention, it now wants it to fade away, lest it and its fellow ostriches have to pull their heads out of the sand and see the world for what it really is.

Maybe the next attack will be on ivory towers and glass houses.

Eric 09.07.04 at 5:36 pm

I just saw a promo on Fox News for a 9/11 piece. At least one network recognizes the realities of the times in which we live.

Archangel 09.07.04 at 6:15 pm

Yeah, the mainstream media can’t completely ignore it, but its just appalling that you can sit there and observe exactly what’s going through their simplistic liberal minds. They have to talk about it, its too huge to sweep under the rug, but it would help Bush for it to be mentioned. I can actually see the smoke coming out of the heads of all thost “Journalist’s”.

Chris Roach 09.07.04 at 7:29 pm

It bothers me a great dealt that this very political event, an attack on our country’s most significant symbols, is somehow supposed to be a merely sad tragedy, rather than a political act that has political consequences. Namely, it has created justified and righteous indignation across the patriots of America and strong support for our military and the government as they deal with this menace.

Omar 09.07.04 at 7:40 pm

9/11 isnt making the rounds as there are obviously very important, PRESENT issues going on. Im sure when the date itself comes, there will be much media coverage. Its constant media coverage may help Bush, but maybe not. After all, after 2 invasions of sovreign nations Osama Bin Laden has failed to be bought to justice, and Al Qaeda, the extreme MINORITY group responsible is still still at large. I notice you use the anniversary to take a cheap swipe at Islam. Why cant you just condemn those responsible, and mourn innocent deaths instead of provoking hatred?

‘Remember how they investigated Bush’s National Guard record over and over?’

Bush’s record is still in question, and so it should be….much more so than Kerry’s. Bush failed to volunteer for service in Vietnam, and even he admits his military track record doesnt compete with Kerry’s. Bush also has unexplained abscences in his national guard duty, and has been seen in photos wearing medals he didnt earn. I find it ironic how Bush supporters can zealously attack Kerry’s record, when their chosen candidate has an EXTREMELY patchy one.

La Shawn 09.07.04 at 7:49 pm

Omar, are you an American? Just curious.

Omar 09.07.04 at 7:53 pm

‘Omar, are you an American?’

Im still a British citizen, but i currently live in America. Im considering applying for citizenship. Identity crisis….

5thSister 09.07.04 at 9:12 pm

Omar,
Kerry didn’t really volunteer either.
He got his draft notice, and applied for a student defferal, to study abroad. Having already graduated college, and not having a school already sined up for abroad, the draft board said no.
So he applied for the naval reserve, and requested state-side duty. Didn’t get state-side duty. So he went out on a missle cruiser that was escorting cargo across the pacific.
Then he asked to transfer to the swift boats, after a year aboard the Gridley. When he asked for swift boat service, they were doing low risk coastal patrols. After he was assigned there, the navy made them a brown water unit.
Now, flying a jet, and volunteering to do so, is hardly taking the easy way out.
And the more we learn about Kerry’s service, the shoddier his becomes. I’ve always wondered why my uncles thought he was such a rat (beyond his senate testimony in the early 70s), but they always said what’s in the past, is in the past, let it die. Now I am starting to see why they have hated him so.

Laura 09.07.04 at 10:34 pm

We went all over Bush’s National Guard record four years ago. He’s been President since, and love him or hate him, you know how he has performed and what his next four years would probably be like. To talk about his NG record now is like asking a Ph.D. mathematician about his 9th grade Algebra report card.

abraxas 09.08.04 at 12:39 am

‘Now, flying a jet, and volunteering to do so, is hardly taking the easy way out.’

Noone is arguing that, but flying a jet intended for Alabama or Texas was not the same as flying one over Vietnam/Cambodia. The risk for injury goes up a notch for people who had to actively serve in some capacity in Vietnam.

‘And the more we learn about Kerry’s service, the shoddier his becomes.’

Some of his wounds might have been superficial, but does that mean his service in Vietnam was ’shoddy’?

We do know how our president performed over the last 3 1/2 years; I hope we don’t have to continually rehash things that happened 30 years ago. But if we must, I think it’s only fair that we include what both candidates did 30 years ago.

John 09.08.04 at 12:55 am

At the time Bush volunteered to fly jets, the unit he volunteered for was serving in vietnam. While in training he requested specifically to join a program that rotated pilots to frontline vietnam, but was denied because he lacked the flying hours. Before he completed the pre-requsite hours the F-102’s he was trained on were all rotated back to stateside duty as they were not designed for the type of combat that we faced in vietnam.

Out of all the personel who served on swift boats during vietnam, Kerry is the only person ever to request a transfer after receiving 3 purple hearts. Everyone else was either wounded and evac’d or served their whole tour.

Wade 09.08.04 at 1:26 am

The crass use of 9/11 for political gain should horrify more Americans than just the “left.” The Bush folks are disgusting.

Jim R 09.08.04 at 2:46 am

Geez guys. It will make the news and be remembered. It is only the 7th and other things are keeping the press busy:
a massacre of children in Russia, a natural disaster in Florida, and a political campaign with conventions one after the other.

Don’t be too political. Someone once said “Political campaigns are like pig wrestling. Everyone gets dirty, but only the pig likes it.” :-)

Great blog by a nice lady, LaShawn.

John 09.08.04 at 6:01 am

Wade

Describe what you mean by ‘crass use’, cite examples.

Is any mention of 9/11 not considered ‘crass’? Would it be the same if it helped a Democrat rather than a Republican?

Those events happened, to ignore them is to wear blinders. To celebrate our strong points and victories that came about because of those attacks is a good thing, not a bad thing, no matter which politian it would help.

Omar 09.08.04 at 8:24 am

‘So he applied for the naval reserve, and requested state-side duty. Didn’t get state-side duty.’

This is actually incorrect. Kerry VOLUNTEERED to be placed over seas, which at that time obviously meant a tour of Vietnam. Hence my reference. Bush did no such thing, yet him and his ilk have the nerve to him ‘weak.’ Note Dick Cheney, despite the fact he defered from military service a whole FIVE times.

‘And the more we learn about Kerry’s service, the shoddier his becomes.’

Can you explain how this is the case? He fought for his country, and a lot of men who really DID serve with Kerry support him. Even the swift vets supported him at the time. Especially George Elliot, who gave his military prowess a glowing review in ‘69, and then did the same AGAIN in 1996, in a Kerry for senate press conference. If you have issues with any of his decorations, take it up with the US navy. They issued them.

Preston Taylor Holmes 09.08.04 at 8:37 am

Thank you LaShawn! I was going to spend a week on reminding people about 9/11, but I’ve been so wrapped up in the Russian massacre that I haven’t gotten to it. This should be all over the news anyway, but especially this week. Keep up the good work! PTH

Samantha 09.08.04 at 8:47 am

I thought this post was about the lack of media attention being paid to the up coming anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks? Why are people (who have already made up their minds about what to believe) again dragging out Kerry in Vietnam vs. Bush in the National Guard.

Can we stop the sniping over that stuff just long enough to remember the people who survived that day and carry the scar of 9/11/01 on their souls for the rest of their days? My best friend lost more than 80 friends and co-workers that day, and for the few hours that I thought I had lost her as well I was a complete mess.

Where were you when the towers were hit? When they fell? What were you doing when you heard about the Pentagon? The crash in Shanksville, PA? That’s what we need to remember. We need to honour not just the dead but the living as well. Arguing over who did what 30 years ago can take a backseat for a few days can’t it?

LB 09.08.04 at 8:54 am

Samantha – That’s the reason I ranted about today’s blanket coverage of Bush’s service. I say it doesn’t matter. Bush didn’t throw his service into the ring the way Kerry did. And some folks on the thread are not an Americans, so perhaps they don’t understand the deep anger Americans feel about not only being slaughter by the enemy, but having said slaughter occur on our own soil.

SCSIwuzzy 09.08.04 at 9:37 am

5th, Omar,
For both of you, how about some citations? Tell us how you both know how Kerry volunteered and for what. And tell us over in the newly opened Bush service thread, since it is more relevant over there.

John C James III 09.08.04 at 10:25 am

PBS had a very heart wrenching show on the attacts with interview of survivers on Monday Night (or was it Tuesday?)

JJ

Jeannie 09.08.04 at 10:32 am

I saw Peter Jennings advertising ABC coverage of 9/11. I would think that the alphabet networks will have a hard time covering 9/11 without showing Bush with the megaphone.

I think they should replay Rudy’s speech from the Republican convention. That was stellar. Ru-dy! Ru-dy! Ru-dy!

noah 09.08.04 at 11:53 am

Omar, you are a British citizen? what is your ethnicity? Just curious.

noah 09.08.04 at 12:02 pm

To Omar again: Brits are one of my favorite Europeans. But perhaps you should deal with your identity crisis and staying being an European. You come here to our country and blindly take(drink the koolaid) the leftist democrat talking points and insult our intellect in La Shawn’s blog (and I bet you worship Michael Moore). Well, that’s simply lame, even for a foreigner.

DaveP> 09.08.04 at 1:02 pm

…and here we go again. Someone tries to start a conversation about the greatest threat facing our nation today, and what do Certain People supporting a Certain Candidate do? “2700 dead? Who cares? BUSH WAS AWOL!!!”

I guess that shows where the Left’s priorities are.

Dan F 09.08.04 at 1:28 pm

As far as lack of 9/11 anniversary coverage, while I’m certain that the big media feel uncomfortable presenting it, given that it brings fond remembrances of Bush, I really don’t think the media is behind some kind of coverup. The truth is that people have forgotten. This is the first year that the anniversary is on a weekend and people have other things to do. We remembered it the first year, and even the second, but now it’s been three years and it’s only a shadow. If you want proof of this attitude, look at all the things scheduled on that day. My local Christian station has been advertising a “Rekindling the Romance” conference for months. My local minor league baseball stadium is hosting a folk rock concert. I’m considering going to a high school cross-country meet. People don’t want to give up a weekend in September.

Is this a bad thing? Or is it just the way life happens? Well, I’m not sure. What do you think?

Montie 09.08.04 at 1:42 pm

Omar,

Since Kerry has refused to release all his service records, I’m curious where you get your information from? Kerry tried to get a deferral to study in France (how appropriate), but was denied a referral. He then joined a Naval Reserve component (the records he has released show that he was commissioned as a reserve officer). Kerry’s component was activated, and he spent some time shipboard off the coast of Vietnam, well out of harms way. He then volunteered for the Navy’s small boat interdiction program, which at the time was mainly doing interdictions near offshore of junks and other vessels smuggling supplied to the Vietcong. It was only after he had been transferred to the small boat component that he learned that the riverine program had been expanded, and his unit would be assigned as part of the riverine patrol force. Until Kerry allows release of more of his records, that’s it.

By the way, since the left is making a big deal about “How did Bush get into a reserve component during Vietnam?”, I have to wonder, how did Kerry do the same thing?

Kiki B. 09.08.04 at 2:23 pm

So, Wade, should we never again mention D-day or celebrate it? What about Pearl Harbor Day? How political to remember these dates all these many years later.(sarcasm) How about we SHOULD remember and talk about these dates, as well as 9/11? These are very significant dates in our nation’s history, and should be prominently memorialized. It’s too bad the liberal left is too squeamish to do so.

Omar 09.08.04 at 2:45 pm

I’ll address some questions aimed at me, despite the subject drift, and ill retort to Montie in the other thread.

‘Omar, you are a British citizen? what is your ethnicity? Just curious. ‘

Armenian.

‘But perhaps you should deal with your identity crisis and staying being an European. ‘

I dont, and never did consider myself to be ‘European.’ This is a totally artificial label describing a huge bunch of very different countries.

‘You come here to our country and blindly take(drink the koolaid) the leftist democrat talking points ‘

Translation – You dont belong in America because you are a dirty lefty that opposes Bush. Glad we clearly that up. Please refrain from assuming things about me, im no Democrat.

‘and insult our intellect in La Shawn’s blog’

I NEVER did this, care to explain? This comment is so ironic, considering you just explicitly insulted my political beliefs.

‘(and I bet you worship Michael Moore). ‘

Wrong….quit assuming.

John C James III 09.08.04 at 3:16 pm

Hey, what do you think we’ll be talking about AFTER Nov 2?

John C James III 09.08.04 at 3:19 pm

BTW, I read an article that stated that Russia will begin ‘pre-emptive’ strikes where ever Terrorist may be. Here’s the head-line.

‘Russia prepared for pre-emptive strikes on ‘terror bases’ worldwide’

Hmmmm This sounds SO familiar!

Did I get off task (the subject) again?

JJ

Dave 09.08.04 at 7:57 pm

11 September, there’ll be a commemoration at the the D-Day Museum in New Orleans. I think it’ll be quite moving.

upke 09.09.04 at 3:43 am

Here’s a 911 remembrance for you.

DancingRainGirl 09.11.04 at 1:54 pm

It seemed to me that 9-11 was getting swept under the rug so I spent this week at my blog discussiong it. You can read the essays at mywideblueseasluxaeterna.blogspot.com

God bless you all
