BTW, I read an article that stated that Russia will begin ‘pre-emptive’ strikes where ever Terrorist may be. Here’s the head-line.

So, Wade, should we never again mention D-day or celebrate it? What about Pearl Harbor Day? How political to remember these dates all these many years later.(sarcasm) How about we SHOULD remember and talk about these dates, as well as 9/11? These are very significant dates in our nation’s history, and should be prominently memorialized. It’s too bad the liberal left is too squeamish to do so.

Omar,

Since Kerry has refused to release all his service records, I’m curious where you get your information from? Kerry tried to get a deferral to study in France (how appropriate), but was denied a referral. He then joined a Naval Reserve component (the records he has released show that he was commissioned as a reserve officer). Kerry’s component was activated, and he spent some time shipboard off the coast of Vietnam, well out of harms way. He then volunteered for the Navy’s small boat interdiction program, which at the time was mainly doing interdictions near offshore of junks and other vessels smuggling supplied to the Vietcong. It was only after he had been transferred to the small boat component that he learned that the riverine program had been expanded, and his unit would be assigned as part of the riverine patrol force. Until Kerry allows release of more of his records, that’s it.

By the way, since the left is making a big deal about “How did Bush get into a reserve component during Vietnam?”, I have to wonder, how did Kerry do the same thing?

As far as lack of 9/11 anniversary coverage, while I’m certain that the big media feel uncomfortable presenting it, given that it brings fond remembrances of Bush, I really don’t think the media is behind some kind of coverup. The truth is that people have forgotten. This is the first year that the anniversary is on a weekend and people have other things to do. We remembered it the first year, and even the second, but now it’s been three years and it’s only a shadow. If you want proof of this attitude, look at all the things scheduled on that day. My local Christian station has been advertising a “Rekindling the Romance” conference for months. My local minor league baseball stadium is hosting a folk rock concert. I’m considering going to a high school cross-country meet. People don’t want to give up a weekend in September.

Is this a bad thing? Or is it just the way life happens? Well, I’m not sure. What do you think?

I saw Peter Jennings advertising ABC coverage of 9/11. I would think that the alphabet networks will have a hard time covering 9/11 without showing Bush with the megaphone.

I think they should replay Rudy’s speech from the Republican convention. That was stellar. Ru-dy! Ru-dy! Ru-dy!
