What will I do if John Kerry becomes President. Let alone Commander in Chief. I will have to drive on. I raised my right hand to protect and defend the Constitution. Since this is a government for the people and by the people, I will support the decision the people have made and continue my duties as a soldier. I will not make disparaging remarks about my Commander or ostracize him. La Shawn, if the nightmare of President Elect Kerry became reality, I will need you to be my voice. :-) At least until I retire from the Military (6 more years).

Update: Demond just posted a picture on his site. He’s the guy on the left.

Update II (10/7): Demond’s comment was in response to “Suffering John Kerry.”

That is really classy.

This is just what Zell Miller was talking about. Chances are good that Kerry wouldn’t be quite as bad as we expect (Please, Lordy please). Even so, this patriot has recognized his role, and will accept his responsibility.

Great!

That also means you (LB) would have to remain vigilant. Which I’m sure you would.

All this could be averted though …4 ‘mo.

I agree. I felt the same when when I was in the military serving under Clinton. Now, I’ve been promoted to mom and can say what I wish. I served under both Bushes and Clinton. W was my favorite Commander in Chief.

I also believe that Kerry won’t be as bad as expected on the economy or foreign relations, however, the area I’d be really worried about would be Judges. We have enough activist judges as it is.

Regardless of who wins, we as Christians must remember our true Commander in Chief (I love how Peter Marshall always called him “The Chief”) and his mission for us…it continues regardless of who’s in office.

Finally, I’m in Montgomery, AL. It’s starting to get pretty windy. We’re moving all our stuff inside and charging up our cell phones, etc. Pray for us and everyone in Ivan’s path. I’m praying especially hard for New Orleans. It could be a major tragedy in the making there. I expect our power to be out for a while (it went out for a week here last hurricane, the locals say) so I probably won’t post for a while.

Elizabeth, please take care. You and your family are in our prayers.

Wowza Wowza, what a hottie that Demond is! ;)

I know the feeling. In my last four years before retiring I had to reenlist under President Clinton.

Saying …AND THAT I WILL OBEY THE ORDERS OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES kink of stuck in my throat.

With him as Commander in Chief the military was a social labratory where we were experimented on. Such as removing the urinals out of the men’s heads for some kind of strange equality.

I served under Clinton, I hated it. They guy made my skin crawl, and that really did factor in to the little pride I had in what I did.

I was also a little punk back then, and have grown a little (very little) since.

Thank you La Shawn! My time in Iraq is in its twilight. The 18 total months I have spent in the Middle East (Saudi, Kuwait, Qatar, and 5 1/2 months in Iraq) Have truly been special. One day I would like to go back and see a truly free Iraq just basking under the blissful desert sunshine called democracy. I might not be around to see it. But I will be there in spirit

Demond S. Hunter 09.16.04 at 4:43 am

This is part of a poem I wrote several months ago over her in the Middle east. My plan was to teach myself how to play the gutair during my free time. (However that never happened) So once I get back to the DC area I will have to shell out the dollars for someone to give me lessons..

Desert Rose

Such A beautiful desert flower you are… your beauty illuminates in the sand

If for once I can reach out to touch you, it would surely make my life grand

Some might say you are a mirage just a figment of my dreams

If I am asleep in the desert, don’t wake me! I’m dreaming of that desert flower I’ve seen

I’ve posted the rest at the Herald

Demond, you illuminate my spirit. I am humbled by your service to our nation, your rose is the sweet smell of hope we all can breath.

Your letter was so inspirational, that I shared it with many others, along with the URL to this outstanding website.

Demond, I second the comments above; I am proud and honored that you serve my country. God be with you, and may His angels protect you.

Unfortunately I’m in Wilmington, DE, or you’d have yourself a teacher. Dollars not necessary. You’ve paid already.
