The New York Times reported on Sept. 5: “Global warming is not a significant factor in this year’s storminess, experts said. While some climate models predict that warming might eventually mean somewhat stronger hurricanes, that effect is expected to be very small compared to the natural hurricane cycle.”

The Washington Post began a Sept. 3 article with, “Bad luck, not global warming, is the best explanation for the arrival of two severe hurricanes on the Florida peninsula in three weeks, several experts said yesterday.”

I do hope the swift hand of President Bush to help will come to your aid soon. I feel he is a man of great moral values and I am voting for him.

I do want you to know the prayers are coming from those of us in Texas.

They lucked out – the church got power back up within a couple of days, and they opened it up to folks, especially the elderly and children, who were suffering so badly from the heat. Water and sewage have been out for extended periods as well as most land-line phones. Thank God for cell phones and car rechargers that have let us keep in touch, even during the worst of the storms.

It had gotten bad. We had to throw away all of our food in the fridge and freezer and the sewers in the neighborhood had begun to overflow into the streets because the power was out the lift and pumping stations. Forget the wind and water damage from a ‘cane. The real hassle from a hurricane is being without power.

The problem seems to be a lack of process, learning and communication between municipality leadership, the state leadership and environmentalist concerns. The mayor (Tampa), Pam Iorio says the city cuts down nuisance trees, but not around power lines, Tampa Electric Company (TECO) says they do but often don’t because resident threaten to and sue them for cutting down their precious trees. The governor is impotent due to his having to keep a state like Florida green which means the environmentalists will raise sand if you cut a tree.

We can put a man on the moon, create and artificial heart, transmit power under DADGUM OCEANS, but we can’t keep power from going down to 40MPH breezes with the OCCASIONAL higher gusts? Sorry, but I’m not buying it.

I just hope Floridians won’t have to experience this sort of event again. The state really needs to recover.

Florida people are mighty fine people and they have a Bush there and that makes sense to me. But a BUSH in TEXAS!?!?

Well, I will tell you this is for sure and it ain’t no foolin’. WE Christian Texans have you in Our Prayers and the Man Above does what He does Best…Those of us that follow him and those that have wandered from Him as well, care about you and sends in Heavenly Angels and Angels here on earth.

Thanks for the prayers. We Floridians need them. I’m so worn out from the storms. Damage here in the St. Pete area goes from nothing to major depending on where you live. For me and my family (including my Church family) the damage was minimal.

We had two downed trees on one of the church buildings (one we use to house tools and chairs and stuff). Thankfully there was no damage. There are about four other downed or semi-downed trees around the Church property that we are still dealing with.

A number of us, including the Church were without power and/or phones. Thankfully, I believe everyone has power and phones now.

We’ve been blessed. But so many other’s have suffered much worse. My heart breaks for those in Haiti too.

What really frustrates me are the silly people like the one from California who made the statement that this was God’s punishment for electing Bush in 2000. I just posted to my blog this guy’s letter to the Tampa Tribune and some of what another columnist said on the matter.

I just wanted to say you look very purty in your picture.

Not as pretty as my Kenyan African Queen, but then I am biased.

I’m glad you’ll be posting something on the Florida vote. I’m sure you’ve read Jimmy Carter’s op-ed piece in the Wash. Post, in which he accuses Florida Republicans of a conspiracy to disenfranchise black voters. Ugh.

I’m sorry that some liberals hate you. I suspect, though, that they’d hate anyone who was on the “wrong” side of the issues.

The occurrence of evil is mysterious, but it isn’t an argument against the existence of God. At most, it’s an argument that God’s ways are mysterious.

Fact is, if there were no Absolute Righteousness—no God—there’d be no standard against which to measure good and evil or to make the distinction between them.
