The Watcher of Weasels is another good showcase to submit to. The Watcher’s Council selection a one council and one non-council winner among nominated posts. You may nominate one of your own posts or another blogger’s. The site also lists other carnivals you may want to join. This is how to submit.
Back of the Envelope hosts the new Storyblogging Carnival for you fiction writers. (Look at these kitties!) The latest showcase is posted.
Neophyte Pundit put together a cool pre-debate carnival.
You’ll notice that I have several of my submissions in these carnivals. Joining is worth the effort, especially when a host gets heavy traffic. In fact, Instapundit always links to the Carnival of the Vanities. You’ll see a nice traffic spike on your hit counter.
On a side note, who’s watching the debate? I’ll listen on my Walkman until I fall asleep. Speaking of debates, while I’m as far away from my computer as I can get, others will be “live-blogging” during the debate. Here’s a list of live-blogging bloggers.

I am sad to report that I think Senator flip flop was much more clear about deconstructing the actions of the president than the president was at illustrating the duality that is John Kerry.
Bush really did a good job making SOME points, but he missed many as well. I thought it should have been his goal to state the inconsistancies of Kerry by using specific quotes. He started with the $87B quote, and let Kerry reframe the statement. Bush never responded to how phony that response was. I couldn’t believe he missed that softball.
Kerry made great strides in explaining the foundational points of his positions, and if I hadn’t been paying attention to the inconsistancies, he might have gained some ground. I only hope I am alone in that view.
Re: who won, Hugh Hewitt is saying it was a big win for Bush, but I think it was a draw (NRO’s Kerry Spot is saying the same thing). They both looked better than I thought either of them would. Kerry did seem a bit stiff (per the norm) and the Prez looked like a casual cowboy LOL. Bush came off as strong and resolute, like he should have. He really nailed home the point about the US not needing a wishy washy leader right now.
Bush won because Flipper brought up Halliburton and multiple references to Vietnam. Flipper also flopped several times on issues like Darfur and nuclear proliferation. Bush had him cornered and he danced around it.
I posted my thoughts on my blog but I have to say that Kerry lost. I wouldn’t exactly say Bush won however. Bush just held his own and looked lost at times.
Kerry kept bobbing his head up and down, what was that about?
On screen, Bush came across awkward — a “C” for presentation.
sKerry’s practiced and well honed public speaking style was “A” grade.
However, this debate wasn’t about getting graded on rhetoric in some university speech class, it was about substance and who best understands the demands of leadership. Bush came across consistent and resolute
sKerry won in the sense that he couldn’t afford to lose or fumble. However, when one reads the transcripts, I’d say Bush made sKerry dance in his flip-flops while Bush stomped at them with his cowboy boots. There were a couple of times that Bush passed up the opportunity to rake sKerry’s bare toes with his silver spurs.
For example, sKerry wants to increase the army by 2 divisions and 40K Special Forces. With what? Plus by the time help arrived, we would probably be done with the hostilities in Iraq. Maybe Bush will draw some blood next time around.
By the way, did anyone notice sKerry doing the herky-jerky jigs? I know, I know, I’m stuck on it and so be it.
I think that he must be raTHer self-concious of those “involuntary tics”. Reason being, in the past, it was always his right leg that would launch the herky. But tonight he appeared to keep his center of gravity over his right leg and it was the left leg that jerked first, but then quickly repressed — if you blinked, you missed it. I lost count after 4 such jigs in part because I dozed off a few times.
Without studying all the tapes, it seems to me that he only does it when he really has passion, ie firmly believes in what he is about to say or a “physio-truth meter” if you will — unfortunately it’s not very often that he gets to talk about things near and dear to him. Imagine if it was a bamboozle indicator instead, he’d be skittering accross the stage.
It would seem that the Bush administration is more worried about the election than it is at working with authorities in order to protect us.
