pollUpdate (8:58 p.m.): Already an update! Instapundit has linked to this post, inviting the blog-less to live-comment. Welcome readers! :)

Update II: It is done. Right Journal says: “Mr. Bush won.”

****

I’m not watching the debate, but I invite readers to “live-comment” during the event.

We bloggers run “hybrid online sites that blend news, gossip and opinion”, according this article, and the blogosphere will be buzzing for sure. I just hope President Bush is well-prepped, forceful, aggressive and in Kerry’s face about every contradiction, inconsistency and lie.

Live-commenting is open.

For a round-up of live-blogging bloggers, see links below…

  1. I have already been praying for Bush. I want to see him knock it out of the park tonight. Thankfully, it’s the townhall forum, and he shines more in that forum.

As an aside, my brother-in-law and his wife got us the book, “The Faith of George W. Bush”. I was leafing through it last night, and ran across a section that mentioned that Bush might have undiagnosed Dyslexia. I have also wondered about that. It would explain the rapid eye blinking, mispronouncing words, etc. However, those who have undiagnosed Dyslexia become experts at memorizing and giving a speech and speaking in a one-on-one format, because they learn very early how to read people and relate well to them. It also mentioned that Dyslexia runs in families, and my hubby told me that Bushie has a brother who is Dyslexic. Makes you wonder.

How are you doing? I thought I would check in and let you know that I am going to do a poll after the debate again.

But I think I’ll eat pizza and watch it in the mean time….

  7. Lol, Carl. You’ll be mellow enough for both of us. I know my hubby’s going to get upset with me. When I get mad at Kerry, I have a tendency to yell at the TV, and then we can’t hear what’s being said…Lol. Where’s the Valium?

  12. Go, Bushie! I called it! I said he needed to nail Kerry on the “global test” crap right after Kerry lied, I mean flip-flopped, and he did! Last debate, we had to pass a “global test”, this debate, Kerry says he wanted to use force against Iraq, but he would have used it “wisely”. Huh?? What does that mean?

    Comment by Kiki B. — 10.08.04 @ 9:14 pm

    Comment by Carl Schwartz — 10.08.04 @ 9:16 pm

  17. Can you imagine Kerry winning the presidency? He’ll get France and Germany to take over in Iraq, get our troops out and lose the other “insignificant nations”

    It would be a disaster….

    Comment by Jeffery Blanco — 10.08.04 @ 9:16 pm

  18. Anyone think that the president has shown ANY weaknesses or not met expectations in any way tonight? (Supporter, loved the VP debate.)

  19. I really want to ask Kerry a two part question,

“What wars that America has won does he disagree with?

Did FDR and the United States Congress rush us into war?”

    Comment by La Shawn — 10.08.04 @ 9:26 pm

  22. Now Kerry is talking about “leading the world”. I thought he was more interested in building a coalition.

    Comment by Jeffery Blanco — 10.08.04 @ 9:26 pm

  23. I like how the president’s keeping his cool, and I think his answer on the ICC was alright, but now Kerry is just BULL****ing on the troops numbers that would have been around if the president had hesitated … nice admission on the scowl. :)

Good point though on the president calling out Kerry on the inspectors and Iran.

    Comment by Edward Yee — 10.08.04 @ 9:28 pm

  24. Kiki, I’ve already yelled at the TV a few times! I seem to remember “Kerry lied, people died.” They are talking about Iran’s nukes. Doesn’t he know that Iran is sandwiched? We got this. The French have no troops to give, so where are they going to get them? Sanctions on Iran? Go get ‘em, Mr. Prez!

    Comment by Rosemary — 10.08.04 @ 9:28 pm

  25. Bush concentrates on the question, while skerry talks his points and keeps going back to expired questions — talka bout duck and run. What does domestic issues have to do with a specific question on Iraq?

    Comment by Andy — 10.08.04 @ 9:30 pm

  26. Interesting naming of names by Kerry, but will anyone remember them tommorow? I’m mixed on the draft statement and the effectiveness of Kerry’s talking about stop-loss …

    P.S. Kudos for mentioning Poland!

    Comment by Edward Yee — 10.08.04 @ 9:32 pm

  27. Thank you for standing up for the coalition, Mr. President. Kerry, shut your face.

    Comment by Rosemary — 10.08.04 @ 9:32 pm

  28. Great lie coming up!

Kerry knows, as does every single liberal, that Charles Rangel Democrat from New York who is sponsoring the bill to reinstate the draft and his reasons for sponsering it was “It would make us less likely to go to war when the rich would have too send them too.”

Liberals supported it then and agreed with his reasoning.

    Comment by Jeffery Blanco — 10.08.04 @ 9:33 pm

  29. 90% ? ***dammit, the president should have gotten another rebuttal to one more time slap Kerry with Cheney’s line …

  30. Bush - sharp and feisty
sKerry - my plan, my plan and off-topic

    Comment by Andy — 10.08.04 @ 9:35 pm

  31. Insulting the coalition again, why would they want to stay in Iraq if their contribution is insignificant?

Tax cut for the rich, yet he’s going to let us middle class people keep the tax cut that we supposedly never got.

    Comment by Jeffery Blanco — 10.08.04 @ 9:35 pm

  35. The Grecian Formula and Botox are wearing off. The very orange spray on tan is beginning to glow. He shouldn’t take beauty tips from Tuhrayza. How much do you want to bet that before the next debate, Tuhrayza has him into the hairdresser, and Botoxed up by the Plastic Surgeon. Also, he needs to exfoliate before he gets the spray on tan. I’ve heard that it turns out better if you do that. His style is sliding.

    Comment by Kiki B. — 10.08.04 @ 9:37 pm

  36. Missouri is the third largest member of the coalition… once again, Kerry forgot… IRAQ.
And now, he’s on about the tax cut for the richest americans…
Saying he traded the tax cut for homeland security…
Bush hits him with the tripled budget for homeland security..
then hits him for Kerry’s attempted budget cuts to intel…
    Ouch
George is awake, aware and agressive…

Hey, Jeff, my husband and I who don’t make anywhere near $100,000 sure did like our tax cut, and we sure do like keeping our money that we(I mean Tom earns). We wouldn’t make it financially under Kerry’s tax cut plan.

  50. Wow, do these guys hate each other.

I can’t remember two candidates who were so openly hostile to one another. I mean, Bush I and Clinton despised each other, but Bush I didn’t call Clinton a bozo till just before the election.

    Comment by Carl Schwartz — 10.08.04 @ 9:58 pm

  57. Kerry’s going to raise taxes on the rich? There go our jobs. Everybody knows that if taxes are down, there’s more money for the rich to spend/invest, and it trickles on down to us. Don’t ever forget that it is those “rich” people, like Kerry’s heiresses who provide jobs.

    Comment by Kiki B. — 10.08.04 @ 9:58 pm

  58. Where has he been? We lost 1M jobs in 1 mo. after 9/11/01, we had a war with Afghanistan, Iraq, Liberia, Haiti, Philiphines, Horn of Africa, etc., also, the collapse of Enron and Arthur Anderson, etc. Corporate corruption. Sort of like the UN! LOL

  59. Rosemary—

obviously not in the senate often.

    Comment by Jeffery Blanco — 10.08.04 @ 10:00 pm

  60. Also, if Kerry is so desperate to have a childcare program, aren’t he and Tuhrayza wealthy enough to pay for it? He’s married enough heiresses. He shouldn’t take our money to pay for it.

    Comment by Jeffery Blanco — 10.08.04 @ 10:03 pm

  65. Well, considering the fact that I can’t find myself attracted to a VERY pompous New England Democrat “boy” who identifies himself with the working class by windsurfing off Cape Cod - I think our President is doing a fantastic job of showing his Compassionate Conservative side (which in reality is far more ‘liberal’ in the best sense of the word than this metro-wannabe waffler).

    Comment by Kay Harrison — 10.08.04 @ 10:03 pm

  66. Kerry’s same old cliches are so tired. Would Americans elect someone who lies as much as Kerry does? Oh, yeah, we elected the Clintons.

    Comment by Neal Hawkins — 10.08.04 @ 10:03 pm

  67. Good point, Rosemary. How does someone “lose” 1.6 million jobs. Did they fall out of his pocket into the couch cushions? Are they on top of his head with his glasses? Maybe he left them in the car or at work. Sheesh! IT IS NOT THE PRESIDENT’S JOB TO CREATE JOBS!!! That is businesses jobs, and when you cut taxes, they are created since there is more money to go around. Also, as Rosemary mentioned, we have been through a ton in the past 3 years in this country, and we are SURVIVING AND GROWING!! Any other country would have been devastated by the 9/11 attacks, but we have come back from that tragedy. That is a testament to the leadership of our President, and the resilience and determination and ingenuity of the American people.

    Comment by Kiki B. — 10.08.04 @ 10:04 pm

  68. Does anyone wonder if John Kerry has been everywhere? “I was in Kyoto! I know” I was in Vietnam. I know!” “I was in the Senate. I know!” Mr. Kerry, where haven’t you been other than doing your job in the Senate?

    Comment by Nate — 10.08.04 @ 10:05 pm

  69. NO KYOTO!!! YEAH!!! Thanks, Mr. Prez!

    Comment by Rosemary — 10.08.04 @ 10:05 pm

  70. John Kerry was a delegate to the Kyoto summit and his influence on the bill was so bad that it actually hurt America. He couldn’t lead at the Kyoto summit now he wants to lead the world as President of the US?

The Kyoto agreement was so bad the Senate vote 95-0 against it.

    Comment by Jeffery Blanco — 10.08.04 @ 10:05 pm

  74. As my hubby just said, “I have a plan, I have a plan, I have a plan, we just never know what it is”. So, what is your plan, Kerry? We have yet to know what it is. Maybe it’s to get elected President, and you to move the White House to your beloved France. Question, Senator, are you running for President of America or France? I can’t really tell.

Liberals supported the Patriot act but the liberals who opposed it were mad because the Patriot Act DID NOT GO FAR ENOUGH and wanted it too include National ID Cards.

Bush isn’t doing as well on all questions as he should be, eg kyoto treaty, i mean the senate was voting it down, and etc. but kerry is just …unwatchable.

then again, i thought kerry was terrible last time too.

Oops! Sorry. He’s so boring, I can’t help but fall asleep when Kerry talks. He’s at a -21 now.

What morality in the stem cell question? IT’S JUST COMMON SENSE!!! Using embryonic stem cells are dangerous! Adult stem cells are not! Why doesn’t he just say, “Let’s use adult stem cells. They work better”. If he really cared about those who need stem cell research, he would thoroughly study this issue and realize that adult stem cells are safer, AND READILY AVAILABLE. I would gladly go and donate some of my fat to save somebody’s life. I am not willing to kill my unborn child to destroy not only their life, but somebody else’s. They have found that ESC’s grow rapidly and erratically causing cancer and other problmes with embryonic stem cells. Adult stem cells do not.

  118. that’s not fair, what he is saying now. That when they ask about mistakes, they mean was it a mistake to go into Iraq. A lot of people who think it was a good thing to go into Iraq think we should have been more aggressive, had more troops, etc., and that we’ve made mistakes in handling the war. But it’s smart — it works to counteract the questioning and all those people who carry on about hwo “bush doesn’t admit mistakes” (as though the MSM doesn’t crucify him when he does admit, as when he said that the intelligence on Niger shouldn’t have made it into the SOTU). And it also makes Kerry sound as though he’s saying it *was* a mistake to go into Iraq, which is of course what he believes, even though he keeps saying it wasn’t a mistake, just we should have done it differently, that is w/ more inspections that wouldn’t have resulted in this mistaken invasion.

Gee, how do people liveblog, I’m sure that none of what I just wrote is clear.

I’m curious how all the people who keep writing that Bush is arrogant and doesn’t admit mistakes will react to this, if that answer will work. 148. Andy, don’t forget that Jesus frequently referred to the Pharisees as hypocrites and vipers. Read the book of Matthew, Bijan, before you try to test my knowledge of Scripture.

Also, as I said before, my brother served in Iraq twice since the war began. He was adequately equipped. However, that is also his JOB. He makes sure that his troops are well-equipped. He and other troops have also said that the media has not truthfully told what is going on in Iraq. So, I am going to assume that you have gotten your information from the media or Kerry. Again, incorrect information. Also, since when have citizens in America sent armored Humvees over to Iraq? I thought we were discussing sending packages with non-perishable food that they couldn’t buy in Iraq(jerky and other treats), as well as sunscreen and socks. Those are sent in care packages. Trust me, my church sent those to some of our members who were stationed over there, as well as others. It’s their way of doing something nice for the troops. Also, you wonder about sending them socks. Did you stop to think that the desert heat wears things out quicker? It does. It’s blazing hot over there, then you put body armor, and a long-sleeved, long-pant uniform(BDU’s) on over all of that, and you’re going to sweat and break down material. So, loving families, caring churches, and other kind people send care packages with such things to the troops. It really does help encourage them. Especially, when we have the likes of hateful Dems and war protesters and politicians like Kerry working very hard to tear down their morale.

    Comment by Kiki B. — 10.08.04 @ 11:01 pm

  149. Yes, I’m quite familiar w/ scripture. Jesus met with the poor, lepers, the blind, “the woman who had sinned”, publicans, and tax collectors, all without addressing them out of their names. He said the first commandment after loving God, was to love one’s neighbor as one’s self. He criticized actions, but forgave individuals (even the disciples, he already knew what Peter and Judas were going to do). I cite him often because many posters here are supposed to know and live by the principles of the New Covenant. (as in Corinthians’ “love” chapter). We’re supposed to be “doers of the word”.

    Comment by Bijan C. Bayne — 10.08.04 @ 11:04 pm

  150. He also said something about “planks” and “eyes”, too.

    Comment by La Shawn — 10.08.04 @ 11:08 pm

  151. Jesus called those groups that because they were legalistic and biased (i.e., opposed healing on the Sabbath). That doesn’t mean he was biased, his statements were based upon their actions (recall John 8:39-44 “…if God were your father, you would love me…”). Calling a senator’s wife, whom one has never met, that name the poster used, is not based on her deeds or actions. Be careful, because we shall know you by your fruits, not your labels (see James 4)

    Comment by Bijan C. Bayne — 10.08.04 @ 11:08 pm

  152. That doesn’t mean we roll over and play dead, Bijan. Don’t you recall, again in Matthew that Jesus(since he seems to be the only person you’ll recognize from scripture) fashioned a whip, and chased the money-changers out of the temple at the end of it? He doesn’t sound all soft and fuzzy and wishy-washy to me. He got very angry and acted upon injustices and sins. He forgave people, but he never let them get away with their sin. And never forget, He will also have the last word when he will destroy this earth, and all who have not accepted Him as their Lord and Savior. Again, He is not the weak, effeminate man that some like to make him out to be. He is God. A loving, merciful, righteous, just, angry and jealous God. He is perfect. We are not.

  155. If Jesus returned (or was living in your day), few of you would be followers. Too biased. I can hear the comments now. “He hangs around with all those men” “He’s close to John the Baptist, who doesn’t bathe and eats figs”, “he’s healing on weekends”, “I saw him with some tax collectors”, “he’s a Jew”
Don’t (posters like Andy) be so pious or sanctimonious as to think you’d be open-minded.

    Comment by Bijan C. Bayne — 10.08.04 @ 11:12 pm

  156. Bijan, while you’re welcome on my blog, I do expect you to practice what you preach. While I am a Christian, this is mostly a political blog, and you are a participant in the political discussion (and I assume you’re a Christian). “Calling out” Christians on the board and quoting Scripture only when it suits you is not edifying to anyone.

By the way, to all, I really want to keep this thread focused on the debate. Let’s do the other stuff off-line, if desired.

    Comment by La Shawn — 10.08.04 @ 11:14 pm

  157. Andy,

Was the name you made up for Teresa just a label or based on her actions? She’s a very hateful woman who has told a reporter to “shove it” and other things. So, if you consider that the Lord called the Pharisees, who were the very respected religious leaders of the day “hypocrites and vipers(snakes)” because of their behavior, would it be such a stretch to call a mean, angry woman a turd because it describes her?

    a. That Kerry thought so little of US intelligence that he missed ¾ of his Intelligence Committee meetings.
    b. That the “Rush to War” entailed 17 UN Resolutions over 12 years. Whenever Hussein wanted to hide weapons, he did so, whenever he wanted to kick inspectors out he did so. The UN would then pass another resolution.
    c. That the only man in the last 60 years who has actually USED WMD is Hussein.
    d. That our “Traditional Allies” were to busy stuffing their pockets with bribed oil money to ever consider aiding us in Iraq.
    e. That any stand on Kyoto would be superfluous, as the entire Senate (99 to 0 as I recall) voted against it.

    2. Did anyone count the number of times Kerry said “Plan”?

  164. SCSIwuzzy, how do you read in my comments that I am against religion? My remarks were about bearing false witness, and name-calling of people one has never met. No religious person would do either. Religion comes from a Latin word meaning “to bond to” or to “adhere”. It’s not a label, it’s a way of life. The Book of James says if one is not living one’s religion, that religion is bankrupt. (Jesus said “ye shall know them by their fruits”). After all, what is faith w/o works?
