Letter to black newspaper

Dear Editor,

The ONLY real problem with voting yesterday was that WE did not do our homework before going to the polls. People, some apparently illiterate were causing lines to form because they decided to be irresponsible and wait until they actually got to a machine to start TRYING to read and understand the numerous amendments and/or decide on which candidate they were going to vote for. I voted yesterday at the College Hill Library and witnessed this buffoonery with my own eyes. President Bush and the GOP have nothing to do with a person’s responsibility to be educated on the use of the new machines and the issues and candidates they are being asked to cast a ballot for.

I, for one am sick and tired of our so called black “leaders” stirring the pot and causing trouble where none exists and redirecting blame for our failures to some mythical right wing conspiracy. I have tried and tried to find the evidence of all of this voter intimidation, vote suppression and the like but it all comes back to the individual voter not being duly prepared to handle his/her business when they get into the boot. It is actually pretty sad that some of these people are even allowed to vote.

It was sickening to see the same people I saw casting their votes (looking dazed and confused while trying to do a last minute analysis of the ballot) when I walked into the building STILL THERE when I was certified, received my ballot and stood in the line to use a machine. The problem is not George W. Bush. The problem is the voter.

Since black people like to keep bringing this nonsense up and parroting the cries of the DNC who treats us like the dumbest animals on the planet, I think it is now time to set the record straight.

Stay off the Republicans. They didn’t mess it up the first time and they aren’t doing it THIS time. You can watch “Fahrenheit 911” all you want, but just like in the last election it is Democrat precincts and Democrat voters having the problems. It is Democrat lawyers causing trouble and crying foul before trouble even exists. No one is being disenfranchised by the GOP. People are being disenfranchised by their own stupidity in being unable to read their ballots, speak English, voting for the same failed leadership to run the polls etc.

YOU BET I am angry.

In the 2000 election:

Ø There was and is ZERO evidence that the GOP, George or Jeb tried to disenfranchise anyone. This is confirmed by the majority liberal, Democrat appointed Commission on Civil Rights.

Ø No one was disenfranchised. Anyone who was qualified to vote VOTED!

Ø IT was Al Gore who tried to pull a coup and recanted his concession on the advice of his advisers who had a plan to steal the election.

Ø It was the FLORIDA Supreme Court who tried to change written Florida election law and was TWICE correctly rebuked by the US Supreme Court.

Ø The Palm Beach fiasco was due to elderly voters and idiot voters unable to perform a simple act of hand-eye coordination.

Ø ALL of the counties where there were allegations of fraud came from counties run by DEMOCRATS. Democrat Mayor. Democrat City Council and Democrat SUPERVISIORS OF ELECTION!

Ø Even liberal, Democrat, black female Judge Nikki Clarke sided with the law.

Ø The voting machines that were missing were not found in a Republican car, but the car of a DEMOCRAT operative.

Ø Ballot boxes that were not turned in but later found were found back in the polling place of a predominantly black precinct location.

Ø The ONLY report of voter intimidation was reported by Haitian immigrants who reportedly told of how Democrat operatives threatened them with deportation if they did not vote for Gore.

Ø The ONLY legal ballots that were targeted for disqualification were the legal ballots sent in by our military personnel overseas. Al Gore was the only person who actually tried to suppress votes.

Ø BY LAW, spoiled ballots are to be thrown out. It is not the job of some arbitrarily selected politicos to try and discern the “intent of the voter.” It is OUR job to vote as instructed.

Ø Katherine Harris did her job according to THE LAW. Nothing more and nothing less.

If anyone can find one…JUST ONE black person or any other person who had their voting rights taken away outside an honest mistake, then I dare that person to produce them and to produce the case number associated with their complaint. ALL who wanted to vote...voted. There were problems but they were corrected up to and including the FIRING of Miriam Oliphant, the BLACK Broward County Supervisor of Elections.

If you really want to see what the problems are when it comes down to election day, then go be a poll watcher for a day at a heavily African-American precinct and you will witness first hand why we are the laughing stock of the nation.

If the Democrats want to talk about voter suppression, let them ply the public with facts! I don't want to hear these vague accusations; give me names, dates, places.
Suppression of ANYONE'S vote is an act that as an American I find totally disgusting. It is a criminal act that SHOULD BE PROSECUTED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW!!! If the Democrat party can come up with ACTUAL INSTANCES OF VOTER SUPPRESSION (Not "there was a police car near the polls and it intimidated the blacks." My voting precinct has a very large black population, and our polling place is AT THE POLICE STATION! Nobody I've spoken to has any problem with this; they find it odd that someone would.), let those guilty be prosecuted. Until then, the Democrats should just SHUT UP!

The DNC already has a significant portion of the US thinking that the 2000Florida dispute was deliberate, racist, and a Republican plot, while most elections officials in the effected counties were Democrats, most "spoiled ballots" were statisticly from anglos, and the leading causal factor by far was voter error.

'Republicans ripped into John Kerry yesterday over a stunning new internal manual that advises Democrats to launch “pre-emptive” strikes charging the GOP with voter intimidation — even if none exists.'

When I read the piece on drudge none of it advocated charging present vote suppression. It did advocate raising the issue and potential dangers though. It said it would be most effective to do this in places where previous suppression existed.

To answer Mark's question:

This is my first time as an election judge, so I'm not any more clued in than you. Sorry! lol

However, I do know that in Afghanistan, each voter was stamped with semi-permanent ink that election workers could check to see if they had already voted. I think it's a really good and inexpensive idea.

I've been thinking about the high tech idea myself, but it seems too costly. I think they ought to stamp hands, just like at a night club. Make it one of those invisible flourescent stamps, and then nobody knows if they rubbed it off enough or not. Or make it red that takes a few days to go away no matter what.

I think that judge made the wrong decision and that Ohio is going to be a fiasco unless Bush wins in a landslide.

"Liberals manipulate blacks with “voter fraud” myths, and this alarmist garbage plays into the DNC’s condescending, paternalistic and racist hands. They all deserve each other."

WELL SAID!!!!!

If Bush wins florida, you can be assured that the DNC lawyers will descend and we are going to go through the same thing we did last time.
Now that they know how to delay a winner, they are going to do it EVERY time. Mark my words.
I plan to go to Florida and be a poll watcher. I am expecting the worse.

Dex,

I haven't lived in FL for almost 3 years now. I am also a registered voter in IN. I have received two different fliers to request an absentee ballot with 2 forms on each to request the ballots. Thankfully, I am a nice, honest Republican who tore them up(so no one else could use them), and threw them away. Sheesh! I could have voted 4 times in FL and once in IN to ensure Bush got elected. ;-)

Iam a Floridan living in Nova Scotia and voted absentee well over three weeks ago and today to my shock in the mail box today was another absentee ballot in my post office box. I could not believe this was happening so I called long distance to my home state of Florida election office to express my concern in receiving a second ballot and question if my vote was already counted. Well to make a long story short the Service Rep told me to not to worry and to tear up the second ballot and don't worry. So if anyone voted absentee in Florida be on the look out.

I could not believe this was happening so I called long distance to my home state of Florida election office to express my concern in receiving a second ballot and question if my vote was already counted. Well to make a long story short the Service Rep told me to not to worry and to tear up the second ballot and don’t worry. So if anyone voted absentee in Florida be on the look out.

I'll go with the voter fraud reminder. I'm sure those kinds of laws are on the books, but it wouldn't hurt to "propose" upping the penalty in time for 11/2. Even if it goes nowhere, at least fraudsters will think twice about the existing penalties.

Also, have a Republican legislator in each state put in a bill, with lot's of fanfare and news coverage, that mandates a minimum of one month in jail for anyone proven to have voted more than once.
