Comment Moderation

by La Shawn on October 28, 2004

in General

I don’t want to do this, but I have to. Beginning around 9:30 p.m. EST, comment moderation will be in effect. If you post a comment after that time, it won’t appear until tomorrow morning when (if) I approve it. Trackbacks will be held, too. Troll traffic has multiplied, and I won’t give them the satisfaction of posting filth on this site for all to see overnight. These are concessions I have to make now that I’ve been “discovered.”

I will turn off comment moderation and enable trackbacking in the morning around 6:00 a.m. Rest easy, everybody.

Hi LaShawn..
I am new here and I haven’t come across any crude or negative posts, yet. Although after reading some of your views and perspectives I’m sure you are disliked by many liberals. This site must be consuming to run..also very draining. I read Nate Livingstons blog..and even though we are miles apart in our political and social views..for some reason I like the guy. He is committed..or should be..hee hee. I just like his tenacity..and he makes me laugh.
Both of you have strong beliefs. However..I believe you possess a courage that he lacks. I admire that. Thanks for taking the time to reveal your thoughts and soul. It will give me something compelling to read during this upcoming grey season. Dance with Life. Ray..

Thanks for reading, Ray. The nasty comments are deleted or don’t get through at all. I am disliked by many, but it only fuels my determination.

LS – It breaks my heart that you have to resort to restrictive measures in order to prevent that kind of behavior. The few spoil it for the many, so it always seems to go. It hurts us here on the “left” coast even more, but that’s ok since that’s probably where the baddies come from.

I guess we should pray for them…I know I’ll be praying for you.

We love you, La Shawn. Keep up the good work.

Sorry, I guess. If you’re getting hit it’ll translate into
finances to support the site and you’ll get the inevitable
BS that comes with volume. I’ll have to pay attention to the
clock. You are going to get hit a whole bunch more soon,
LaShawn. Wait for it.

It means you’re getting to them. The nastiness means they don’t have a snappy comeback.

Thank you for moderating the comments, LaShawn. I appreciate that you make an effort to keep your blog clean. I have stumbled across some(generally liberals commenting) that are so foul, they’d make a sailor and truck driver blush. Please don’t apologize for taking a stand against that garbage. We regular readers appreciate it, and we back you 100%. Besides, I need to get over my vanity a bit, and realize that not everyone reads your blog for my posts. Hee hee! ;-) God bless you for a wonderful, insightful blog, Lovely Lady.

I’m not quite there yet, LaShawn, but at the rate the trolls keep multiplying, I’m strongly considering moderating my own blog…soon.

La Shawn 10.29.04 at 9:22 am

It’s particularly bad at night. You have people on the west coast and people who know you’re asleep. The creeps take advantage of you, for sure. It’s a shame.

Kiki – I forget to say thanks! So many regular readers comment late into the night. I really don’t like “turning off” my blog.

Troll-”A beast, that wants discourse of reason.” W. Shakespeare. Amen to keeping it reasoned.

I have no idea who you are, just found a link on someone’s site to yours.

I’ve read a bit of your blogging and wonder if you’re hated because of the Bush liking. I’m Canadian, so I’m not overly concerned with which party you guys elect. But is that the reason?

Evon Bachaus 10.29.04 at 9:21 pm

La Shawn,

One of the best features of your blog is the absence of nasty language. I’m sorry that this means more work for you but you still are a bright spot in my day.

In Chirst,

Evon

La Shawn 10.29.04 at 9:32 pm

Jafer – That I don’t vote for Democrats like 90% of voting black Americans is part of the reason, I suppose. I’ve been called vain and stuck-up (hadn’t heard that since junior high) by those who don’t like me, though I’ve never done anything to them, except maybe ignore them.

I’m also hated because I profess faith in Jesus Christ, who says the only way to God is through him. The exclusivity of Christianity turns off some people, although other religions claim to be the truth. Something about Christ rubs people the wrong way.

Bottom line: We’re sharply divided because of political differences, and that’s one of many human weaknesses. Other than that, I think I’m OK.

Evon – I try to keep it clean. Thanks for reading. You guys are very encouraging to me.
