Happy anniversary, Ms. Barber. May we be privileged to read your insightful, entertaining, and erudite work syndicated in every newspaper and magazine in the land, including The New York Times, The Nation, Mother Goose, Field & Stream, and GQ. Hopefully President Guiliani and Vice President Rice will pass legislation requiring every registered Democrat remaining in America (both of them) to read one of your posts before casting there ballots in the 2012 elections. That should set them on the straight and narrow.

Its interesting that you commented on the question of you ever running for elected office. I graduated from East Carolina University here in NC with a Political Science degree. One of the first things that I learned when I joined the PS dept, was that the word politics stems from some Greek word that suggest,”to compromise”. I am also one who hates to compromise on things that I believe. I would say that for me I think that to be a winning politician in this country, you have to pick and choose your battles and on some issues be willing to give in a bit. Bill Clinton was an excellent example of such a person. Slick as they come.
