Any veterans in the audience? Thank you for defending my freedom! May the Lord watch over those currently in harm’s way, and may he richly bless all who’ve served our country with honor and dignity.
In the words of your Commander-in-Chief:
Across America, there are more than 25 million veterans. Their ranks include generations of citizens who have risked their lives while serving in military conflicts, including World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf, and the war on terror. They have fought for the security of our country and the peace of the world. They have defended our founding ideals, protected the innocent, and liberated the oppressed from tyranny and terror. They have known the hardships and the fears and the tragic losses of war. Our veterans know that in the harshest hours of conflict they serve just and honorable purposes.Through the years, our veterans have returned home from their duties to become active and responsible citizens in their communities, further contributing to the growth and development of our Nation. Their commitment to service inspires all Americans….
NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim November 11, 2004, as Veterans Day and urge all Americans to observe November 7 through November 13, 2004, as National Veterans Awareness Week. I urge all Americans to recognize the valor and sacrifice of our veterans through ceremonies and prayers. I call upon Federal, State, and local officials to display the flag of the United States and to encourage and participate in patriotic activities in their communities. I invite civic and fraternal organizations, places of worship, schools, businesses, unions, and the media to support this national observance with commemorative expressions and programs.

Thank you for your kind words, sweet spirited LaShawn;
Viet Nam vet (’69-70). Came home to a “Jane Fonda” America who despised the uniform we wore (the source of all my “former” bitterness and anger). My testimony; now finally an inner peace that comes from the love and grace of Jesus Christ my Lord.
{{{{HUGS}}}} for all Veterans.
People, check around your neighborhood and see who is assembling CARE packages for the men and women overseas. Your neighborhood firehouse might be a good starting point. Imagine what would be most fun for you to receive unexpectedly if you were in the middle of a hostile desert far from home. My wife and I went around last week and dropped off a dozen frisbees. Almost anything is appreciated by these young folks who are sacrificing themselves for us.
Thanks,
Pat Wilson

Messages can be sent to our service men and women through this site. Without our Veterans we would not have the freedoms and opportunities that we have.
God Bless.
Take Care
Michael
Thank you.It is good to be apreciated as opposed to the reception I got 36 years ago. I did it because I love America and therefore it was my duty.

Michael - Actually, I allow URLs to be posted (although they get caught in the filter because of spam); hyper-linking has been disabled. Thanks for the URL!
You can also send your thanks to our service men and women at http://www.defendamerica.mil/nmam.html

He should praise all veterans..considering he and Dick Cheney made the honorable choice to go and see combat and risk their lives. What a man of substance!
If military service were ever a requirement for being president, Matthew, your sarcastic point would have merit. Thanks for playing.
To all vets reading: Thank you for your service.
And spread the word -
The “enlightened” networks are spending more time honoring Yassar Arafat - a person who deprived his people of freedom for 40 years - than those veterans who allowed us to be free.
Thanks Vets
LaShawn,
Thank you for the post on veterans. I served in the Marine Corps from 1985-1989. I think it will always be one of the most memorable times of my life. Yesterday was the Marine Corps Birthday and I thought it was fitting to do a little tribute on my blog and talk about some of what I learned as a Marine.
Days like this make me proud of my country; regardless of what the Lefties might think.
La Shawn
Vietnam 65-66. 8 years Air Force. I was proud to serve and would so again, even for opportunists like Matthew.
Here’s another great site. Folks I work with were overseas and they said they really appreciated getting things from them:

I would like to thank all of the Vets. who have made many sacrifices in their lives so that I might be free. Those sacrifices range from leaving a girl/boyfriend to go fight a war in distant lands to giving their lives for us. THANK YOU VETS!! You are the real heroes in this land.
Also, I want to give a special thank you to my brother who is now a veteran of 2 wars. Thanks Kev!
I to thank and honor all the vets among us. My Papa served in WW2, Korea and Viet Nam.
He died September 22 2000.
He was proud of his service, and his country.
So is his oldest daughter.
LaShawn,
Air Force 1976 to 1982 for me and 1972 to 1982 for my husband.
We are both proud of our service and proud to support the men and women serving now!
Thank you, veterans!
Semper Fi.
I was blessed before I even came into being because of all our veterans. My daddy served in WWII and he died just a few years ago. I miss him so very much. He loved this country dearly and instilled in me the meaning of *freedom* and how All Veterans gave that gift to me.
God Bless All Our Veterans and All Currently Serving.
Thanks to all you Vets out there, from any War. My Dad was in ‘Nam, my Grandfather was in WW2.
To all the Vets, especially the Marines, SEMPER FI OOOH-RA!!
LaShawn Thank you for the kind words.

God Bless our veterans!!
HAPPY VETERANS DAY!!!!
and…HAPPY DEAD ARAFAT DAY!!!
Hey LaShawn and everyone, thank you for your words of appreciation for vets and our military. I send the same wishes. I served in the Air Force from ‘85 - ‘90. My hubby has been in the AF for 25 years and counting.
Blessings, all.
Pathetic that our Veterans Day will henchforth be synomnous with dead Arafish day.
French conspiracy to artificially keep him alive long enough to spit on our brave men & women?
I thank all who have defend our freedom and have given of themselves and often their lifes for not only this nation but for the world as a whole.
The Black Informant has a good article btw on his site titled: “Veteran’s Day: Thank you Uncle Bryant”
It is located at http://blackinformant.com/index.php?p=221
Thanks for the kind words La Shawn. Let me add my own thanks to all my brothers and sisters - and my children Alicia (82nd Airborne in the Gulf, Joint Service mission in Iraq), and my son Gregg (101st Airborne in the Gulf, 20th Special Forces in Afghanistan).

Thank you for your remembrance.
Band of Brothers…..
Vietnam ‘71-72.
Sincere thanks to all the vets who posted here, and to all U.S. vets everywhere.
I’m sorry La Shawn.
I see that we are not suppose to attempt to place links in our comments. Guess I wasn’t paying attention when I posted my first comment.
Sorry.
A HEARTFELT THANK YOU TO ALL FELLOW VETERANS!
When the final history of the world is written, the least of them will occupy a higher place than the lowly Arafat. They will be remembered, he will be forgotten, the fawning media notwithstanding.
Give thanks to the real defenders of freedom and liberties and its sure not the politicians who scribble their signatures to various treaties and documents
Mr. Johnson,
You opined that:
“The direction of the late 19th/early 20th century Republicans was to keep blacks servile and more or less obedient.”
I’d be interested in reading how the Republicans were singlehandedly successful in keeping blacks under foot if you would recommend some references.
