logoIf you’re reading this post, you’re a blog reader. Here’s your chance to show appreciation for hard-working bloggers. Wizbang is calling for Weblog Award nominations for 2004. Nominations close on November 28, 2004, and voting for finalists in each category begins December 1, 2004.

Categories (33) include Best Overall Blog, Best New Blog (Established 2004), Best Group Blog, Best Humor Blog, Best Liberal Blog, Best Conservative Blog, Best Election Coverage, Best Media/Journalist Blog, and many more.

If you’re a big fan of blogs and would like to see your favorites contending for “best” this or “best” that, go on over and put in your nominations!

Unrelated Addendum: Check out Bush’s numbers in the Ohio provisional votes count.

Update (11/21): Polipundit says: “And, as I’ve noted, the red states are getting much redder, making it difficult for Senate Democrats to get elected in red states.”

Let’s hope it bodes well for Republicans in the mid-term elections.

Hmmm, let’s see… who will I recommend? :-) No brainer here.

La Shawn 11.20.04 at 5:40 pm

Who…me? You’re so sweet. But there are a lot of good bloggers out there whose stuff is much better than mine. Competition is stiff. It would be quite an accomplishment and a reward in itself just to be a finalist.

Renee 11.20.04 at 6:12 pm

You just gotta love those OH numbers:-)

Hmm, let’s see, what caused that…

Bin Laden video? Fox News?

La Shawn?

How long have you had your blog up and running? I was wondering do you qualify for the “Best New Blog” category?

Thanks.

La Shawn 11.20.04 at 7:10 pm

I started in November 2003, Gary. I celebrated my “blogiversary” the week of the presidential election. You would’ve nominated me? I’m touched.

Frank Villon 11.20.04 at 7:55 pm

La Shawn,

I did nominate you, and the only difficulty was in trying to choose the best category in which to nominate you. I wish they had a “Best Christian blog” category, but that would probably be asking too much. Drat.

I also had thought of the “Best New Blog (Established 2004)” but as you noted above, you started in November 2003. Drat again.

Someone beat me to nominating you in “Best Conservative Blog” (drat again!) so I nominated you in “Best Media/Journalist Blog.” I think that’s fitting.

Here’s praying that God may continue to bless you and your blog.

Hi La Shawn..
I cast my vote for you in 2 categories. Best Blog..and Best conservative blog. All of a sudden I’ve become this blog junkie. I read bits and pieces of alot of blogs..but I find myself reading yours everyday.
When I was given the chance to comment on my nomination I really dug deep into my creative mind and came up with the ever so breathtaking line...
How’s that for originality..hee hee. Good luck..I hope your day is good. Ray..

Can’t a blog be named in more than one category and by multiple bloggers or commenters La Shawn? Isn’t the winner in a category based on the total number of votes by different bloggers/commenters in that category?

For those first time voters a little confused as to how to vote, like me, go to Wizbang by LaShawns link, click on ‘33 categories are now open’ link, scroll down to list of categories, click on a category, now just leave a comment containing http://lashawnbarber.com in the comment. :)

Repeat this for each category you would like to vote in, leaving the blog address you vote for in a comment.

Show La Shawn your love!

Hummmmm..my post didn’t have my breathtaking and creative line in it. My line was “A Must Read”.
Pretty orginal,huh? hee hee. Ray..

La Shawn

Do you know on average how many people vote for the “Weblog 2004 Awards”. How popular is the voting? Do they get thousands of people that participate? I am so excited for you. What a great way to acknowledge people’s talents and hard work. Even if someone doesn’t win, it must be nice to just be part of all the talent. I think you have a good chance of making it to the finals and maybe even winning. How many years have they had the awards now?

Tom B. 11.21.04 at 9:54 am

Thanks La Shawn. My top votes for best blog would go to The Corner on NRO, Hugh Hewitt, and Power Line. They are absolute must reads for those wanting to stay up on the latest news and political analysis.

Evangelical Outpost, Stones Cry Out, and Christian Conservative are the best of the Christian-related blogs, in my opinion. Crosswalk also has some good blogs, in particular, Al Mohler of the Southern Baptist Convention.

My dear friend in Christ,

Honey, there are hundreds of blogs out there. There are blogs for just about anything you want. There are outstanding blogs, unique blogs, clever blogs, foul mouth blogs (UUgh, You hear me) there are published writers with blogs, newspapers, all forms of media blogs.

I have been reading blogs for over two years and you and I know who lead me to a few coming out of bulletin boards. Seems light years ago now.

I can tell you with ABSOLUTELY NO QUESTION, OR HESITATION…YOU ARE FLYING…SOARING WHERE EVEN EAGLES CAN NOT…YOU SOAR WITH A CLASS OF ANGELS THAT NO OTHER BLOG HAS ATTAINED IN ONE YEARS TIME!

My vote is an easy ride as I will guide my hands from my Father in Heaven using my keyboard on my laptop entering your name. It was already decided from those of us who adore you.

You will see this from time to time and it is not a blog nor an ad, it’s been a part of me for more years than I even knew.

Blessings, from Inspirational Journeys. Org. Janelle, proud MaMa of Dean’s World. How very thankful I am that you placed your little precious stamp upon his blog. You are really loved and prayed for most sincerely, most sincerely.

While speaking at Ashland (Ohio)College on 11-18-04 on the topic “Racial Rebellion: The End of the Victim/Grievance Movement”, U.S. Commissioner on Civil Rights Peter Kirsanow was asked if Booker T. Washington still occupied a prominent place in Black history education. The commish said that among a number of conservative Black blogs, one has BTW’s name in its title.

Go Booker!

Thanks for the comments, everybody!

Gary – This is the first I’ve ever heard of the weblog awards. I suspect that more people will vote this time around now that blog-awareness has increased. Thanks for nominating me!

Janelle – What can I say? You’re an inspiration. All of us who “blog for God” open ourselves up to criticism, scrutiny and hatred, but I believe the Lord’s hand is in this. As long as I’m able, I’ll keep blogging, awards or no awards. As I begin a second year, I’m excited about 2005 and the endless possibilities. God is good all the time. :)

I think your blog’s fantastic. The numbers on the Ohio provisional ballots are just fantastic. It makes me laugh even harder at these fantasist liberals who are wringing their hands and saying “ooooh, that President Bush, he better reach out to the Democrats, he better be more moderate…” The man won 51% of the popular vote and the largest number of popular votes in the history of America. If that’s not a mandate, then the word has no meaning. I remember the Democrats’ “mandate” chest-beating after Clinton’s squeaker plurality election. I guess only Democrats can have mandates from the people…overwhelmingly elected conservatives can only be the product of the unwashed masses’ stupidity, and dismissed accordingly.

re: The Update

The red states are getting redder. My home state of WV is a red state. Could this mean we’ll get rid of Robert Byrd?

As much as I hope so, unless he decides to retire (which I can’t see happening), I seriously doubt it. Still, it’s worth hoping for.

LawWife 11.22.04 at 4:39 pm

Rock on, Mountaineers! Robin, I never thought I’d see the day that WV voted for a Republican presidential candidate (heck, we were one of the 10 states that voted for Dukakis! *blush*), but in the two elections I’ve been eligible to vote, the Mountain State has gone Republican in the presidential race. Who knew?! :D BTW, I had nothing to do with the 2004 race…I’m a resident of VA now.

Robin S. 11.22.04 at 7:52 pm

I’ve been trying to figure out WHY WV tends to vote Democrat. My dad, for example, could go through the party platforms point by point, and he’d agree with the Republicans at least twice as often, but he is still ADAMANT that he supports the Democrats. That seems to be true of most people I talk to around here. I don’t get it.
