Update on the DC Blogger Meet-up:
So far about 15 people will be meeting up at B. Smith’s restaurant on December 30, and I’m looking forward to meeting each and every one. If you’re a DC-area blogger or know of any interested in meeting others, please e-mail me for more details.
Do you know who Barbara Smith is? Her restaurant is very nice. They serve a variety of dishes, with an emphasis on Southern cuisine. A variety of people eat there as well. It’s affordable enough for people like myself and prestigious enough for Capitol Hill’s politicians. (I once shook hands with a post-impeachment Bill Clinton. I had to be polite, didn’t I?) I even saw my pastor there once.
Please spread the word about the meet-up. And VOTE FOR ME.
Unrelated Update: Guess what? Our favorite commenter, Scsiwuzzy, just started a blog. Commenter Renee has had one for awhile. Go check them out!
Very Important Update: The blogger meet-up is NON-PARTISAN. Liberals, moderates and others are invited.
Another Update: One of the creators of Ratherbiased.com may be joining us for dinner. The site existed before Rathergate, by the way. I can’t imagine the kind of traffic they got after old Dan embarrassed himself.

You’re supposed to be polite…[g]
Have fun at the meetup!
I voted for you, LaShawn!
Southern cuisine, eh? I guess she has chicken ‘n’ dumplin’s and chicken fried steak, then. What about jambalaya or dirty rice?
Thanks Michael and Cindy!
I haven’t “seen” you in awhile, Jennifer. I think they serve jambalaya. I don’t know about chicken fried steak. Confession: I’ve never had any.
They serve catfish (my favorite), pork chops, etc., and give you decent portions, no tiny dishes of anything.
Boy, am I jealous. It’s a shame that Denver is so far away. These folks here in Denver think that chicken and dumplin’s come out of a Campbell’s can.
I’m jealous! Why are all the smart and pretty women meeting in DC?
B. Smith has a lovely show — it’s a good thing — that is like a classy version of Martha Stewart’s old show. I’ve caught it once in awhile during the wee hours of a Saturday or Sunday morning. She’s wicked cool, gracious and charming.
LOL It’s “I hadn’t seen you fer awhile”.
Don’t you know your proper Southern English?
If you like fried chicken, then you would probably like chicken fried steak. Especially if you’re “hawwwngray” (hungry). Sounds like a mighty fine place to visit.
BTW, I read your blog everyday and comment a little when I can. I get in a big rush when I’m on the internet. lol
Jennifer – Every time I’m in SC for a visit, I have to get used to the accents all around me, although my family and I don’t have southern accents (that I can hear). From local news anchors to people in a store, the accents are uniquely and unmistakably southern!
Wow, Barbara Smith is beautiful!! Wish I could be there with ya’ll!!!
Alas I am stuck in Western Canada!!
La Shawn, First, South Carolina is very beautiful. My feeling is that in Georgia and surrounding areas, there is a deeper accent than over my way in Texas. You guys sound like beauty queens. We just sound like hicks.
Her restaurant made the TravelChannel not too long ago for great places to eat southern when not in the Deep South. I’m sure I’ll have to swing by when I next make it to D.C.
