Her restaurant made the TravelChannel not too long ago for great places to eat southern when not in the Deep South. I’m sure I’ll have to swing by when I next make it to D.C.

La Shawn, First, South Carolina is very beautiful. My feeling is that in Georgia and surrounding areas, there is a deeper accent than over my way in Texas. You guys sound like beauty queens. We just sound like hicks.

Jennifer – Every time I’m in SC for a visit, I have to get used to the accents all around me, although my family and I don’t have southern accents (that I can hear). From local news anchors to people in a store, the accents are uniquely and unmistakably southern!

LOL It’s “I hadn’t seen you fer awhile”. Don’t you know your proper Southern English? If you like fried chicken, then you would probably like chicken fried steak. Especially if you’re “hawwwngray” (hungry). Sounds like a mighty fine place to visit.

BTW, I read your blog everyday and comment a little when I can. I get in a big rush when I’m on the internet. lol

B. Smith has a lovely show — it’s a good thing — that is like a classy version of Martha Stewart’s old show. I’ve caught it once in awhile during the wee hours of a Saturday or Sunday morning. She’s wicked cool, gracious and charming.

I haven’t “seen” you in awhile, Jennifer. I think they serve jambalaya. I don’t know about chicken fried steak. Confession: I’ve never had any.

They serve catfish (my favorite), pork chops, etc., and give you decent portions, no tiny dishes of anything.
