Thanks for giving me specific things to pray about for you. "No one when he lights a lamp hids it under a bushel..." I will pray that the rays of your lamp will shine far and wide for Him.

Blessings.

La Shawn:

With the writing talent you possess and display on this blog, I'm shocked that you are "...afraid to take risks in real life." You're too good, go for it with gusto!

You are as always - full of crapola. Let's see if this comment makes it...

Congratulations! Your comment indeed made it. This must be very exciting for you. Because I won't have to deal with bored, cowardly, anonymous teenagers with low IQs anymore (I'm getting rid of commenting), I decided, "Why not?" Again, congratulations. Your juvenile efforts paid off. - Admin

Hello La Shawn.
There is another black female blogger, 'Baldilocks'. She's quite good as a writer too. :)

I look forward to your new format. And I am so happy to see you are not embarrassed or intimidated in standing up publically as a Christian.
Bless you and may the New year be an extra good one for you.

Best Regards

Remembering Our Creditors--An Entry for La Shawn Barber
La Shawn Barber has been talking up the coming transition to her new blog format, which will, unfortunately, dispense with posted reader comments. This is, I suppose, a sign that La Shawn is moving up in the Blogosphere. She certainly seems to think so...

Hey LaShawn, love you. Your resolutions are fantastic. If only I could be as resolute to walk the walk. But alas, I am a hypocrite. Oh, and read your post about non-white bloggers! Count me in, I am ambiguously asian and also ambiguously a-sexual (trying to hide behind a blog-dentity so as not to scare away clients - me lawyer, boo hiss!). I am going to add you to my blogroll, can't wait till you get one of those syndicated columns!

Good luck to you and all your goals. I enjoy reading your columns and can't wait to see the changes in store. I did mention you on my very new site and did try to trackback but I guess I haven't caught on to the technology yet.

My resolutions are:
1. Read through the Bible. I've read the whole thing, but never straight through in one year. I think it will be a good discipline, but it won't get me out of additional Bible study.

2. Spend more time in intercessory prayer. I know too many people who need it for me not to pray on their behalf.

3. Lose 15-30 lbs. My arthritis demands that I do this. It hurt a lot less before my last child was born and I haven't been able to get back to my weight before him (15 lbs.) much less before my first (30 lbs.)

4. Be better at sending birthday cards and that kind of thing that my mother always did that I know made people feel great, but that I've never been all that committed to doing myself.

5. Read The Idiot because a friend told me that it's a good book but that I couldn't find time to read it while raising three kids. I just have to prove him wrong as a matter of principle.

God bless you in 2005 and beyond, Myssi

Ms. Barber,

Your resolutions are most laudable and daily reading of the Bible is necessary. As for being in the top 50 or 60 ranking, it is my opinion your blog will move quickly to the top – you are an exceptional writer, although I do not know you personally, an exceptional individual.

In my opinion, all your resolutions will come to reality in 2005 and this writer, a male Caucasian, would like to see many more African-Americans throw out the liberal verbiage akin to bondage. It saddens me when hearing African-American leaders’ put-down the very people they are supposedly there to help. Education should be a rallying point and not the continued rhetoric of racism and division.

Yours in Christ always,

Ed Hart
