1) I like the new look especially the three-column look with the main center column justified. My present resolution setting is 1024 x 768, Windows XP, IE 6+.

2) I’m not that particular on the use of categories but I do like them more than the one single list of blog links. I like the use of comments but after reading some of Michelle Malkins “trash” I can certainly understand the need to eliminate them or at least limit them to only a few posts. I like the aesthetic changes and the position of your side containers is immaterial. My main interest is in your writing and communication of thoughts and overall information. Isn’t that the real importance of any of us having and maintaining a blog?

3) Suggestions and changes would have to come from someone other than a non-computer geek like myself. The little codex I know comes strictly from trial and error and the dependence on many friends. At the present time I can not think of any new features other than I enjoy pictures along with some posts to add variety.

Please keep up the excellent work and I’m sure there are many individuals well qualified out in the Blogosphere to help with the many technical details. As for now, your site looks especially good and easy to read. Thank you…

I think someone made a comment about text size. I’m using Firefox and I can increase the size of text on the page.

If you like the overall improved resolution, but find the text too small, you can click on the “Advanced” button and under the General tab, change the font to display at a larger %. Default setting is “normal at 96dpi”.

Experiment and see what works for you. If other applications look fine as is, i.e. Word, Excel etc, but the browser text is too small to read comfortably, then focus instead on changing the Browser’s view settings. Go to the menu and click on View | Text Size and change to suit.

I like the new design. Everything looks pretty good on my 12″ Powerbook screen. I’m using Safari 1.2.4 and 1024 x 768 and don’t seem to have any trouble with your blogroll etc.

I don’t care much one way or the other for the categories — I don’t have a lot of problems with just skimming through the full list. I do (half-jokingly) support the No-Talent Hack category idea, though.

Please, please, PLEASE don’t make links automatically open in a new window. It annoys me to no end when sites do that. (Small popups for comment links are okay. Regular links, no.) For those who want a new window, I’m almost certain that there should be an easy way to force a link into a new window. On the other hand, for those of us who like having a minimal number of windows open under most circumstances, clicking a link becomes a chore when they auto open in a new window: Click link. Close old window. Lose history. Sigh when you realize you can’t get back to where you were half an hour ago by clicking the “back” button. I realize how petty that complaint really is, but it’s one of my pet peeves.

To see the right pane, scroll right using the scroll bar at the bottom of the sreen.

-or- change your display resolution to 1024×768. To do this, right click on a blank area of your desktop screen. Left click ‘properties’ then left click ’settings’tab. Move ’screen area’ bar to the right to increase resolution to 1024×768. Left click OK. Your display will temp go blank and recover showing new resolution. If it looks ok, left click YES or ACCEPT on query window showing to save and use this new resolution.

Repeat above to switch back to 800×600 if you don’t like the smaller size text and icons at any time in the future.
