Somebody Call The Diversity Cops!

Perhaps the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) should look into this. According to the African-American Chamber of Commerce, 81.8 percent of black firm employees are black. Given that blacks are only 12 percent of the population, something’s not quite right, is it? But that’s not the point of the article. This is: black firms are having a hard time finding qualified blacks to work in their companies:

The firms, each of which was African-American owned, said that being able to hire qualified African-Americans is a high priority for their businesses….Clearly, the shortage of productive workforce development assistance is not unique to black-owned firms, but because such firms tend to be smaller and to have lesser capital resources, the impact on them is greater.

So why not “diversify?” Because if they did, the firms would no longer be majority black. It’s implicit, but it’s there. And guess why black businesses are especially impacted by the shortage of talent. You guessed right. Good old racial discrimination.

It’s white people’s fault that black firms can’t find blacks with the skill-sets they need:

It appears that there is a very tangible need for workforce development training for the staffs and potential staffs of small and minority firms in the Philadelphia area. The combination of discrimination in public and private sector contracting, and the lack of well-trained workforces makes for a very unsettling business climate for black-owned firms.”

It’s implicit, but it’s there. They’ve got it twisted, though. Discrimination occurs when businesses or government agencies are “encouraged” to contract black- or women-owned firms because they’re “minority” owned, which excludes white male-owned firms.

Do I really want the EEOC to force black-owned firms to hire whites? Of course not, but if they’re going to push “diversity” down the throats of some, everybody should have to swallow it.
