I knew it would come to this one day, and I’ve been dreading it.
I can no longer answer all of my e-mail. It’s getting to be too much, which is a good thing, but some of you won’t hear back from me, which is a bad thing. I won’t have time to blog or work on projects if I spend it trying to answer every e-mail.
I know how I feel when writers I admire reply to my e-mail. It’s flattering to know they took time to read my thoughts and respond, and I will continue to do the same as much as I can. But I am no longer able to say, “I answer every e-mail.”
I assure you that I read every e-mail, and on occasion, I will post interesting ones on the blog.
Thanks for reading.
Update (7/2): Unless you request otherwise, e-mail may be published on this blog.

Sigh. I always liked the idea if I emailed Lashawn I’d get a reply back…ya know to tell my friends,”yeah, Lashawn emailed me the other day…” Oh well, I completely understand, I have trouble returning the two emails I might receive in a day. Keep up the great work, Lashawn!
Totally understand
LaShawn,
I never expected you to answer personally anyway
I had hoped a response in the blog, but I guess I’m looking for my 15 minutes!!! *laugh*
Keep up the good work!
Dan
I also never expected a response but you answered twice. I hope you will enjoy your ‘extra time’ not spent crafting replies to emails.
Thanks for doing what you do. We understand.
Pat the Retired Geezer from Boise, Idaho.
Just do what I do: keep your basement filled with Chinese immigrants at computers who answer your email, come up with witty remarks, and grammar check your posts for $.12 an hour.
I even got Hiun Chao, the guy who gave Glenn his “indeed”
See, I knew it. Soon you’ll move in to a big castle in a guarded community and have no time to spend with us peasants anymore and we won’t be able to make direct eye contact with you whenever you travel about in your royal chariot.
I miss the old days.
Well, I take it as a sign of your success so I won’t complain!
I just hope you never have to make the decision to turn comments totally off or eliminate trackbacks. I find a lot of new great blogs by following the links in those. Some really smart and classy people read your site.
did that come off as sucking up? too bad, I really mean it!
You’re right, Janette. A lot of classy and great people read my blog.
I have to say….
You’ve reached the second level !
I can’t wait until you reach the third and forth levels….
3rd level = Interviewed by Fox News occassionally
4th level = Sworn into a governmental position!!
This post made me think of a comment by Jerry Pournelle (who also gets a lot of mail) on his site’s “mail” page: “I am reminded of H. P. Lovecraft who slowly starved to death while answering fan mail.”
Don’t starve to death, La Shawn. I’m sure that you, too, are dancing as fast as you can.
You will not be able to read all of the comments soon either. Perhaps when you launch your new business you can employ a few interns to be your filters - hell, Congress does it.
La Shawn,
I hope nobody ever contacted you JUST to get a response! Like:
“Dear La Shawn,
Please write back to me. I like getting a response from you.
Sincerely,
Somebody”
We’re still going to hear from you on the comments pages, right?
God bless you!
Shayne
I second Baklava.
We still love you, La Shawn
La Shawn,
If you can, please check your email today. Look for the subject Lt. Pantano, if you would.
Oh La Shawn, that is so understanable and knowing you read the e-mail says so much about that kind heart of yours. I believe we understand sweetheart and you just take the time to really feel good so many of us love you and your style. I love the Spirit in which you post and your genuine love and respect for each of your words. Words in print say so much about the writer and their genuine personhood. When I come here I know your words will lay gently on my mind.
