Me And Kevin Aylward

kevin This is Wizbang’s Kevin Aylward. He’s nice. He said he’d link to this post tonight.

Because most events are packed with college students, most bloggers decided to remain on bloggers row. I didn’t realize what a nerd I was until I came here. I met several DC-area bloggers a few months ago, but we didn’t have computers so I didn’t pick up on the nerd factor. But here…oh, man! Surrounded by a bunch of fanatical bloggers and techies for two days straight, all day, has had an effect on me. I’ll blog about that later.

I finally got my interview with Herman Cain. He gave me so much material. His how-I-became-a-conservative story is incredible. I’ll transcribe and post later. I took a picture with him, too. I also posed for photos with Jesse Peterson and Mona Charen. All around, it’s been a great day.

The blogger I’ve been hanging out with the most is Matt Margolis (also the brains behind Blogs for Bush). He wasn’t even born when Ronald Reagan was elected the first time. Can you believe it?

La Shawn, I am struck by how lovely eyes. They are so warm and friendly and bright :D

Larry Elder’s show is trying to get into contact with me about intereviewing with them. I am asking for your to e-mail me here to be sure that you get it. I have a few questions that I thought you might be able to help me with.

You look happy. Glad you’re having fun and doing a good service as well, as always.

For a sober review of the Conservative Political Action Conference.

Anomalocaris 02.19.05 at 12:13 am

There was an interesting review of the Conservative Political Action Conference by Michelle Goldberg at http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2005/02/19/cpac/

Goldberg reports that the attendees all seemed to believe an unnamed member of Congress who claimed that we did find, and still are finding, WMD in Iraq. If conservatives really want to convince other to join, it’s important to stay grounded in reality — which includes the reality of no discovery of WMD in Iraq.

Anomalocaris, turn the mirror around 180 degrees to see the Lies and the Lying Liars

Anomalocaris 02.19.05 at 3:55 am

Dear Andy,

Thank you for your kind thoughts, but they are not apropos. If conservatives want to win the hearts and minds of the America, not for just one election, but for a generation, truth is always the path. It’s regrettable that some conservatives, including top Bush administration officials, saw fit to dissemble about weapons of mass distruction. This is not good for the long-term success of conservatism.

Get off the Bush Lied & No WMD meme. That meme was kited and found wanting during the elections.

Anomalocaris 02.19.05 at 4:48 am

Dear Andy,

Thank you for your comments. You are correct that on election day 2004, many American voters believed on that weapons of mass destruction were found in Iraq. You are correct that pointing out this error did not result in a win for the Kerry-Edwards ticket. That has no bearing on the truth of whether such weapons were found, and in fact they were not found.

Hey . . . LaShawn – Marion Barry’s done it again and gotten himself arrested because he was struggling with a cop at his home – details are scarce at this time. Someone should set up a BarryWatch. Don’t look at me – I don’t live in DC and I don’t have time.

Andy 02.19.05 at 12:12 pm

Anom,

Pray tell, please define WMD, so we know if we’re talking about the same thing.

Is it one or more of the following?
1) Biological weapons
2) Nuclear materials
3) Weapons delivery systems
4) High Energy Expolsives
5) A horde of machete-wielding savages
5) A cabal of murdering tyrants who kill & torture for pleasure

While we’re at it, please quantify “Mass”
1) >10 people
2) >100 people
3) >1,000 people
4) >10,000 people
5) >100,000 people
6) >1,000,000 people
7) >1,000,000,000 people

Andy,

Why should Anom have to define WMD? Didn’t our president do a perfectly fine job of doing that himself? Mushroom clouds and imminent threats and all that nice stuff? :-)

Andy 02.20.05 at 1:05 am

You see Mike, the point here is that, whether or not a blog discussion gets into a knock-down drag-out debate, we’re not doing ourselves any favors to let a lie pass unchallenged.

For the same reason most of us know Webster’s definition of “is”.

If someone is going to debunk WMD, I’d like to hear their meaning of “is” before cracking the shell of disinformation with the squared ring of sharp edged truth like nippers. Know what I mean? ;)

S.W. Anderson & Mark Noonan have an excellent discussion regarding political lying and conniving which conditioned the Germans to accept more of the same from Hitler a generation later. Check it out at
http://themoderatevoice.powerblogs.com/posts/1107007620.comments.shtml

My 2 cents to their comments is that Prov 22:6 & 8 supports the notion that wickedness, or in this discussion, extremisim, can generally be traced to what children learn fom their elders. Children, under the leftist mantra of multi-culti tolerance, learn intolerance and will rationalize untruths to justify their intolerance and anger.

Now, their rebellioness is coming around full circle, just when the elites (moonbats) would be justified in thinking that they suceeded in molding and shaping “conventional wisdom” of the masses to their POV, they find that it ain’t happening, hence the frothing and raving.

The leftist radicals need an underdog to rally around to support their hatred of a common enemy – western Civilization or more specifically American Civilization and Judeo-Christian moral values. They lost the USSR when it imploded economically, they lost again when the Peace Dividend turned out to be a figment of imagination, so now it’s “all hail to the insurgents”.

Nevermind if the insurgents get their way, the leftists will get their throats slit like lambs at slaughter.

Lola 02.20.05 at 7:40 am

Turns out I was wrong – it was actually his son, Christopher Barry, not pere, who was arrested.

Mike M. 02.20.05 at 8:03 am

Andy,

Please don’t confuse liberalism with Communism thuggery.

The whole “liberals hate western civilization” thing is so played. Liberals just hate the whole “liberal imperialism” thing.

Andy 02.20.05 at 10:49 am

Mike M.,

Hence Leftist radicalism instead of Liberalism. Even so most of today’s liberals don’t meet the clasical definition of the word.
