FrankJ at IMAO.us (a Right sided comedy blog) said “you wouldn’t starve a dog to death, so why is it humane to starve a human?”

Why doesn’t her husband just hand custody back to her parents? I don’t get it. Especially if she can say a few words, and show reaction and recognize people, that is not a brain dead “vegetable”. She will know when the tube is removed, and I have no doubt fully feel pain from starving to death.

I can’t judge him for finding another woman, or not being mentally able to endure it anymore, after all it’s been so many years. But if he had any dignity he would allow her parents to care for her. There is no excuse for his behavior.

Its too damn bad it dosnt involve a rare animal or plant or she was a death row inmate then the liberals would be going out of their way to save her i mean its plain sick when there are those who care more for some worthless plant or aninal or some damn rappist then they do this poor woman i mean why dont her rotten husband get involved in a accedent and see how he likes having his life support disconnected

Where I part company is with those, including the Pope, who say there is a moral obligation to provide food and water to those who are conslusively in a persistent vegetative state.

I have my doubts about the Schiavo case mainly because she didn’t have a living will and because there is disagreement about her condition.

However, if people are claiming that it is always wrong to deny food and water regardless of one’s neurological state, then I dissent. My own living will provides that feeding tubes are not to be used if I am found to be in a PVS, for the sooner I will be in paradise, hallelujah, praise God.

I do oppose all forms of euthanasia, which I define as the use of medicine or device to hasten death.

Does anybody know what LOGISTICALLY Jeb Bush could do to stop this. Does he have the power to issue an Executive Order in Florida? Does he have to power to order a investigation into the cause of her injuries and take her into protective custody as a result?

On some of the blogs, they talk about the Florida constitution providing a basis for saving her life–but how, logistically, could Bush use this?

I believe in the right of an individual to determine not to be medically supported after the mind is gone. My family knows this is my desire. At 73, you think about things like that.
I think that the legal machinery should provide for an annulment when the family objects to the husband’s decision, and I also believe that consideration should be given to the expense of maintaining Terri on the public dole, as opposed to health care for those who will recover.
