I don't care what I have to pay for strawberries. I'm certain that once the cheap labor is unavailable, the market will re-adjust itself. Illegal aliens, non-citizens, are breaking the backs of Americans, and I will speak out and write about it as much and as loudly as I want to. I'm sympathetic to AMERICANS FIRST.

Clinics is CA are closing left and right because of the burden placed on them by illegal aliens with no insurance, for example. I sympathize with Americans who now have fewer healthcare options. Government schools, as bad as they were before, have gotten worse thanks to poor English-speaking students. I sympathize with Americans who have little choice but to send their kids to rotten government schools.

And "Caucasians" aren't the only ones falling under your warped definition of ungrateful. This Negro is ungrateful, too, "Cruz."

All of those who think that illegal immigrants should go back to their native country, I want to see you guys pick strawberries in the fields in hot weather for two dollars an hour, and see if you really want to do their jobs. They are not taking jobs from rightful caucasians, they are taken jobs that no one wants and will do. Instead of being ungrateful because there are illegals in this "great country" you should be grateful to pay $.99 for a box of strawberries. You say that they are commiting illegal acts, when we live in a society that is drawn to commiting illegal acts. Is it not hypocritical. Americans feel sympathy for those who are in the eastern hemisphere but screw those who are in neighboring countries and are persecuted and starving. Hypocrities synonymous of Americans.

We must recognize we are in a real war. Our federal government is deliberately allowing another country to invade our borders. It's not an armed invasion (although I read that many are armed), but it's an invasion and must be stopped. I know it will require direct and harsh force that the piss ants in Washington will never release.

What we need is a militia and an active reserve officer corps that can train and educate its members in the proper use of arms and self-protection techniques against foreign and internal enemies. I do not fear the external as much as the internal.

I know, in my heart, that I can take 2 companies of the worst we could train in 10 days and stop this invasion within 120 days. There may be a bit of blood and guts here and there but, at the end of the day, those bastards will know how and why my 4 great grandfathers and 2 great, great grandfathers kicked the asses of a bunch of goddamn Yankees who also invaded our homeland. (A little incentive, like a fat cash bonus for every head shot at 500 yards with open sights, goes a long way to producing quick results. At one time, I could make that shot and on a windy day!)

How do militias differ from the military? There is a strong distinction to be understood between the goals of "The Military" and the "Militia". The armed forces of a nation have as their mission the goals of the government. We are led to think that the goals of the government are an expression of the will of the people. It is clear from any examination of history that this is rarely true. The goals of the military are in reality established by deeply entrenched power structures behind the government, which more often than not do not have the well-being of the people as their primary objective, although we have been led to believe that is the motive.

John Adams is supposed to have said: "It is freedom, gentlemen. It is freedom and not a choice of the forms of servitude for which we contend. We entertain no jealousy of the present Congress, but who knows but in some future corrupt times there may be a Congress which may form a design upon the liberties of the people. And will it be difficult to execute such a design when they have absolute command of the navy, the army, and the purse?"

Well gentlemen, we have given the country over to George W. and his cowardly, corrupt supporters who will stop at nothing to weaken us more. Due to foolish little “red state” men, they do own the purse and our military. They will encourage the Wetbacks to continue to come and with open arms. In addition, they will continue to give away our jobs to foreign countries in order to enrich a relatively few international companies that are owned, in large part, by non-US citizens.

We need a militia, because, as those bastard Republicans so often tell us, “The private economy can do a better job than government bureaucrats.”

We need to keep the two issues, illegals and border security, separate. The overriding issue at the moment is security, in light of potential terrorist crossings. Pres. Bush not putting troops at the border since 9-11 is the most irresponsible and treasonous action by a president in my lifetime. It defies political labels. If Republicans are serious about controlling illegal immigration then they must put into place and enforce draconian measures, which harshly punish the employers who hire them. I know of Somalis, who regularly present themselves at Tijuana as "refugees" even though they are not. How much easier for actual terrorists to slip through into CA or AZ. Given the actions of Pres. Reagan and Pres. Bush regarding the illegals issue, how can conservatism even mean anything any more? Perhaps totally new definitions or labels are in order.

Thanks, Andy.
Yes, actus, I know drilling and refining are two different things. I also know that even if oil flowed by the trillions of gallons from mountain streams, it would be useless and horribly expensive without an ample number of non-overregulated refineries to process it. Thanks for the point about Venezuela/Louisiana, though. I'll add that to my list of "stuff about oil."

The Republican party is traditionally a pro-business anti-labor party. Our President is loathe to stop a low wage labor supply to business, and until he starts enforcing immigration law at the business source, no amount of enforcement at the border can stop poor people from crossing the border illegally to take advantage of what is high wages for them.

You have heard his words as have I regarding this.
Quote "I believe in matching an employer with a willing worker for those jobs they can't fill with American workers." Well of course, if the job wage is set to discourage an American worker and attract a third world worker, the employer will discover he can't find a match in America, no. Yes

This is political speak for:

"I want a cheap labor supply for business(GNP) growth at labors' wage and tax expense. The red state conservatives will still vote Republican."

"There is a political up-side for the party not to offend the Latino vote in tight elections. The red state conservatives will still vote Republican."

"The dear heart Democrats want to support these poor folk at American labors' wage and tax expense too, so they won't criticize my lax enforcement of immigration laws, excellent. The red state conservatives will still vote Republican."

"Let the conservative laborers drink the pro-business trickle down. They really have no other choice, now do they."

Here's the issue as I see it. We all know that the left controls big media, right? We also all know that a favorite tactic of the left is to make everything a "racist" issue. So if GWB started securing our borders, suddenly the entire old media would start screaming "racism"! (In fact, they already have!) What's a fellow to do? That's why the blogs are so important!

Lashawn , one other point I think some of the conservatives and especially the silly left forget that Clintion when he passed NAFTA and GATT that made our illegal problems even worse. That was some of the Stupidest piece of legislation that was ever passed. And this President refuses to do anything about it.

Good article, LaShawn. My only two comments are the Minutemen aren't the first - check out the American Border Patrol (http://www.americanpatrol.com/), and secondly, the President is not permitted to choose which laws he will defend. It is his duty to defend them ALL, including the security of our borders. If we have another major terrorist attack, the President, in my opinion, would be liable for impeachment for failure to enforce the laws of this nation, and deservedly so.

Americans for LEGAL Immigration is a wonderful sounding group name. I presume that one of the founding principles is the steadfast opposition to ILLEGAL immigration.
