When video blogger Trey “Action” Jackson e-mailed and said my blog was mentioned on CNN yesterday, I had to see/hear it to believe it. In Howard Kurtz’s segment on bloggers and the Federal Election Commission, he quoted Ed Morrissey (Captain’s Quarters) and me on the effect of federal regulations on blogs. From Liberal and Conservative Bloggers United:
“The one thing uniting liberal and conservative bloggers is a threat to our First Amendment rights.”
They made an excellent choice. Now I’m waiting for the cable network to call me for a guest spot. I know we conservatives refer to it as the Clinton News Network, the Communist News Network, and a few unmentionables, but appearing on one of their shows would be a major boost.
Speaking of which, events are rapidly unfolding in my world. I can’t tell you about them yet, but I may be in a better position to divulge details next week. I owe my raised profile in large part to blogger and writer Jeff Jarvis (He’s not even a conservative!), who has cited this blog at least twice on MSNBC. I like the way he says “La Shawn Barber dot com.”
Without readers, I’d have no profile at all.
Update: Instead of blogging the “State of the Black Union,” I’m writing an op-ed. I’ll let you know if/when/where it appears.

La Shawn,
I’m sure I speak for many other of your loyal readers when I say, congratulations! There is no other blogger more deserving of the national attention, IMHO.

La Shawn:
Good to hear that some of the “big boys” are feeling the influence of bloggers.
And you should hold up John McCain and his kind’s assault on the First Amendment rights of you and others as a badge of honor.

Not to mention that people who watch CNN out of convenience…and not really knowing any better would be able to see a bright, young conservative…:)

Keep up the good work, LaShawn! One of your multiple callings appears to be ‘Burr under the Saddle’ - better known as ‘Rock in the Shoe’!!! This is good - our contry needs constant reminders of what we were originally all about - not that the founding of America was all perfect but there were at least some good principals involved. I realize that progress should be ‘forward’, but there are times when we need to be reminded of where we have come from and what we really want to stand for! Onward and ever upward!!!

Very good! I think that this issue is very important. Blogs are a part of our first amendment rights, and I hope that the FEC decides to not regulate bloggers. If they do regulate, I see some lawyers making money.

LaShawn,
It’s always a blessing to read your take on politics and current events from a biblical perspective. I’ve been reading your blog for quite a while and you always brighten my day with your insight and wit. It’s no wonder others are starting to take notice.
Imagine how thrilled I was when you mentioned my pastor in one of your posts last year. I thought to myself, “How cool is that!”.
Keep up the good work!
Eddie

La Shawn, you are really emerging into the spotlight “for such a time as this.” There are no coincidences in God’s timeline. I’m delighted for you!

Hi La Shawn,
They mentioned my little punditdrome.com on Judy Woodruff’s Inside Politics also (link here). You may be able to find a transcript of the show that referenced your excellent blog on the CNN site as well.
I have no axe to grind with CNN. When it was first available on cable, it was such a relief to watch some news that wasn’t from the major networks. And they have some historic and notable scoops in their history.
It is a good thing that CNN is taking weblog commentary seriously (more so than Fox News, I would say). There is progress as long as there is dialog. I say, hooray for CNN!

oops, the link didn’t show up to the transcript — here is the one referenced above (re punditdrome.com):

I don’t think the transcript referenced in La Shawn’s show has shown up yet, will keep checking.

La Shawn,
I will agree with the comments above and just add, God Bless You and thank you for all you do. The reflection of Our Fathers Eyes is seen in You.

Thanks, everyone. Things aren’t set in stone, but I’m hopeful something great will happen.
Scott - You better be careful. Punditdrome may get bought out like the Daou Report.

Congratulations for your excellent take on current events and issues. It is great to have a voice from the right like yours–thoughtful, but tough. That’s a recipe for continuing readership. I know you will keep it up. Thanks.

I’m glad I can at least say, “I was reading La Shawn” way back before she became famous!

The problem with appearing on CNN is that no body that I know watches it anymore. Their agenda became so far left that the folks I run around with have their TV’s permanently welded to Fox News, and in some cases haven’t watched CNN in years. Heh.

Congratulations. Good luck, God knows you deserve it. No Jeff is not conservative but he is, or at least to me seems to be, honest and smart.
