MSNBC Round-Up

On March 10, 2005, I wrote that events were “rapidly unfolding in my world.” Very mysterious, wasn’t it? One of the events isn’t really a secret, but I wanted to be sure before I told everybody. I will be part of a stable of bloggers who’ll appear on MSNBC semi-regularly to do a round-up of what’s hot in the blogosphere. I’m not certain whether this will be every other day, once a week or once or twice a month. However frequent it is, it’s a great opportunity.

The segments will probably last 90 seconds tops, and I’ll highlight two or three blogs covering a particular issue. The round-up segments will be strictly informational. For instance, let’s say we’re discussing rapper Lil’ Kim’s perjury conviction. Not a peep of what I think will you hear, only who’s blogging about it.

Today I’ll be on “Connected Coast to Coast” around 5:20 p.m. to talk about the latest buzz in the blogosphere. Of course, the Terri Schiavo case is front and center. Rather than e-mailing me tips, please leave a comment to this post. And watch the show. :)

By the way, I think Political Correctness Kills is getting lost in the shuffle. I’m interested in your comments.

Also, a few things have changed since an hour ago. I may end up doing a segment before or after the round-up to discuss Terri Schiavo with another blogger.

Update (2:22 p.m.): The Terri Schiavo segment is out; we’ll do only the blogosphere round-up, which will include blogs covering the issue.

Update II (6:15 p.m.): OK. Here’s my assessment. I haven’t seen it yet but I HATE IT! You see, my role is “blogosphere correspondent,” but I don’t think I did well in that role. I do much better as “interviewee.” I’m on a learning curve, OK? This is only my third time on TV in, what, a month and a half? The first two times were smooth sailing (for me), but this time, I was…nervous. Next time I don’t want my notes-reading to be so conspicuous. Oh, well. But get this:

I’ll be on tomorrow morning at 9:45 a.m. to talk about Terri Schiavo.

I’m an MSNBC talking head! I’ll be on with liberal blogger Matt Yglesias. Political Teen says he has the video of today’s show, but I can’t find it. By the way, the segment was supposed to run longer. I was going to mention the controversial study in the Lancet Journal that claims 100,000 civilians were killed in Iraq. The study was discredited by liberal Slate Magazine and others.

Update III (7:25 p.m.): Here’s the video. I didn’t do as badly as I thought, but Ian’s video ends before the best part!
