I’ve been invited to Arizona to stand with the Minuteman Project volunteers on April 1. I’m thinking about going.
I don’t like Vicente Fox. He said, “We totally reject the idea of these migrant-hunting groups. We will use the law, international law and even U.S. law to make sure that these types of groups, which are a minority…will not have any opportunity to progress.” (Source) He says this about Americans trying to defend their country. That’s a lot of nerve.
Fox isn’t that different from anyone else. He’s just as selfish, just as self-serving. I definitely need to pray about my growing hostility toward him.

Godspeed. It will be cool at night warm in the day.
La Shawn,
Has anyone addressed Fox’s comments? or all they all playing the “let’s make friends with eveyone game”? I would think the media would be all over this and really all over the fact that President Bush has not addressed this (if they have I missed it). Of all things to get offended about, this is one of them that all American’s should take offense to.
Of course it is of great interest to Fox to ensure that illegals continue to stream over the border. They send a large portion of their income back to Mexico to be spent in the Mexican economy. It also alleviates a lot of responsibility that Fox will have for taking care of his own problems…he can foist them on us.
It is incredulous that other countries show such disrespect for our rule of law, yet will villify us for challenging rulers who torture, kill, and keep their citizens under an iron boot.
Renee - There’s a meeting between Fox, Bush and others later this week. I’ll post a link.
Fort Worth Star Telegram (www.dfw.com) had huge front page article detailing that Texas now leads the nation in numbers of illegals crossing the border. Looks like the Minuteman project needs to spread east.
Woooooooooooooooooo La Shawn!
Cool, let’s see what he says at the meeting. Fox needs a smackdown
Yes, PLEASE COME!!! We need you here in Arizona!
And, Chris Roberts…you are spot on! The social services here in Arizona are being completely crushed by illegal aliens. My daughter spends a lot of time in a children’s hospital in Phoenix and you should hear and see the stories…there are even “advocates” walking around the hospital telling illegal aliens how best to use (abuse) the healthcare system. I overheard one tell a family to pretend they don’t understand English! It’s crazy! Meanwhile, we pay increasing insurance premiums, while they pay nothing. The emergency room is being used as a health clinic, because Arizona law requires that anyone who walks into an ER must receive services, regardless of ability to pay….so, nurses and doctors are swamped with the diluge, and other patients w/ much more seriuos issues are not getting the treatment they need.
LaShawn, please come and add a voice!
“Are they working with Al Qaeda?”
Do you even need to ask with Malkin in the picture?
LB,
Go. For. It.
You should go…you’ll love the state and see it all for yourself. The San Diego Union-Tribune published an AP piece today that says that the number of illegals was about 10.3 million. I think that I had responded to someone the other day that I thought there were about 9 million. The piece also quoted some Republican Rep from Indiana, who heads a subcommittee on immigration and border security, as saying that the government hasn’t punished employers who hire them. Exactly right. He also said that sending the National Guard and 20-30,000 Border Patrol agents to the border was naive. Exactly and fatally wrong!!
I just don’t understand why Bush is so hamstrung on this! Frame the issue as what it is: a national security crisis. Don’t people realize that if Mexicans are pouring into the US unimpeded by US immigration laws, Muslim terrorists, who are 100 times more motivated to get into the country, are doing so? What is wrong with the man I voted for?
Chris,
Apparently Pres. Bush has even more interest than Fox in having Mexicans come here. And why are you so harsh in condemning other countries for not respecting our rule of law when we are the ones who don’t respect our rule of law. If the present administration spent its time searching out those who hire illegals and punished them with something more than a fine (like jail?) this issue would resolve itself rather quickly. WE are the ones who don’t respect our rule of law. Fox is irrelevant. Your anger is misplaced.
La Shawn…he’s beholden to business interests, many of whom are Republican. I can’t understand it either because national security should trump all but maybe like Esther, you’ve been raised up for such a time as this. The preamble to the Constitution (you know all this better than I) clearly says that…we the people…to provide for the common defence…do ordain and establish this Constitution…the President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several states…
LaShawn:
This just amazes me how no one knows where the illegal aliens are but yet they have the illegals listed at 11 million, how do they come up with that number if nobody has a clue where they are ?
If you do go out there to support the Minutemen, tell them we back here in ‘fly-over’ country support them to.
Since El Presidente brought up the hunting party, remind everyone to remember their B.R.A.S.S SYSTEM.
Mark
Stan-
I have equal contempt for businesses who engage in illegal practices. It’s the same contempt I have for fellow coaches (my profession in conjunction with teaching) who cheat to get star student-athletes in their school. There should be jail time in addition to fines. It is a problem that must be attacked on all sides. You and I have argued at length on this issue, and have come to the same conclusion: whatever is being done currently is not enough, and it will take a bomb in a very large city to change that fact.
LB-
Here’s the updated link to the story in the S/T:
http://www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/news/11200352.htm
It got bumped from the online front page because the arrested a high school student that shot and killed another student (bystander) at a party over the weekend.
Chris,
We’ve discussed, not argued and our final conclusion is the same, as you’ve rightly said.
La Shawn,
I admire the fact your considering joining the Minutemen & woman on April 1st. The weather should be moderate for the beginning of spring, still somewhat cool at night, and warm during the day. Load up on plenty of water. A camelback would be the best thing to have. Don’t skip on your water intake. Old rule of desert/field duty, drink water till you have to pee. If you don’t have to pee, your dehyridated. Comfortable hiking boots are a must. Jeans are good, BDU’s would be better. More pockets to hold things you need. Consider a photographer’s vest to hold items also.
Beef jerky, energy bars are good also. While temps should be moderate, be prepared for the extremes. full body raingear to heavy sweater. Baseball cap, boonie hat, sunglasses, and sunblock are a must also. A cellphone is of course a must,a Satphone would be better.
I have no idea if you have a permit to carry a concealed firearm for protection,or if you’ve ever considered it. If your going to be on patrol, with the minutemen,I strongly suggest you carry personal protection. Gun,folding knife, mace,ASP baton, please consider something. Arizona,is a open carry state. That means that anybody, even non-residents of Arizona are allowed to carry a pistol in plain view as long as its holstered. Your also allowed to have a firearm in plainview on your car seat also.
When you said stand with the minutemen, I’m assuming that you will be ON PATROL taking note of illegal’s trying to cross into the US. Not staying with the MSM under a tent. That’s why I was a bit detailed above regarding supplys. Please forgive me in advance if your already on top of this. It was not my intention to be presumptuous.

packing.org will give you info on CCW/firearm/personal protection laws for all fifty states.
camelbak’s are very fuctional, easier to carry then bottled water, and hold a lot of water.
As to being hateful toward V.Fox, he is a politician, after all. Maybe that helps? Though his objective statement is obscene, indeed, it’s also somewhat humorous.
Yes, Stan, discussed is a more appropriate word!!!
La Shawn,
If you go to AZ, visit the vegetable and cotton fields and fruit orchards and ask how many of the workers are illegals. Also, look at the corners in Tucson and/or Phoenix to see all the laborers lined up on the streets by the Home Depots. Then consider that for 5 months a year, the high temperatures average more than 100 degrees, sometimes reaching 115-120. Then ask yourself the possibility of Americans taking those jobs. Asians won’t because they’re busy working hard to own their own business and get their kids through the best universities. Indians won’t…they’ve paid their dues. Blacks won’t and shouldn’t because they did all that for more than 250 years and a large part of the Industrial Revolution was financed on their strong and often scarred backs with no benefits accruing to them. That leaves white folks like me. Based on the history of the United States, is there any reason to think that white people by the millions are going to take the place of the illegals in the fields, restaurants, hotels, landscaping jobs, etc. if the illegals are sent back? And would we want to entrust whites to produce our food supply? Would they even take the jobs if we paid them $6-7-8 per hour?
