Update: Pro-enforcement Congressman Tom Tancredo on Connected Coast to Coast: Why aren’t the borders being secured? Because cheap labor trumps security.
———————————————————————————————–
George Bush created a humongous government bureaucracy when he formed the Department of Homeland Security. I thought it was a mistake then, and I still do. After billions of taxpayer’s dollars and four years after an evil attack on our own soil, this is the “protection” we’ve been paying for:
An investigation by immigration officials led to the arrest yesterday of nine illegal immigrants performing janitorial work for a national defense subcontractor, Pacific Maintenance Co., in Tucson. It was the first (?) crackdown in the Tucson area since the Department of Homeland Security started targeting employees who are illegal immigrants at sensitive national security sites such as airports, nuclear power plants and oil refineries. Across the country, the crackdown has led to the arrest of at least 1,300 workers.
The nine arrested in Tucson were identified as Mexican nationals, and they worked for Pacific Maintenance Co., which cleans facilities at Honeywell, IBM and Texas Instruments. (Emphasis added)
What if these “Mexican nationals” turn out to be Muslim terrorists in disguise? It can easily happen, easily, if it hasn’t all ready! Either I’m moving closer to the center (toward the left) or further to the right because I think all the talk about “national security” is a bunch of…
Read these, and weep: Illegal Alien Gets Into Nuclear Plant and 27 immigrants arrested at PTI (This is an airport in Greensboro, N.C., where illegal aliens worked as airplane mechanics. They could have been Muslim terrorists planting bombs! All of this is going on while I’m getting felt up at the airport? Do you understand how slack our government really is? These men had to go through SECURITY CHECKS to get these jobs, a BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION. Before the feds would hire me, an American citizen, they wanted to know where I was and what I was doing for the last 10 years. They left no stone unturned. Are you trying to tell me that a similar or even a lesser background check didn’t reveal that these people weren’t even citizens or their presence was in violation of U.S. immigration law???)…

Believe it, La Shawn - In this country, being a U.S. Citizen is a decided disadvantage. One of these days, we’re going to have to take our country back. Seriously!

Reading the “Illegal Alien Gets Into Nuclear Power Plant” reminds me of the old Keystone Cops movies.
I do swear, can so many people in position of authority, beginning with our Nuclear Regulatory Commission authorities to Progress Energy owner of the Nuclear Plant authorities to Brock Specialty Services cleaning contractor authorities be so nonchalant and irresponsible in a Nuclear plant.
This “Progress Energy and a spokesman for the NRC said there was never any danger, even if the men were intent on doing harm” is astounding. Because the aliens were ’supervised’ and passed through ‘metal detectors’ makes them no potential danger. What about gathering intelligence (casing the joint) for passing information to Bush’s evil doers, you fools.
You have to read this article yourself to believe the dumb comments from officials and even dumber security systems we have in place that cannot identify a fake SSI number and with aliens walking around with LEGAL ID Drivers Licenses. UNBELIEVABLE!

Billions of dollars and we get 9 mexicans who could have been muslim terrorists. The horror.
Actus, why I allow you to comment on this blog, I don’t know. Most of your comments are unworthy of response. But just for fun, I’ll bite. The capture of these illegal aliens is only the tip of a very large iceberg, as you very well know. You know what? I think you should bother some other blogger today. My patience is at its lowest point. - Admin

But… but… La SHAWN… we wouldn’t want to offend Arab Muslims by singling them out! That’d be unfair! Never mind that something around 100% of the terrorists we’ve been fighting are Arab Muslims, that’s not important!
Political correctness will kill our country if we don’t kill it first. Any ideas?

Notice! I am not trying to be belligerent or sarcastic with the following.
Unfortunately, the inevitable will be a National ID Card. With a death sentence for anyone using another person’s identity would put a quick end to voter fraud, illegal immigration and of course, identity theft.
Add to the use payroll and taxation and we will be on our way to an honest society.
Every transaction recorded in detail and reported to the appropriate control organization not to mention your parents or spouse. Want to gamble? Fine! You will be permitted 15% of your gross income as long as the spousal approval has been verified. Your automobile will not operate with out it and a DUI/DWI 1st offence just 10% of your gross income. Motorists will be notified that a potential dangerous driver is approaching. Mac attack! Sorry sir/mam, you’ve exceeded your fat quotient for the allotted period. Please step on the nearest scale and insert your card to verify that your weight maintenance in within the government established tolerances for your age, height and frame.
I could go on for hours of typing my worthless thoughts, but I’ll stop. There is no end to the amount of control that can be imposed on people when they refused to obey simple boundaries, rules and laws. I don’t know how many years it will take for legislation and implementation, but eventually all people, money and transportation will be tracked and controlled by penalties of fees, fines, public exposure and physical punishment.
And a whole lot more.

Of course. We know there are millions of undocumented migrants in this country. My cousin is an undocumented immigrant. And it is horrible that we spend billions on wars all over the world and yet 9 people (10 with my cousin) can still be in this country and not be muslim terrorists.

Speaking of DHS…it’s long been a pet peeve of mine. In my “perfect world,” the Department Of Homeland Security would be abolished, with key parts of it being moved into the Department of DEFENSE — which, by title alone, you would think should be the sole agency charged with “homeland security.” We could then re-create the Department of War — truth in labeling, after all. Then we would have the Department of Defense (doing DHS job), and Department of War doing what it’s name implies: waging war when & if necessary. Does that make too much sense?

La Shawn I’m not sure how moving to the left/center helps on this one. The main complaint of John Kerry during the election and debates was that containers were not being inspected. Both of the major parties keep away from the illegal alien problem. This is one where the US citizens need to take the lead somehow.
Comment by Evon Bachaus — 03.23.05 @ 12:20 pm
Wow!…the containers…I’d almost forgot about them but that is another serious lapse in security. Kerry was right…only about 5% are being inspected. We are in serious trouble.
Just saw the President speak at his conference with Fox, etc. Unbelievable double-speak. Says that his plan will help control the borders and keep smugglers, drug runners and terrorists out. How for Heaven’s sake if he won’t put troops at the border?

I’m sure you’ve heard it already, but the IRS has a list of companies that submit names with non-matching SSN’s on a regular basis. They could impose several million dollars in fines, or bring the matter to DHS/INS, but they don’t, because “their job” is getting the money, and they’re afraid that if they start reporting people that the companies will just stop witholding any income. Right now, if the companies want to stay out of trouble, you know what they have to do? Ask the employee in question again, and submit a new name/SSN pair. And if that’s a lie, try again. And again.

Actus,
That makes you just as much a part of the problem. Even if it is “family” issue. Any aid you give to your cousin is a violation of the law!!!

Here’s the link to the Fox News story about the state of Yucatan, which puts out a handbook on how to legally get into the United States, but if that doesn’t work then get across illegally. The majority of the book is a guide on how to get across and utilize the US social services while sending all the money home to Mexico.
Of course, this is totally self serving for Mexico’s government elite to profilgate their elitism while doing nothing to solve the problems their country faces. Disgusting.

“so actus, by admission, are you helping harbor an illegal alien? ”
How do I harbor her?
“That makes you just as much a part of the problem.”
Certainly not the security problem. She’s not a muslim terrorist.

Bush hasn’t changed–he’s NEVER cared about illegal immigration. He comes from a border state where the farmers need illegal workers, he’s got plenty of friends and constituents who use illegal workers for their businesses, and he’s buddies with Vincente Fox.
This is what Bush said about illegal aliens: “Hell, if they’ll walk across Big Bend, we want ‘em.”
That quote comes from the book “The Right Nation.”
Comment by mj — 03.23.05 @ 9:54 pm
actus,
you possess direct knowledge of someone doing something illegal and are willing to sit aside and let it happen, just as everyone else who is content for illegal aliens to be here. you can call it snitching, ratting out, or whatever, but we will continue to have a problem until everyone agrees that this is important enough to stop. even though your cousin isn’t a muslim terrorist, she contributes to the overall problem. she is breaking the law, and so are you if you offer her any financial or material support.
Comment by Chris Roberts — 03.24.05 @ 6:44 pm
Actus is wrongheaded on many levels, but I won’t hold sticking up for a kinsman against him (although if I had her address, I’d call La Migra in a heartbeat).
We have a Republican Establishment that holds differing definitions of National Sovereignty, Cultural Integrity, and Secure Borders — That The Democrat Establishment does so we’ve known long ago. Even Eisenhower, a weak conservative at the time, implemented “Operation Wetback”. We can listen to Rep. Tancredo, or we can be in trouble. That Mr. Tancredo is ‘persona non grata’ at the White House speaks volumes.
Comment by Mark Slater — 03.24.05 @ 7:32 pm
most everyone is generally loathe to turn in a relative for breaking the law. what i am trying to illustrate is that many people carry the same attitude, which is that as long as “my relative/friend is a good person, doesn’t commit crimes, works hard, and pays the bills then there is no problem with them being here illegally.” that is what contributes to the problem. moral relativism corrupts the law, and our immigration policy has plenty of moral relativism.
Comment by Chris Roberts — 03.25.05 @ 12:23 pm
Chris,
Its not a matter of moral relativism…its a matter of pure, cold, hard economics that’s been the history of our country. When my Germans from Russia ancestors came here, they worked so hard in the cotton fields of OK and the sugar beet fields of NE and CO. But they moved on and didn’t stay there because the work was too demanding and not economically rewarding. Mine moved to Lincoln, NE. One got a job as a janitor and the other worked for the Burlington. This is the course of history. You’ll never get them or their grandkids or great-grandkids to go back and do that work. The U.S. got away with 250 years of slave labor in order to keep agricultural costs down. There followed share-cropping, etc. The Okies left OK for CA during the depression in a desperate attempt to find work in our fields. For a time, CA authorities stopped them at the border and turned them back because there were so many of them and not enough work. They were viewed as inferiors who would fill my state with tons of unemployed, ignorant, diseased, backward people and their undesirable children. But I will guarantee you that the Okies that got here don’t work the fields anymore and neither do their descendants. They may own some of the farms in our Great Valley, but they don’t do the work in the fields. CA produces half of the fruit and vegetables consumed in the U.S. and exports huge amounts around the world. The permanent peasantry of Mexican workers, legal and illegal, does all this work.
Our textile industry is gone because U.S. garment mfgs and retailers want to pay people in Cambodia, where I do work, 15 cents an hour and the Chinese perhaps even less. I’m convinced that some of them would go back to slave labor if they could get away with it. I know that some of the Chinese and Korean contractors would. In fact, considering that the slave masters had to take care of the slave children and old folks who couldn’t work any more, 15 cents an hour might even be cheaper than our former slave system. Capitalism ALWAYS seeks the lowest cost of labor and the highest profit. We are seeing it work in its purest sense.
