How about a No-Filibuster-On-Appointments rule? 'Twould benefit (or hurt) both sides equally in the long run whereas discontinuing it altogether deprives the minority side of a powerful, but rarely used, weapon.

Sorry I missed your MSNBC appearance. I think it's a mistake for the Senate to change the filibuster rules for this case. Republicans will need to use it when they are in the minority, and you must be in the majority to set the rules. Since you asked for shameless blog promotion, click the link to see my blog post on this.

Ms. Barber:

I managed to catch your segment on MSNBC and greatly enjoyed it...was concerned it'd been cut, or run early, since it didn't start at the scheduled time. Great job, and don't be so hard on yourself. There's a saying..."The camera doesn't blink!" It's disconcerting to look directly into that glass lens and be completely at ease. We're hardwired to respond to nonverbal feedback, and you don't get it flying solo in front of the camera. Those who haven't tried should do so...it's a hairy experience the first couple of times. I, noticed you reading from the screen, but I see that all the time from the pros on cable news; I suggest that rather than not reading at all, you just glance at the screen. Forcing yourself to stare straight at the lens throughout the segment will feel unnatural and you'll look uncomfortable. The screen gives you an acceptable reason to break eye contact with the lens (which helps you), without losing the collegial, conversational structure you're seeking.

Looking forward to the next one...again, a very good job.

since the original meaning of filibuster was to invade a foreign country with a private army, I propose we change the name to "DogintheMangering" to more accurately describe it. Anyway, Jimmy Stewart was probably Gay like all Boy's Club folk.

For any newbies out there to the filibuster debate, I have a primer on the nuclear option on my site. It might help put the clear back into nuclear!

Commercial Against Removing the Filibuster (VIDEO)
This is a good commercial, if you haven't seen it - watch it now.

I don't think it is a smart move that the Republicans want to remove it. Face it, the right will probably be in power of the House and Senate for atleast the next 10 years. But when...
