This is why I could never be a politician. What’s wrong with closing the border to illegal aliens but opening it to legal immigrants? Is it me? Maybe I need a vacation.

He has to watch his words because of all the illegal immigrants in his state and their descendents.
If politicians didn’t mince their words, didn’t beat around the bush, and were not interested in power trips, then we would be electing leaders for who they actually are.

I could never be a politician. And I don’t mean that as a put down. It’s just that you have to watch every little word and gesture to ensure that they cannot be misconstrued or ’sound-bited’(?). Plus, you absolutely have to be able to put aside principles, at times, inorder to accomplish anything in the legislature. Compromise is a must.
(I am not great at living up to my own principles, but at least it is my choice when I don’t)

Using either phraseology Arnold and the Minutemen are right and my liberal , friend of the ACLU President is wrong! Bush lied when he called ‘em “vigilantes” a month ago. No wonder he poll #’s are down. I Cal all the conservatives are (and have been for several weeks) mad at Bush for joining up with the ACLU to attack real American patriots – who BTW are winning the War on Terror for all Americans. Most conservatives still back Arnold.

IMO, the libs should have kept their mouths shut and just let Aaarnold say what he said, because by using the word ‘Secure’ as opposed ‘Close’ to a
German to close is to merely close the door, window etc, Secure is to make safe, lock ‘entrance forbidden.
So hopefully he does mean to ‘To make the Border fast’ That would really put a bee in their collective bonnets.
