So much is happening in the blogosphere, I can’t keep up. New blogs are created every day and veteran bloggers are writing about interesting topics. I have time to keep up with only a few Christian and political blogs, and that’s not even the tip of the iceberg.
This is a group of new blogs I’ve discovered via e-mail, my referrers log or links left in the comment section: Matthew Sheffield (whom I met at a DC blogger meet-up) of Ratherbiased.com has started a personal blog, Virtual Scratchpad; others are Capitalism’s Truths, Calebs Giants, Texas Republicans Against Bush, Lexical Light, Sepia’s Sanctuary, The Night Writer, Euphoric Reality, .357 Mangum, Grab the Glory (Robert asked me to tell you he’s a “fallen-away” blogger) and Homeschool Mom Tips.
Have I missed anybody? If you’re a new blogger, trackback to this post and let us know who you are.
Here’s something else new (to me), BloggersMarket.com. Interesting concept. Also visit this self-published writer at thathero.com. If you have some time to spare, check out the Carnival of the Vanities, Carnival of Education and Christian Carnival.
Jimmie Bise (whom I met at a DC bloggers meet-up) has a post I can relate to. He blogs about a phenomenon I’ve also noticed but haven’t blogged about lately.
Update: How could I have forgotten Miss O’Hara?
Update II: BLOGNASHVILLE! There’s still time (and space) to sign up.
More new bloggers: The View From My Chair, Point Five, Sarah’s Scribblings, Marathon Pundit, A Clear Voice…
And more: Three Bad Fingers, The Unalienable Right, LightFrog Blog, Random Ruminations…
Update III: This BlogNashville conference is getting interesting. Each session leader will “host” dinner at a local restaurant, and Bob Cox is asking folks to sign up with the restaurant and leader of your choice. It looks like my crew and I will dine at the Midtown Cafe.
And even more bloggers: reelcobra, Quotidian Grace , The Marshian Chronicles, Redeem America, Don Singleton…
This one sounds different: A Republic, Madam, If You Can Keep It

Quick Link
La Shawn has posted links to quite a few new bloggers, I’ve taken a look at them and they all like pretty good. Go over and check it out if you want some fresh reads.

Vice a TB I’ll leave a link here. Pickled Pundit is the third project of mine. It started life as a design exercise and gained a life of it’s own.
Enjoy, it’s irreverent, satirical and about everyone’s favorite drug, alcohol.
BTW, if anyone notes a “Pundit” that I have missed in my blogroll leave a comment with the URL.

Thanks for the link. Welcome to everyone!
Comment by Matthew Sheffield — 04.28.05 @ 10:29 am
Well, LaShawn, if you don’t mind, I’ll introduce myself too! I’m sharp, conservative, Christian, and sweeter than a kitten, with a sassy satirical bent.
I cover everything from God, current events, and marketing & business to culture, horse racing (!) and classic cars (which I drool over very frequently). The most frequent comment I get is that I’m ‘vivacious.’
My readers enjoy joining the fray, too, and it’s quite fun. Please stop in and say hello!

La Shawn, what are you hoping to hear from President Bush tonight?
Comment by J. Mark English — 04.28.05 @ 11:09 am
The president’s speaking tonight? I’m out of the loop!
I’d LOVE to hear him say something positive about the Minuteman Project volunteers in Arizona and assure us that securing the borders is his TOP priority.

Point Five
Thanks for the forum for us newbies, LaShawn. Hey, we’ve even figured out how to do trackbacks!
Our blog, Point Five, has been around for three months, and features daily political satire, ranting and raving, and the twice weekly PG-13 commentary …

My blog dates back to January, LaShawn. Lately, I’ve been chronicling the free speech battle of Professor Thomas Klocek, who’s been suspended by DePaul University. Klocek got involved in a discussion with some Palestinian students there, and they didn’t like what he had to say.

Honestly, I have a long list of blogs on my Bloglines feed, but I find myself clicking on Miss O’Hara even when I don’t click on any one else! She’s charming, funny and intelligent, with just the right touch of smart-alecky.
I once said La Shawn Barber’s blog is what I want my blog to be when it grows up. But I’ve since realized that politics is a rather small facet of my blog, so I’ve shifted my ambitions; like Miss O, I cover a little of everything. And I try to keep it as informative and entertaining as possible!

I’ve been blogging for about two months.

Nice of you to link to new bloggers.

LaShawn,
I am a relativily new blogger (2 months). My blog is Random Ruminations. I discuss mostly Christian issues (i.e the Word of God, prayer, etc.) and some politics.
Thanks for welcoming new bloggers!

Hope this ends up helping both of us!

Another newbie here. I’m a former attorney, then a stay-at-home and volunteer and now director of christian education in a church. The theme of the blog is seeking grace in everyday life and subjects are eclectic. Today’s post includes email reflections from an American helping with reconstruction in Afghanistan. Thanks for your generous welcome, I read you regularly!
Comment by Quotidian Grace — 04.28.05 @ 5:03 pm
I’m a novice but not a newbie: I’m a college student at Illinois, and my blog “A Republic, Madam, If You Can Keep It” . I’m never one to blow my own horn, however (well, I’m also a hornist too, but, you know, figure of speech.)
Comment by Steven Donohue — 04.28.05 @ 5:40 pm
My family and I just started up a new blog named Redeem America. We’ll be covering many different topics, but the general theme will be about restoring America to its Biblical and Constitutional roots. We don’t have time to do daily updates, but I have a lengthy article about the role of the judiciary in modern-day America and ancient Israel.
I also have a link to you, La Shawn!!

I’ve been following the blogosphere silently for years and finally started my own blog (you’ll say OH NO NOT ANOTHER BLOG). I’m a convert from agnostic liberalism to Catholicism. Maybe you’d like to check out my wee lil nascent blog by clicking my name while I figure out trackbacks and what not!

You should enjoy Midtown Cafe by the way. It’s a nice little restaurant near the Vanderbilt area.
Also, don’t forget about the official BlogNashville party on Friday night.

I did an Online Homeschool convention. We had almost 50 bloggers share on many different aspects of home education. I even had a homeschool leader from Malaysia let us know about what it is like for a Christian to homeschool there. I hosted it on my blog posted April 21 and it is still going strong. You can read them all at

How do you do a track back?
Comment by Karen of Scottsdale — 04.29.05 @ 3:53 pm
Hi Karen - in order to do a trackback, your software has to provide the option. My understanding is that some don’t yet. I tried to trackback to a Blogger post once and it didn’t work. But a lot of the others do.
If you use MT, here’s how:
First, go to LaShawn’s post and hit the “permalink” and scroll down. You are looking for something that says “trackback url.” It’s the computer’s “address” for LaShawn’s post. This is it for this post:
http://lashawnbarber.com/archives/2005/04/28/new-2/
Copy it. Then go back to your site and compose your post. There is a place at the bottom right labeled “URL’s to Ping” — paste LaShawn’s trackback URL there. Then, (hopefully!) when you publish, the software automatically takes an excerpt of what you’ve written and posts it here, linking everyone up.
There is a shorter “quickpost” way to do this in MT, but if you are using different software, it will probably be something very similar to what I’ve just described.
Good luck, and come over and visit me at “reasoned audacity!”

I’m not necessarily a new blogger - I started in August 2004 - but I can’t seem to get the traffic and comments that others do, so I still consider myself new!
I’m a microbiologist and I’m going to medical school in the fall, and I talk about a lot of pop culture stuff, some politics, some Christianity/apologetics/ethics stuff, FamilEEEEEEEE! Guy, my wee lil’ critters, and clogging.
Thanks for inviting comments from new(ish) bloggers, and thanks for the great posts! (I love your firm stand for Christ as well!) If you have time to swing by my blog, that would be really great. And if you have time to tell me something that is horrendous and should be changed (about my blog, I mean - otherwise you’d have to say Scott Savol’s continued presence on American Idol) then that would be even better.
Thanks again.
