36,000 Troops

in Illegal Aliens

From the Washington Times:

The deployment of 36,000 National Guard troops or state militia on the U.S.-Mexico border would stop the illegal flow of foreigners into America, says a congressional report that credits the Minuteman Project with proving that additional manpower could “dramatically reduce if not virtually eliminate” illegal immigration.

I am pleased to hear this bit of news. Vindication for the Minuteman Project is a good start, but the overrun of illegal aliens is still front and center. Read the rest of the story, and you’ll understand why this problem has grown to unmanageable proportions. It’s alarming.

But it gets worse. National security breaches are only part of the story. Another part is the introduction of diseases like leprosy (leprosy?). Diseases that had been eradicated or controlled in the United States have emerged once again. Illegal aliens not only bring these diseases into the country, they drain our healthcare system as they seek treatment. And we have to pay for it.

Illegal immigration is turning American into a third world country with the kind of diseases found in hovels where people live as though progress passed them by and sanitation problems kill. It’s freakish. Aliens are overcrowding hospitals, prisons and schools and infesting suburban and rural areas with filthy gangs. It’s despicable.

I confess that I’m somewhat of a conspiracy theorist, and I believe that if the United States government really wanted to stop the flow of illegals, it could. The question is whywon’t the government put a stop to something that spreads loathsome diseases and crime?

Will the government deploy those 36,000 troops?

Update: What can the average American do? We can report illegal aliens. They probably won’t be deported, but at least we can do something. I don’t see anything on the Department of Homeland “Security” web site about how to report people in the country illegally. Just a bunch of self-serving links to news stories and other equally bloated agenices.

As usual, the private sector is the better option. It’s a shame to pay for something that should be free.

Update II: One of my liberal detractors wrote a post critical of this one. The blogger implied that I don’t understand the Bible, quoting this passage in Luke 5:

And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him. And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. (12-15)

Apparently, I’m just guessing here, this is supposed to show that I’m “un-Christian” in my criticism of lepers and my desire that they be prevented from jumping the border. In violation of U.S. immigration law, but what does that matter? I digress. Here’s the comment I left on the blog:

Good grief. Rude and crude commenters. I’ll tread lightly. I guess you quoted Scripture to insinuate that I, as a Christian, shouldn’t say anything negative about the diseased and that the US should continue to allow the influx of illegal aliens. I can’t be sure what you’re getting at since you offered no exegetical comment on the passage. But that’s probably what you meant.

This is the risk that Christians run when they’re open about their faith. A more balanced comment on your part would be to acknowledge that Jesus did much more than heal the man’s disease: he healed his “sin sickness,” an illness much more lethal than his leprosy. While Christ healed the physical deformities, he also saved the man and fulfilled a prophecy, which I’d encourage you to go back and read in the OT.

There’s also the issue of what Christ says about lawbreaking. Here’s a hint: he doesn’t approve of it. A more balanced comment would’ve acknowledged that illegal aliens aren’t being very “Christian” by violating the laws of the US, whether or not you think they’re just. For a hint on exactly what God appointed governments for, scan through the Book of Romans.

It’s funny how some people have no sympathy for those law abiding citizens being financially and physically affected by the scrouge of illegal immigration, while criticizing those who do speak out in defense. Being a Christian isn’t easy though. We’re constantly being watched and scrutinized by people who quote the Bible out of context. Such is life.

One final thought. Nothing I wrote in the post is unbiblical or un-Christian. Copying and pasting a passage from the Bible with the word “leprosy” in it does little more than soothe the godless and ease their guilt. The Bible also contains the words “fornicator,” “liar,” “greed,” “vengence,” “God’s wrath,” “sinner,” “[doctrine of] eternal damnation,” a command to “be ye holy, as I am holy,” just to name a few. Read the whole book. It’s very…educational.

Missed by people unfamilar with the Bible are the profound spiritual lessons Christ taught and the wrath to come. I’ve blogged several times about this, and it frustrates me to no end. I recommend you read Matthew Henry’s commentary on the passage. He said it much better than I can right now.
