Last week Jennifer Wilbanks was indicted on one felony count of making false statements to the police and one misdemeanor count of making a false report about being kidnapped. She’s agreed to pay the city of Duluth $13,250, a portion of what it actually cost:

In accepting the agreement, the city will have to write off about $30,000 in other costs searching for the bride-to-be, who disappeared April 26, four days before her planned wedding.

“We’re very appreciative they were willing to give us the $13,000. We would have certainly welcomed the entire amount that covered all of our employees but we are ready to get this behind us,” [Mayor Shirley] Lasseter said. (Source)

  1. I could say some really unsavory and crude things about this woman, but I’ll hold my tongue.

  6. What, no “hate crimes” enhancer added to her charges? There are groups of people who may have felt they were “victims” of her made up story.
(Sorry for the sarcasm, La Shawn.) ;-)

  8. La Shawn,

You can rest assured that normal conversational decorum would prevent me ever directing sarcasm toward you. This is bolstered by the fact that I agree with you nearly all of the time :-)

Of course, there’s that secret crush I have on you (along with a goodly number of your regular male readers I’m sure) that would surely give me pause if I ever so much as thought of doing so.
