Business Site

The business site is coming along, but I still have work to do. I welcome comments and suggestions, so check it out.

Substantive blogging will resume shortly.

Update (1:37 p.m.): One person has reported that the sidebar on the business blog appears at the bottom of the page in Internet Explorer, but in my IE browser and Firefox, everything is where it should be. Other reports?

Update II (4:02 p.m.): Don’t adjust your computers. Both sites have been down for an hour-and-a-half. That’s the second time in a week my hosting service was interrupted.

Not happy. :?

Great name. Nice header. Sounds like it will be a useful resource.

The look is very pleasing to the eyes. The colors are mainly neutral with just enough color. I like the layout.

I like it alot LaShawn. I think it is visually appealing, and I think you are on the cutting edge of this particular market. Putting my business banker hat back on for a minute, I would concentrate on core marketing strategies for high value customers, IE medium to large businesses and the corporate world (which I think is going to be a high growth market for your type of service through the public relations side). These businesses can afford dedicated staff or already have staffing infrastructure in place to add a blog component.

Your blogging expertise is your core business component as you are starting with minimal competition in the field, and this field is cutting edge and growing at a rapid pace. The other components of your business, the proofreading and typing, already have a developed market and a high level of competition but I think you can capture a decent portion of this market through cross selling off of your blogging consulting. (Differientiation is the key).

I think you could make a killing being the first to market with your kind of consulting and services. Plus you bring name recognition and credibility immediately to the table.

Do you plan on doing any direct sales?

Very nice! It is an exciting time indeed.

I concur with Renee.

I also like the idea of rolling a few services into one business. It’s almost as if somebody who wanted a blog could just dictate their thoughts and ideas and your services could provide them their blog completely typed up and edited. This may or may not have been the plan but now anyone of any importance could be speaking to today’s issues on a blog without much effort with the service you provide.

What access does the cpanel link provide you?

The Language Artist is such a cool name!
Congrats, La Shawn, and may success pile upon you. :)

In other words….branding branding branding.

I think that’s how I see you. You are sort of a stylist, who uses communication to design and promote a company’s brand.

And that’s big business these days. Example: sloverandco.com

…..your business could turn into something, very much, like what they do.

I was attracted to your blog because of the clear, straight forward style. I was looking for someone who could communicate Conservative information and viewpoint without sarcasm, and without being cynical. I felt that Ann Coulter was getting too catty, and Malkin a bit too abrupt. And, that’s where you came in.

Some of the Conservative blogs had become to jaded, sarcastic, and weary. But, you blog seemed somehow fresher, more clear.

A fresh, clear approach to communication. That’s how I see you.

Congratulations. It looks very professional.

La Shawn 06.13.05 at 1:33 pm

Thanks, everybody!

Dell – No plans yet to do direct sales.

Baklava – The CPanel takes to me the admin area of both web sites. For instance, it’s where I go to upload new themes and plugins, ban IP addresses, create new e-mail accounts, access the database, generate site backups, manage files, etc.

Excellent!

Good for you LaShawn, I am certain you will do very well.

SCSIwuzzy 06.13.05 at 4:44 pm

Agreed. It looks very tight, very professional. Hopefully, you’re service issues will get resolved quickly.

Nice, La Shawn, very nice and loaded with potential.

Hi LaShawn,
Looked at your business site last evening. Thought about it all day.
I have some thoughts for you.

Site is great, no problems and you are going to be well positioned for Search Engine happiness.

It’s about your offering. I think your ability to create blogs, distill information and present logical commentary is your strength for the market. You have it listed last.

Make it your top offering:
Blog Creation / Consulting / Writing

Show why small businesses need a well designed, cohesive and strategic Blog. List the reasons, and then become the solution.

Create a “package” for small businesses, heck, create two. A ‘Premium’ and a ‘Deluxe’. Give them an introductory price. Offer to review their online presence and give them a concise, one page, review and suggestions for a Blog. Make the offer “While time permits” – then take it down in two weeks, even if you aren’t that busy… just let people know you are swamped.

Get the offer up to the front. Offer the typing and editing services under “Additional Services” ‘for our clients’.

Your talents, and they are many, are suited for higher paying consulting / design jobs. Intellectual property of LaShawn don’t come cheap, baby.

What you need to do is ‘position’ (I hate that word these days, but it is what it is) your self as the expert on Blog creation, editorial writing, schedule, Blog specialties (blogads / google ads) that so many small business folks don’t have a clue about.

That is my .34 worth (yeah, it used to be a nickel but I got a suit now).

Cheers and love.
