Update III (6/15): How could I have forgotten about my kindred spirit, Jerry McClellan? He’s a faithful reader and commenter from my old Blog*Spot days.
The Blogdom of God grows!
————————————————————————————————————————-
Other frequent commenters with blogs: SCSIwuzzy, PatsRick, DarkStar (I’ll let him reveal his real name), Republican Jen, Chris Roberts, Renee, Mark La Roi, Stephen Johnson, Mike M. (who went on a profanity-laced rant yesterday), M.J. Klein, my young friend Ian, docjim, and yes, even Actus…
Also, the Therapist…
Have I missed other frequent commenters with blogs?
Addendum: Can’t exclude frequent trackbackers: Don Singleton, Broken Messenger, WILLisms, California Conservative, Conservative Outpost, Michael King, Danny Carlton, Lorie Byrd…
Update: Several commenters have blogs but won’t give us the URL.
“I keep telling myself I’ll launch, but compared to La Shawn and some of my other faves, why bother,” writes one.
“I started a blog, realized I was just full of hot air, and sorta forgot about it,” writes another.
Come on guys, give out the URLs and blog! When I first started, I had the advantage of being a non-blog reader. My expectations were low. I wanted to start an online journal as a place to rant between the bi-weekly op-eds I used to write and send to newspapers, even if I were the only one reading it.
I didn’t know what hits were, didn’t know who the popular bloggers were, and I certainly wasn’t worried about my own hot air. A blog is the place for your hot air, your own corner of the blogosphere. And if you’re a consistent poster and decent writer, readers will come.
A lot of readers ask how/why I started blogging, how I built a readership, etc. I’m thinking of writing an e-book and selling it on the site. There’s a market for it, I know a little about it, I’m self-employed, and I need the cash!
Update II (8:26 p.m.): A couple of weeks ago I did a podcast interview with Australian blogger “Tom Paine,” and I fell in love with his accent. If you have nothing better to do tonight, listen to Part I and Part II of my rambling, meandering narrative (I was distracted…) and other interviewees. Naturally, I don’t like the way I sound, but you know how self-critical I am. Remember the MSNBC segments I hated? Yuck.
There’s a liberal on the podcast who calls conservatives “greedy.” Entertaining.
I’m signing off line. If you post a comment and don’t see it, it’s probably caught in the moderation queue because you’re a first-time commenter or regular commenter who used a spam word. Unless you’re a troll, I’ll approve the comment in the morning.

You know I will always support you LaShawn. Even when I am a Congressman in 2012. Thanks for the plug on the new blog.
Contrarian, sometimes. But not on issues of abortion, privacy rights, free market capitalism, gun control, stupid liberal policies, smaller federal government, evangelicalism, faith based initiatives, homeschooling and school vouchers, free speech, and judicial activism.
Mostly on the issues of race, racism, stupid republican policies, and irrational arguments.
Dell wrote, “Mostly on the issues of race, racism, stupid republican policies, and irrational arguments.”
who and what? Name the names and issues and we’ll stamp it out together…..
Heh. Now I’ll be pressured to keep up a pace or regular posting again…
BTW, I have a blog.
I have 2 posts on it.
I spend so much time reading other blogs and posting there. I won’t get popular because of you La Shawn.
…….
I’m with you Bak,
I spend to much time here at La Shawn’s (and a few other blogs) that I never have time to write anything
If we pool our time and energy, great things can happen ! Well… you might have to pool with 10 more people to get the same energy as La Shawn.
I started a blog, realized I was just full of hot air, and sorta forgot about it.
You mean I can’t spend all day reading LaShawn and Michelle and all the other great bloggers? I have to write my own stuff too?
Hmmmm – maybe that explains the lack of hits on my blog!
I owe you another one LaShawn!
Seriously – keep up the great work and God bless!
I try to visit as many of you all’s blogs as possible. Now that I see more, I will stop by. I wanted to post on Darkstars blog, but I had to register, and I just couldn’t get past the cost / benefits of taking the time
.
I am about to check out SCSI’s and a couple of other ones.
This is yet another example of how you show appreciation for your readers, and how you keep your ego in check–unlike other successful writers/commentators.
I am about to check out SCSI’s and a couple of other ones.
Great… now I’ll have to carry through on my promises to rebuild and post more. LOL
Well I guess I am still a newbie here but I like people that like good debate so be on the look out. Respect due for those with conviction that stick up for their beliefs.

I usually comment only when I feel I have something important to add (and since La Shawn covers all the bases so well, that usually isn’t often!).
Nevertheless, this site is a daily read for me. Keep up the great work, La Shawn, and best of luck with the new site.
I’ve got a website/blog but I’ve been keeping it under a bushel since 1998. I keep telling myself I’ll launch, but compared to La Shawn and some of my other faves, why bother
LaShawn,
I just wanted to make note that every time I come by this site you’re praising your readers. You are probably the most reader friendly, non-offensive, conserva-blogger I have seen in the sphere.
Kudos to you!
Go for it La Shawn. I just took Communications III and the professor admitted she was not up on blogs and how useful they can be (let alone how they can help a student better their writing skills… let’s leave typing skills out for time being
). I used the blog and how it is shaping how we interact with current events as my research paper and I was surprised how many people are searching for information on the infamous blog.
La Shawn! Thanks for the plug AND the mention of my going off yesterday.
You’re the best. Love ya!
Mike M.
I don’t comment that much, but I read you every day and enjoy your insights. Keep up the good work you do!
Mark heart La Shawn! Thanks Mami!
Just this afternoon I was telling a co-worker that my introduction to blogging came by seeing Michelle Malkin on C-span one morning a long time ago. I listened for a minute and thought “Wait! What’s this cute woman doing talking all this political stuff that I SO agree with?”
She mentioned her site, I visited, (which I now do daily) through her direct plug I visited you La Shawn and thought, “Hey, what’s this pretty Black woman doing talking all this conservative stuff I SO agree with? Plus she’s a Christian?!”, and since day one became a daily visitor.
Because of the two of you and a little influence by Ambra, Messy Christian (check La Shawn’s blogroll folks) and the mighty Drudge, now I blog!
Though I started my first site because I think every radio station should have one, and that station’s personalities should each have one to help better connect with listeners.
There’s a bad t-storm starting so I’m out!
I wasn’t a blog reader when I started blogging, either. In fact, I wasn’t even a “blogger.” I guess I was, but I didn’t think of myself that way. I just set out to have a place to post my thoughts and writings. Turns out, without even trying, I became a blogger.
Went to check out some of the blogs. Dark Star’s blog is good and so is Mike M’s “Down With Absolutes” – will definitely check them on the regular basis. Some of my favorite blogs are: Cobb, Cynthia’s Interest, Listen to Leon and Black Ambition. I like your blog as well LaShawn… even if I disagree with you a majority of the time.
Curious, James. What do you like about LBC, even though you don’t agree? Most of the time. Serious question.
LB: And my traffic has already begun to spike. But only two trolly comments to kill, which I take as a blessing.
Renee: I’d be interested in reading your paper.
Jeremy: Agreed. That, and the overall class factor, IMO, is pretty high.
La Shawn, Thanks for the link.
I’ve enjoyed your thoughts ever since I first found you over at opeds.com. I’m afraid some won’t be able to view my blog because of AOL, but I enjoy keeping my thoughts in order there. We have quite a coalition of conservative bloggers at AOL. Maybe one day I’ll kick the habit.
SCSI,
I turned it in last week. I might get over my shyness and let everyone see it before I make recommeded changes
I am waiting for my grade
Renee,
As a former English teacher in training (moved to IT after student teaching), I’d be glad to red ink your paper
Reading your blog requires the following:
Grab a bib and a napkin and pull up a chair and enjoy the feast!!!!! I learn sooooo much on this site – thanks LaShawn!! God Bless You.
Having a blog is such a big responsibility and commitment. I couldn’t do it.
The biggest obstacles for me would be maintenance, content, and enthusiasm. I could see myself running out of ideas, and then what? And then, there’d be the problem of dealing with rude folks, who say things I don’t like. I’m afraid I wouldn’t be half as polite, or patient, as La Shawn.
Someone comes into my house and starts talkin trash……they would be quickly eliminated, never to be heard from again….. I wouldn’t even bother to give warnings. Too much trouble. I’d just zap ‘em.
“Have I missed other frequent commenters with blogs?”
Yeah, me! (http://jmcclellan.blogspot.com) Although I admit, I do not comment frequently, yet I do read your site each and every day, several times a day even, no joke! Does that count?
Did I mention that I read your blog EVERY DAY?
La Shawn,
Thank you for the kind words and mention. It truly is an honor, particularly given that in my first trackback to you, I absent mindly refered to you as a “him.”
Thank you for your sincerity and hard work. We may not always agree, but we agree on that which is most important – ministry through demonstration and passionately serving our Dad as He directs.
Your Brother in Christ,
Brad
Probably not one of your more frequent commenters, La Shawn, but I read your blog faithfully and admire you greatly. You’ve certainly set the standard for conservative Christian bloggers–well, actually for bloggers in general.
I’m not shy about providing my URL–feel free to click on it! My blog is more culture-related than political, but I reserve the right to talk about whatever the heck I want to!
La Shawn,
I would love to have the time to put up a blog of my own. My life at this time just won’t let me fit it in. My regular job plus my part-time job are tremendous time consumers (I just can’t seem to get the knack for solving complicated crimes in 45 minutes plus commercials). Now couple that with the fact that I’ve now enrolled in a graduate degree program beginning in the fall and soon I will REALLY be pressed for finding any free time. What little time I have to peruse those blogs I semi-regularly visit (all other blogs being secondary to LBC) and comment on, would have to be sacrificed along with some other activity in order to have the time to properly run a blog.
I guess I’ll just have to settle for putting out the occasional brilliant comment at LBC to satisfy what would be my “blogging jones” for now. Besides, we agree so frequently (well, except for that ONE time) that people would think you were writing my posts anyway
Nah, I can tell you apart Montie. You type with an Okie drawl.
You know, my relatives in California would just love to see that SCSIwuzzy, they have kidded my side of the family for years about our Okie accent!
LaShawn,
I am a fan of serious discussions. There are times when you rant but often you frame the issue in a way that leads to an intellectual conversation. Even if I disagree with your premise, at least there is the opportunity for discussion.
What is missing in the country is the means for people to disagree without being lynched for those beliefs. Now, I know you catch grief for some of the things you say – and there are times when you deserve it(the generalization you made of Muslims is a good example), but I don’t dislike you because you are a conservative. I am sure there are some that do – as I am sure there are conservatives who can’t stand me because I am a liberal. I suspect that they think that I am a godless man and an undercover socialist… who knows.
However, I have relationship with God and I probably pray and attend church as much as any conservative that posts on your site. I just happend to have a different political philosophy.
I will admit that for a time I associated conservative with being evil – I still think Bush and Jerry Farwell are evil men, but I’ve come down off that a lot. And I know some conservatives folks who thought I was some anti-American atheist that endorsed a welfare state. There is hate on both sides – I’ve felt it and I’ve presented it at times.
Now, I’ve never seen a conservative argue a point that made me change my position – mainly because they all say the same thing the same way. But despite all that, I like coming here to rant and voice my opinion as well as read other people’s opinions on the issues you present.
So, big ups to you – and this from a black man that is a liberal for life
Thanks for the plug. I’ll gladly be on troll alert.
Too late. Didn’t have comment moderation enabled on my site.
I can’t imagine what you deal with every day.
God Bless You!!!
Chris,
Not fast enough! I got in, and I blog rolled you…
Thanks!
Lashawn,
Thanks for the ’shout out’. I want you to know that I am still here in spirit, though work is putting me through my paces, and that makes me a “Happy Capitalist!”
Blogging WILL resume!(inna minute)
