Dinosaurs don't do trackbacks, La Shawn. ;-) But I did link the anti-lynching post. It was a good read and altho I found it a few days late, it was my pleasure to share it with my few readers.

Well, my trackbacks don't seem to be working, LaShawn. I wouldn't mind a little linkage over to Point Five -- http://pointfivestep.blogspot.com/

Last week, U.S. Rep. David Obey (D-Wisc.) inserted an amendment to the spending bill criticizing "coercive and abusive religious proselytizing" at the Academy and requiring the Air Force to submit a plan to Congress to correct the problems.

From: http://www.pandagon.net/archives/2005/06/gettin_racial_u.html

"I mean [Republicans] assume blacks don't vote their interests but only vote for people that look like them [and so appoint tokens, e.g., Congressman J.C. Watts]. Is there anything more patronizing?"

Yes. A white liberal telling me what my interests are. Or worse, assuming what my interests are simply because of what I look like to him or her. Or worse, a white liberal attempting to pander to me or advocate on my behalf because he or she identifies with 'my interests'. Or worse, a black liberal who is presumed to represent the interests of all black people simply because white liberals agree with him or her. Or worse, a white liberal who points to a black liberal and says, "But Mr. Black Liberal says XYZ. Why don't you agree?" Or worse, a white liberal who thinks that white liberals who act in the manner I have described above are not racist. Or worse, a white liberal who refuses to accept my analysis by questioning the authenticity of my "blackness" -- whatever that means -- or suggesting that every other black person in the country disagrees with me. Even worse than that, white liberals who ask me to "freestyle, dog" at liberal rallies, or who ask me at upscale parties "where the weed at" in a bizarre approximation of the pidgin that is supposed to be my native tongue, despite the fact that, like most "black" people (as opposed to African immigrants or Caribbean island-dwellers), my family has been in this country since the Founding and I speak Standard English. Oh, wait, worse than that is a white liberal politician pandering to sexagenarian congregationalists in a black church around election time, rhyming his words and singing hymns, as if all contemporary Negroes do is harmonize spirituals on the plantation. See, e.g., Al Gore, John Kerry, and Howard Dean.

As for George W. Bush hugging black people, at least we know he's not afraid to touch them in public. Bush treats them like human beings instead of a voting bloc. Somehow I don't think it'd be a problem in the Bush family if one of Bush's daughters married a black dude. Kerry I can imagine fuming and sputtering out racist epithets. Believe it or not, that matters. The most significant part of the phrase "black people" is "people". Democrats usually don't act as if that is the case, and that's exactly how it registers.

The only reason black people vote for Democrats, according to political scientists, is they don't see any other viable alternative. It doesn't mean they actually like Democrats, or think they're exemplars of perfection. Let me give you an example.

There seems to be a big push in the Democratic Party not for decriminalization of sodomy (which was already achieved by Lawrence v. Texas), but for active public blessing of gay marriage: i.e., gay marriage is good, there should be more gay marriage, gay relationships are wonderful, great, fantastic. I don't remember any push for interracial marriages as wonderful alternatives to 'conventional' marriage, just the mere, bare, austere, silent tacit recognition that it shouldn't be criminal. In case you're wondering, the reason Republicans pushed the gay marriage issue as a wedge during 2004 was to point out Democratic hypocrisy -- pro-gay love, but seemingly not pro-interracial love. It was not to stoke antigay sentiment amongst blacks, as is popularly reported. Blacks were not swayed by hatred for gays; they were shocked to realize that the civil rights movement as it is traditionally defined is on the back-burner in the Democratic Party. Apparently, white liberals think a man and a man getting it on is a better idea than one of their daughters and a black dude.

But what do I know? I'm not omniscient like white liberals are.

La Shawn,

I listen to Pundit Review every Sunday nite since they've been on the air. My biggest complaint is that they are on for only 1 hour. Maybe you could stress that point to them. I'll be listening.
