I know someone who became a born-again Christian, and her Muslim uncle said he will kill her if he ever finds her. And her Muslim family has totally disowned her.

Fair enough. Looking at it now, I see I wasn’t clear. My bad.

My point was intended to demonstrate that while our culture is one that is good overall, we have our blemishes and problems. I didn’t intend to equalize the situations, which I see it looks like I was trying to do.

Are you saying that we werenâ€™t so evolved a few decades ago? True.

Decades and now if you really want to look into it.

Look, this society is full of filth and depravity. Showtime has a “reality series” that glorifies the “life” of a porn director. MTV has a “reality series” that glorifies the depravity of strangers living in a house together. We live in local governments that interfere with family members who want to save a child or children from irresponsible parents, to only place the child or children in a foster system that is broken. And then when said children wind up in the streets, turning tricks, “we” just click “our” tongues and shake “our” heads.

This post just happen to hit me at the wrong time.

Oh, and if anyone in the D.C. area wants to check out some work by “women libbers”, maybe they need to check out H.I.P.S.

Are you saying that we weren’t so evolved a few decades ago? True. Are people supposed to argue with you about that? It’s like you want to hold the U.S. or the republicans or conservatives to all past sins and not realize any evolving.

Word of advice to you. Liberals and Conservatives 30 years ago were TOTALLY different. Learn what we think now and argue in the present. Mischaracterizing doesn’t advance your argument it weakens it.

Careful, La Shawn, you’ll hurt a liberal’s feelings and, as we’ve seen demonstrated on this blog, many equate injured feelings with broken bones. By the way, I disagree about Kennedy’s diet at Gitmo. Cut him off from alcohol and the carbohydrate content of his diet will decrease dramatically.

We’re not saying it’s unnacaeptable because these people are muslims. We are saying it is not acceptable for ANYONE, period. It is the stance of many in that community, however, that this is their culture and religion and therefore off limits to criticizism.
