Remember when the Taliban destroyed the ancient Buddhas in Afghanistan? They were at war with us even before then, but that was the point at which I knew it. I'm not a Buddhist, and wasn't even a Christian at the time. But I knew that any ideology that was willing to erase the signs of other cultures in order to prop itself up was not going to stop at just signs.

It is time to erase the signs of Islam from the earth. Not to prop up Christianity - but to prop up civilization. Civilization has no place for these people.

Goodbye to the Dome of the Rock. Goodbye to Mecca. Give them one week to evacuate and then goodbye. This will be the start of the shrivelling of their cancerous ideology. I say also goodbye to the Alhambra and any other outposts of the ancient Muslim empire. Just like our current coddling of prisoners and our measured response to their ever-growing atrocities, our reverence for such places, tempting as it may be to maintain it, ONLY GIVES THEM IDEAS.

Actus, you're misconstruing what others have said in order to present what Durbin thinks as if it was equivalent.

Our point is that Durbin is a delusional hack that happens to hold the # 2 position. We're not concerned with how & why he thinks, just the fact that what he thinks is moonbattery.

As for internal memos, stuff happens all the time. Just as FBI agents wrote in prior to 9/11 requesting action on several suspects and were ignored or told to stand down because what they were saying was unacceptable as it would rock the boat. Why would it be any different when an agent writes from Gitmo seeking to rock the boat.

Why would it be any different when some Generals disagree? This is all part of the process and proves that Generals are independent thinkers. There has been disagreements with Rumsfeld, there has been disagreements with Cohen. In fact, there has always been Generals disagreeing with every SecDef and CINC back to day one. The only thing that remains constant is once a decision is made, one either fall in or get out. Why would it be any different in State Dept or with any other agency?

This is akin to a situation a while back where I wrote an internal memo concerning deficient QA/QC issues. I said the things were seriously wrong, others said that I was chicken little. When the decision was made to discount my concerns, I resigned -- it's that simple. After the FAA was done, all but 2 from the top to middle management were terminated. The moral here is that sometimes the 'sky is falling', but not just on someone's say-so. Serious charge(s) has to be considered within the big picture.

Your hobby is taking any detracting piece that and resting your defense.

"That’s my point Actus. I saw it and I saw the redactions and my immediate thought is that you can’t verify anything that was written"

well, you can verify that it was an FBI agent writing to his superior right? not one writing to the media. I tihnk these guys write accurately to their superiors. what other motivation could he have had in that situation? he'd want to lie to a superior? thinking that one day, this might get FOIA'd and make the media?

"You bring in Durbin as if he spoke God’s truth when the factual trends run counter to his misleading spin."

I didn't bring in durbin. Someone else asked what Durbin would think of detaining these people. I replied that he would probably think that we shouldn't do to them what was in those FBI documents. Now, That's just what he thinks. whether you think that's true or not is different.

Dear all,

Perhaps this has been said already, but if so, it bears repeating anyway:

Blaming the London bombing on Britain's participation in the Iraq war misses the point.

It may well be true that anger at Britain's alliance with the US in Iraq was one of the psychological motivations behind the attack.

BUT: even if the bombers wanted to make a political statement to the effect that Britain should get out of Iraq; even if we agree that Britain (and everyone else) should get out of Irak---the fact remains that the bombers have (to say the least) put themselves beyond the pale of reasonable political debate about the Irak war.

Which means that their "vote" doesn't count. At all. What they did, in other words, was not a political statement that could ever have equal political significance with, say, debate among the citizens of Britain about whether to go into Irak or not.

True, one could argue, as some have done in this thread, that this newest outrage is a proof that the Iraq war hasn't made us safer. That may be true. But it is also at least as true that people who are willing to blow up innocent civilians---and the strategy existed long before Iraq---don't have to wait for excuses. There is always one handy.

In other words: whatever the merits of the Irak venture; whatever causal role it may have played in Madrid and London---the fact remains that Islamist terrorism is not simply a response to injustices, real and/or imagined on our side (Lord knows there are plenty of those, but is also an irrational ideology that blesses the mass killing of innocent civilians.

We can't afford to forget that for a second.

These bombs were left by local boys with local fish to fry.

I have just come over from LGF. A few people there have pointed out that Abu Hamza’s trial was about to start. It has now been deferred. I think these ‘dopes are home grown. You’ll find them by turning over Finchley, Earls Court and other Arab-infested areas. That letter on the website is a total red herring. It’s a crude attempt to attribute these crimes to a group that never existed.

The Yankee Confederate has pointed out that for a mass-bombing campaign,it has been remarkably ineffective. This is only going to make us mad. I left a comment there.

It’s time to turn over some rocks, then expose and humiliate the rabble-rousing mullahs who parasitise our society.

Actus, SCSI & Bak pretty much covered my point. You bring in Durbin as if he spoke God's truth when the factual trends run counter to his misleading spin.

The simple fact is that there WAS/IS oversight from the get-go at Gitmo. Isolated incidents do not a trend make. Ultimately your position is that Gitmo must go and today's calamity just made a FOOL out of your position.

This is where you comprehension of both cause and effect and the written word is totally out of whack. Do us a favor and shut up already with the nuanced jibber-jabber.

Safer than if Al Gore, John Kerry or the other leading dems were running the show.
I wonder how many leftist and assorted cowards blamed Churchill's hard line against Hitler for the air raids on London?
