I was (am) taking a break from this site and the political world in general. I’m disgusted by all of it. People take freedom for granted, as if the world is supposed to be that way. Anarchy is the default position, not democracy.
To remain a free nation, we have to defend, sacrifice, and fight for it. We have to recognize threats and call them what they are. How can we “fight terrorism” without admitting who the enemy is or pretending not to know?
For our own survival, we must be willing to eliminate that which seeks to eliminate us. Anything less is suicidal. While we fiddle and philosophize, Rome burns all around us. We hurl insults and accusations at each other, spewing mind-numbing syllogisms about “freedom of religion,” while evil cloaks itself with religion to destroy the very system that allows it, foolishly, to flourish. Unbelievable.
With boldness and without the dead weight of “tolerance” on their backs, Islamofascists are on a global rampage. With no one in power willing to stop them. Talk is so cheap, and the politically correct chatter wafting from the White House (yeah, right) is just as disgusting as the meandering drivel coming from the left.
Perhaps my focus is all wrong. I’m too much with this world, I suspect, straining to hear what needs to be said and longing to read what needs to be written. The past few days I’ve spent outside the political blogosphere have been…delightful. I’m reluctant to return, I confess.

La Shawn,
I agree with you 100%. While I was on vacation a couple of weeks ago, I purposefully avoided getting entangled in any political discourse, and stayed away from the web, TV and radio. I found that it was quite refreshing. The only problem with doing that, is that I knew in the back of my mind that all those things I dread about the the world today were continuing on.
Of course, as a practical matter, there’s not really much I can do as an individual to influence the course of events, but there IS strength in numbers, and together we might all be able to do some good if we remain vigilant. Remaining constantly vigilant can be nerve wracking and frustrating though, so it requires one to take some R&R periodically, as you have found out.
I fear though, that at some point most of the people with any common sense and sanity will get tired of fighting and external battle with terrorism, while at the same time fighting an internal battle with the left in this country, and simply let them have it. I wonder how the leftists would fare under “Sharia law”? It’s ALMOST entertaining to contemplate.
Hey lady,
Let go. What will be, will be. We just trust that His will will out.
Enjoy the world.
BTW-
Remember, they can’t win. They can only scare and frighten us, but they can’t win. Guerilla tactics are effective in driving out an occuping force, but completely ineffective at invading another land. Eventually, either they’ll fall in line or be destroyed. They know it too. The London bombing was a recruitment tool, more than anything else. They’re running out of troops, no matter what Michael Savage says on his program.
Enough politics. Enjoy DC in the summer, go to dinner at B.Smiths (one of my faves) and “do you!”
I was wondering where you were. I was frantically checking the site for updates..
I too am physically exhausted with politics.
To me it’s not about left vs right. It’s about all of us pointing fingers at each other and totally forgetting how to be civil.
I truly believe that the media (and this emcompasses all media) has whipped us all into such a frenzy that families don’t speak to each other, friendships end, neighbors don’t speak because of politicians who continue to get rich because of sound bites that cause us to rip each other to shreds.
It’s pathetic and sad. I’m not going to be apart of it.
LaShawn if you need to refresh and renew, by all means do so. You certainly have earned it.
I can’t say much more than you just perfectly explained how I feel and what I’ve been thinking.
Keep your chin up, La Shawn…

About this, you are spot on. Any doubts? Have a look at this flash presentation:

Cheers,
It is mind boggling that in London, they don’t want to insult the terrorists by calling them terrorists…instead calling them ‘bombers…’.
Amazing.
You can’t pacify these people. To the thugs, you are either a extremist muslum or not. If you are not in the ‘not’ catagory, they want you dead.
Terrorists are murderers that have been brain washed into thinking that somehow killing others brings them more rewards. They are cowardly…striking at those who have no way to defend themselves.
In London…it seems the thought is….”Gee…let’s not make them mad….” Well, I am afraid to burst their bubble, because they already have struck a deadly blow to many people there.
I wrote about this exhaustion with politics this very day. Click on the link to my blog if you are interested.
Take a break, La Shawn, then come back.
Good will triumph. But only by a hair.
Hey La Shawn,
Return to your first love.
ME TOO!
See this comment re a email I just sent to the WSJ re the state of the MSM and their lack of coverage on significant events occurring in the world while they’re glued to the Rove Affair. This is a tempest in a teapot.
At the same time a very couragous and brave Iranian journalist is literally putting his life on the line to garner the world’s attention to the Iranian people’s struggle for freedom from the Islamofascist ruling theocracy.
A little balance folks.

What is numbing is the failure to realize that Islamofacists only distinguish between themselves and everyone else. There are no “innocents”, no “civillians”. Only those who subscribe to their world-wide vision/conquest or infidels. They want to kill us all. The failure to recognize this evil is disgusting.
You’ll probably be more energized by doing good works with your business. I recently took an 8 day vacation and didn’t blog or look at a blog one day. It was a needed relief. That’s why we take vacations in the first place. Enjoy your time away, and we pray and wait for the time when you are refreshed.
God Bless!!!
Sorry that you’re getting burned out. I miss your commentary. Thanks for the link to “jihad watch.” I’ve started reading “Islam at the Crossroads.” “Perfect Soldiers” is next. I’m open to recommendations.
God Bless you.
Good work La Shawn.
I see a lot of this as dimwitted attempts by the MSM/DNC (false prophets blinded by their own ‘wisdom’ actually) to dull our senses to the oncoming storm. Much like the frog in the slow, but ever heating pot.
Satan knows his dominion over earth is temporal and seeks to destroy as many as possible in his fit of rage as his final act draws to a close.
Revelations 11 is going to be interesting in light of recent claims that Dome on the Rock is not really sitting on the original temple — the courtyard perhaps, but not the temple. Also the coming of the two prophets who will torment the world for their hypocrisy and sinfulness, be killed and resurrected to have the last laugh.
In any case, the oft-stated wish of muslims to completely wipe out the seed of Jacob will be in vain. The question is which side you and I will be on? On the side of Israel, or the world (sKerry’s global test)? That is the only thing that ultimately matters politically.
Sometimes you just have to do that LaShawn. I ain’t madatcha whereas I figured that is what you were doing.
Go one and decompress pretty lady. Way too much buffoonery out there in the news to let if flood your brain and steal your joy.
Take your time and when you get back, I’ll be raising your blood pressure again.
Love ya!
LaShawn:
I’ve been exactly where you are many times over the last year. And, I hate to say this to someone who I admire and who I consider an ally but…
STOP WHINING AND GET BACK TO WORK!
Yes its hard to get pummelled day after day by these creeps. And yes it gets tiresome to watch the political games being played while our enemies calmly, and with great deliberation, sit in an apartment or a house somewhere – perhaps very close to where you live – and plot to kill dozens, hundreds, thousands, MILLIONS OF US!
The stakes are too high to give in to self pity or concentrate on our own feelings of inadequacy or despair.
These are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated.
Thomas Paine wrote those words in December of 1776 as Washington’s soldiers were freezing to death with no food and no shoes and no hope. But two weeks later, they crossed the Delaware river and took Trenton and Princeton.
So buck up, stop sniveling and get back to work. If what you write on this site gives hope to just one person, you’re doing the job the good Lord intended.
LaShawn,
I’ve been saying the EXACT same thing for years. We’re too PC to do what needs to be done for fear of ‘offending’ someone. Bah..
At any rate, take the time….enjoy your freedom from the blog…..pray….introspection is a good thing….Find a new balance…and then you’ll be ready to come back. And LaShawn…if you EVER run for office, I *WILL* vote for you if I can.
President Barber! YES!!
Dan
Glad you’re back though
.
The “political correctness” you speak of is an almost uniquely American thing. Terrorism is a worldwide issue. When left-leaners like Ken Livingstone can step up and tell it like it is, and the Australian opposition leader says they need to “finish the job” in Afghanistan, and the Daily Star in London has the screaming headline “B*STARDS”, that tells me the rest of the world is setting the bar for Islamofascist outrage, not us. After 9/11, we bought flowers and sympathy cards, after 7/7, Britons bought pints of beer. The rest of the world simply will not tolerate “tolerance”, and if the U.S. is to take the lead on the War on Terror, this must be acknowledged. Rest if you must, but don’t retire. We’ve gotta keep the message out there. The enemy makes no distinctions between our petty differences.
Joe, then why does the BBC and Reuters insist on calling the terrorists bombers, rather than what they are?
No, PC isn’t just an American disease. It infests the western nations, side by side with socialism, moral relativism and a host of other insipid isms.
LB,
Do what you need to do. Aside from the posts on other blogs, I’ve been unable to muster the mojo to blog politics or events for a month or so now. Do what brings you pleasure, or at least leaves you feeling clear at the end of a day.
You’re not the only one who is nearly at an end with the vicious invective on blogs. Kim du Toit also said “Enough!” I haven’t felt the need, being, as I am, a relatively small fish who doesn’t attract the attention of sharks.
May I suggest adding some balance to your life? Limit perusal of political blogs to around 1/2 of your online time. Make a point of visiting Christian sites; spend more offline time around positive people.
If you have reached your temporary limit, consider following up on your thought to add guest bloggers. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing; why not try it 2 days a week, at first. I just thought of something – try out-sourcing comment deletion to someone else. Why should you spend so much time with trolls?
Good points, Linda.
I’m still trying to figure out how Rick Moran’s comments were useful or encouraging.
La Shawn, I know how you feel. I have not been a blogger for as long as you have, but I still feel frustrated with the direction the world is heading in & my own inability to have an impact.
However, I do believe that we must continue to speak, for if we don’t the other side will be more than happy to fill in. It is only when the truth is silent can evil have its way. This why we are called to be witnesses to the message of Christ. History happens because ordinary people do extraordinary things out of the courage of their convictions.
Take a break by all means. You deserve one, but please don’t give up your writing. I look forward to seeing you back, refreshed & re-energized.
La Shawn,
While I won’t be so blunt as to say, “stop sniveling and get back to work,” I will say that we must continue to fight the good fight. Remember the prophets in the Old Testament that preached for years, even decades, without a single soul paying them any attention. Keep your head up!
Glad to see you are ok. I was worried about you. I will be praying for you as you recharge your batteries.
Hey sister!
I’m discovering that a few days of no internet and no news every now and then is a vitamin for life. God the Father and Jesus the Son set the example. Ya gotta rest regularly! The Lasagne, garlic bread and Cabernet are on me.
I am with you La Shawn. The nausea factor sinked in for me within the past few months and hit an all time high in the past few weeks. “This world” is controlled by the darkness until the designated time. I take comfort in knowing we (believers) are not of this world and that our ruler is Jesus the Christ. When I look at it for what it is and read the Word, it all makes sense and the peace comes (doesn’t make it easier because we are still of the flesh).
My prayers are with you.
Welcome back.
If I may be so bold to ask our host a question:
When you use the word “Islamofacist,” do you mean:
(1) an extremist, fundamentalist, evil SUBSET of pseudo-Muslims who distort their religion to subjugate other Muslims, and who use violence to ruthlessly kill innocents in order to further their nihilistic ends,
—OR—
(2) Islam and facism are part and parcel of the same thing… that facisms is inherent to Islam, and therefore “Islamofacist” generally applies to virtually all Muslims…
The reason I ask is that in the comments from July 8, a number of your regular commentors seemed to endorse option 2…
If that is indeed the case, then exactly WHY are we in Iraq trying to establish a democracy if facism is endemic to Islamthere is some cognitive dissonance here.
Note that conservatives (including Dr. Rice) have often claimed that liberals are racist for saying that democracy will fail in the Middle East because it is incompatible with their belief system…yet it appears to me that the tide is turning, and many conservatives are now implicitly endorsing the view that democracy cannot succeed in Muslim society because it is inherently facist.
Wow! A lot of folks telling you what to do. I’m sure all have the best intentions.
I’m not smart enough to give you any advice, however, if I WERE I’d say, be true to yourself and listen to your inner voice: you’ll know what to do and when.
Good luck!
When I was in the propaganda machine called Education, I was really at my wits’ end. I was one of the few (literally) people who did not want to destroy this country via hateful Marxist ideas.
I haven’t become apathetic, but more prayerful than before. I have a burden for this country, and if people want to keep their heads in the sand, I’ll still keep praying for this country every day.
So that’s what I suggest to you, too–keep speaking up, but instead of getting discouraged, keep praying because we need people to call out to God for help while everyone runs around in blindness.
I feel yah, LB.
#29 MJ. That is good advice for all of us.
LaShawn you’re back!
Well sorta, I guess. I understand that you would want a break since it gets kinda rambunctious at times. I agree with mj, pray. It helps me and gives me comfort. Enjoy your break, I’ll be glad when you come back.
For what it is worth, I (and I’m sure most all here agree) look up to you and appreciate your words and thoughts, you inspire me to ponder things from different POV and speak out when I might not otherwise. Life wouldn’t be the same with a daily dose of LBC!
Take of yourself, ya hear!
Uh,
My parting comment should’ve read
“Take care of yourself, ya hear”. And to think I proof read it before I sent it . . . Let me add hurry back! too.
I want to point out that periodically, throughout his ministry, Jesus would pull apart from the crowds to (regrow himself?) alone or just with his disciples.
If Jesus had to do this, how much more us as we go along should be giving ourselves time to pull apart and refresh?
I’ve missed ya, LaShawn, but I totally understand needing a break.
La Shawn, I hope that you will be able to keep up the good fight. Your web site touches many lives.
“Sin” is the default condition of mankind and the world we live in. Thus, good people must always be dependent of and follow our Lord Jesus Christ.
And, as expressed by C.S. Lewis, “good people know about both bad and evil; bad people do not know about either.”
Man oh man, do I hear you LaShawn…..I’ve had to back away too from much of the news….it is disheartening to see the blindness and evil out there….but we must remember……all these tribulations and sorrow must come to pass before Christ’s return…….evil is on the march and having her day…..but Good wins in the end..
Also, sorry about my outburst on the other thread……that’s exactly what I am talking about……I am so sick of liberal boobery but I am not handling my temper very well these days…
My bad too be sure…
Proud Albertan, dealing with insipid fools does try the temper.
LB…I understand your feelings, totally…but remember Psalm 23 “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death…” We walk through…we don’t stay. We live in really tough times. Some days its hard to see any goodness in life or people…but we have to keep moving forward in this life that He’s given us and remember His ultimate and eternal sovereignty. We all feel the pain in that moment, but we can’t “move in” with it. You have a lot of people on this blog that really care about you. None of us really know each other, but most of us seem to share a bond with you, through Him. Rejoice in that and keep going. You have so, so much to give. God Bless you.
As far as those Londonders go, remember the cops don’t even carry guns over there. So much for keeping the peace.
Totally understand your frustrations, La Shawn. Take a breather but please come back! The blogosphere would not be the same without you.
God bless,
–ST
Oh boy Andy ain’t that the truth but I have to learn to control my tongue to say the least….I appreciate how many of the posters here are always polite…..alas, I am not one of them….yet….
Well please be polite when you’re on my blog. – Admin
I understand you completly. I have been so busy the last 2 weeks I haven’t had a chance to keep up with what’s been going on and it’s great! I know, I know, keep hitting your site but wait it’s been so nice…..Now I’m torn……
Thank you for your patience, honesty and generosity.
You are a bright light to many and I appreciate how much time and energy is required to manage this site.
I know what you mean about being fed up with politics. They are all so interested in themselves and their party they are not getting done the jobs we elected them to do. Both sides are guilty and I’m fed up with it too. I constantly pray God will stop the petty bickering and allow our lawmakers to act as adults and do the right thing. Only He knows if it will happen.
La Shawn,
I agree with much of your comments regarding your disgust with politics and responses from folks regarding same.
What I found during my many years of GOP activism is that unscrupulous folks will take advantage of our disgust. If we want to make a difference by influencing events we must get engaged. Of course there are degrees of involvement to suit availability.
Personally, I do not want to self assign myself to the outside complaining about conditions of blacks. It takes just as much energy for frustration than it does being part of the change process.
If folks enjoy keeping their heads in the sand that is another matter which I have no solution.

Read “State of Fear” by Michael Crighton. It is very applicable to what the media is doing.
This blog and La Shawn’s convictions and courage have been inspirational to me, especially when I first got here–I was in a rut. If things that I’m pursuing work out (and I have a feeling they will), it will be partly because of this blog.
I’m too much with this world, I suspect, straining to hear what needs to be said and longing to read what needs to be written
La Shawn sweetie, perhaps that’s the problem.
Maybe you need to SAY what needs to be said and WRITE what needs to be written.
God has given you a gift. I repeat: You. Have. A. Gift.
USE IT!!
Lotsa love,
FTC
