I tire of a bunch of folks from the outside putting the black community under a microscope solely for the purpose of put down, trying to convince the world that nothing good comes our of it. They ignore that most blacks don’t listen to rap music. They ignore that most blacks are middle class and have received no benefit from the pointless affirmative action. But let them find a problem and see how it is thrown in our faces of how inferior the black man is.

Heavy Metal is noise. LOUD screaming noisy music void of any rhythm. You are a hypocrite. You want to defend some satanic, suicidal, gender bending, apocalyptic, godless music as being better than rap.

And again, someone pointed out to you “cause and effect”. Thugs created gangsta rap, not the other way around. A lot of rap doesn’t fit into this category yet those are ignored. Gangsta rap would be close to being history if not for its biggest audience, white youth. You can go around with the strawman tactic of citing statistics about black problems all day, and trying to point out the most negative things you can find. I’m sure you enjoy doing that, but it doesn’t change the fact that heavy metal is a vile form of music on par with gangsta rap if not worse. So deal with it.

While I understand your frustration, and to a large degree share your thoughts, please understand that there is more to hip-hop music (as with heavy metal, and insert-your-favorite-maligned-artform-here) than just the immediate generalities that you are missing.

No music makes anyone do anything. PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY.

If ( and Raymond, I am NOT speaking to you here, I don’t know you) your son/daughter is a knucklehead…don’t blame rap music. They have some (sometimes all) the responsibility for the decisions that they made. The music isn’t anything more than what it is, music.

Heavy Metal unlike rap and hip-hop (not that I am defending HM) requires musical AND instrumental talent. All hip-hop requires is a few nasty females shaking what their 13 year older mothers gave them and the ability to curse. Heavy Metal requires the ability to play a guitar, a keyboard, drums, and other instruments but I digress.

White people are not saddled with 70% out of wedlock birth rates. A disturbing number of their men are not in jail on drugs, gay or on their way to either. White folk are not using being a rapper or basketball player as viable career choices.

The lunatics you mention who do stupid things in white America amount to a bed mite on an elephant’s butt compared to the percentage of our people who are shooting bad due to a sick culture called the hip-hop culture. I would dare say the even “being Black” is nothing to be proud of anymore seeing as how it is defined.

Those who do act like fools would act like fools with or without rap. Those white kids who make suicide pacts, cut themselves, and do drugs would do so with or without metal. Doesn’t change the fact that metal is at least as equally vile as gangsta rap.

As for you statement about lyrics on the front page, blame the mainstream media for putting all of its attention on rap as opposed to metal.

Twisted sister is a good example of confusing gender roles. You convenient list what may be the least vile artists while ignoring Megadeth, Black Messiah, Ozzy Osborne, Marylin Manson, etc. Nice try.

Rap music has little effect on middle class blacks and poor whites seemingly don’t generally listen to Heavy Metal. Doesn’t change the fact that Heavy Metal is generally low quality music that promotes very un-Christian ideals. So lets not be such a hypocrite.
