About speaking at conferences: Good job on C-Span2–I just came across it accidentally–I didn’t know you were speaking today. You always speak calmly. And I liked your statement about your “active comments section.”

Business writing is the easiest type of writing to get into. When you keep doing well, people will refer you to the point that you will be very busy. Believe me, I’ve had to turn off the spiggot a few times to pursue other stuff.

It’s also quite easy to get business books published. I helped someone out with a couple of them and saw the whole process. During this year, you will see what I’m talking about.

In this context I consider you a political blogger, but your identity isn’t limited to that–the more you grow with your other kind of writing you will also be known in that context.

The great thing about our wonderful country is that you can achieve what you want in the business community if you do a good job and are professional. It is such a great field because hard work pays off and people respect it, unlike public institutions where it’s not about talent.

Dell, do a search in the forum, and if you can’t find the topic, start a new thread. Some of those people spend hours just answering questions like yours.

I like Word Press as well, although I haven’t figured out yet how to insert html code into particular post so I can have streaming video on the post. Right now you have to link it to a non-Word Press site.

La Shawn: There is an old “truism” that everything that begins in mystery, ends in politics.

I own a VW that is a great little car with a “few” stupid flaws. Every once in a while the radio does not come on. If I pull fuse 16 and put it back in, the radio is “fixed.” How did I learn that? Not from Volkwagen, but from a chat area on VW’s on the net.

When I talked to a VW bigwig about running an active website for owners I got a “corporate” answer about undermining service departments, unauthorized fixes that might ruin warranties, hurting sales by having minor problems blown out of proportion,etc. (The VW slogan in “Drivers Wanted”; what a hoot.)

That is what I mean about it all being politics.

I am rooting for you all the way, but I am sorry to say, you will never escape being a “political” blogger.

“Blog for good, not for evil.” I like that rule.

Howzabout inventing a better word for blogging? When I first heard the term, I didn’t know what it meant, but it sounded like something in the refrigerator that needed to be cleaned up.

As for the wanting part, La Shawn, I say go for it without any guilt. Wanting stuff, and living in a country where you can get it, is a good thing.
