"Only a solidly conservative message heavy on God, Christianity, personal responsibilty, anti-homosexuailty, fiscal and economic empowerment and opportunity to participate in the American process will sell.

Pandering to REAL Blacks will not sell. You have to give them the same message of hope that is given to “white” America.

Comment by Raymond"

Yeah! What he said.

Americans have much more in common with each other than they must...or the Democrat view of world would have us think.

Americans was peace, prosperity, security, freedom, access and opportunities for education, work and other success; and to be able to enjoy the fruits of their labor. The things we disagree about are relatively minor in the grand scheme of things.

Poor people of any hue have similar concerns. Middle class folks have similar issues despite race. I don't know too many rich people, but I assume they have similar problems and goals.

I have never been affiliated with a political party. As I'e gotten older, I've become more discriminating about what organizations I lend my name to, e.g. I am no longer an active member of either of the professional psychiatric organizations because I disagree with too much of the "public policy" stuff they put out.

IMHO complaining that the GOP doesn't "reach out" to blacks is insulting. I am much more than black. Being black is generally not at the top of my list of concerns. Issues associated with being black are generally not at the top of my list of concerns because...I'm too busy living my life!

My main concerns are national security, the economy, retirement, etc. In essence, for lack of a better term, my major concerns are "color-blind." So I tend to find messages "for blacks", or "for women" or "for people who wear glasses" a bit demeaning and insulting because most of us--on a day to day level--don't have the luxury to be worrying about issues so specific to one characteristic of our being when we're trying to make sure the bills are covered, the car is registered, the kids are learning, etc.

Awesome downingworld link! It is so good to see an alternative viewpoint - especially when it's an alternative to the racial grief parade.

Dell, just wanted to let you know I thought you meant let demographics dictate policy when you wrote, "Republicans need to change their language" to win over the black community. I visited your blog and completely understand your position after reading your further clarification in the comments section. I think you are on to something. Conservatives probably do need to change their marketing strategy in the black community just as long as the message itself remains intact. I left a comment on your blog as well.

Hey Lashawn - I'm truly honored to be your favorite Christian blogger. You are my favorite political blogger and I am not saying that just to suck up to you. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks and let you know I appreciate you and your work very much.

Sometime in September I'm going to try to plan a get together for bloggers in the Baltimore - Washington DC - Northern, VA area - I hope you can make it so we can meet face to face. I'll talk with you off line about it when some dates start shaping up.

La Shawn,

Thanks for another plug this week. This has been a week of largely attacking Darwinism on the blog. It's been fun :-)

Thanks to you LBC faithful who have come by ...I appreciate it and hope you'll come by regularly as I attempt to write intelligent worldview analysis (and promote a biblical worldview).

La Shawn #59,

Yep. I bite my tongue here. I laugh. I say things like "can you believe it" after they say the things they say. If you were to put a mirror next to my ears though you'd see a steamed up mirror. :)

"<em>She still can change her mind though.</em>"

Sure can. The quibble that Malkin writes about is the fact that the press isn't reporting 2 things generally:
1) Cindy already met with Bush for an extended period of time
2) Cindy said some quite different statements after meeting with Bush the first time.

It isn't about Cindy more or less. It's about how the press is using Cindy and not reporting certain facts. And what is funny about the press alignment is the fact that Cindy thinks Bush "stole" the election and thinks this is an "illegal" war. The press is showing their bias vividly (for the 100th time). That's what the story is about.... I believe....

No? Just all the liberals sitting here in CA State government jobs around me then.... :) Their vitriol is terrible.

When Condi was nominated for SOS, you should've heard the people here talking.... talking about her as if she was:
1) evil
2) dumber than anything and incompetent

When Cindy Sheehan was being interviewed by Keith Olberman, she said something rather amazing...He said, after looking around at all of the press camped out, that maybe she was better off not meeting with the president. She looked at him, smiled, and said in her baby voice, "Yes,you're right! It's great! I hope I never meet with Bush, because it would stop the momentum we've got going...But, I don't want to give away the secret." This was literally one minute after she was saying that she just wanted five minutes with Bush.......
