“Verbal panhandling” has been banned in downtown Atlanta. A city official finally does something that makes sense. But…according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (bypass with BugMeNot):
An individual, however, still can stand on a corner and ask for money with a sign. This exception was introduced to make the ordinance easier to defend in court, the city law department has said.
Begging is a “right,” you see. Dumbed-down country we live in. Well, the mayor is black, so she can’t be called a racist for prohibiting grown, able-bodied men from harassing people for money as if you owe them. When was the last time you encountered a “beggar?” Aggressive, healthy-looking lot, aren’t they?
