A couple of readers wanted to know how things were going with the comment-less blog and whether my stats were down as a result.
The answer to the first question is, “Great!” Should’ve disabled comments a long time ago. The energy I used to expend dealing with trolls and playing referee is now spent doing what I was born to do: write! More productive writing schedule, fewer headaches…I don’t miss comments at all; however, I apologize in advance to bloggers who’ve inherited or will inherit my former trolls.
The answer to the second question is, “No!” In fact, my traffic has slightly increased and will continue to climb. With more time to write, I’m getting more done. I’ve got dozens of traffic-generating projects lined up. Today I’m sending an op-ed to a well-known conservative site, and it may be up later this week. Within the next week or so, I’m submitting an opinion/feature article to another high-profile political web site. The biweekly column will resume, and the PR machine is warming up.
Some poor sap wondered if I were trying to “ruin” my blog by shutting down comments. (Can you believe it?) In other words, LBC will survive only if numbskulls like himself are allowed to publicly impart daily wisdom at my expense (literally). Arrogant, and if it weren’t so sad, funny. Most of you have been respectful on this blog, but the few bad apples made the whole bunch an exercise in futility.
The wasted time is spilled milk, but I’m ready to make up for it by publishing widely and often, bringing even more readers to the blog. Rumors of my traffic decline (and my demise?) are greatly exaggerated, and that’s not arrogance; it’s a fact.
Thanks for reading LBC.
Update: Blogger DL Foster has reached the boiling point with spam and troll harassment. There’s a fix for the spam; trolls, can’t help you there.
Unrelated: Discriminations is one of my daily reads, and I highly recommend it. Yesterday John blogged about a Washington Post review of When Affirmative Action Was White.
Let’s just turn this into a round-up post, shall we?
