If you or someone else you know wants to take a short American culture quiz, go to http://www.metrolingua.com/quiz.htm (I created it based on non-Americans' questions).

I'm going to create Part 2 of the quiz, so if there's anything you want to know or anything you want the world to know about American culture, please contact me or leave a comment at my blog.

Don't know if this is excellent, but I posted about the question of whether the Paris insurrection is "organized" or "spontaneous", at:

I bought advance tickets and my oldest daughter and I will be attending the 12:01 a.m. premiere and getting in line an hour early to secure decent seats. :D

Yesterday, I bought her Bertie Bott's, Chocolate Frogs, and Fizzing Whizbees. I even braved Hot Topic (eww) to purchase an HP t-shirt for her to wear. These are all a surprise for her to open the night we go.

I can't wait. I got a widget for my dashboard when there were 190 days until the opening :D

La Shawn:

I heard an experienced British security officer discuss the French and Argentine riots.

The French situation was as discussed by many - a result of the French welfare state treating these thugs gently. Their security apparatus is weak, and the thugs know it.

For the Argentines, the officer said they were simply unprepared. They should have, because the players are the same professional Communists who disrupt any free-trade conference.

Following the observation that Venezuela, Brazil, and Argentina have Leftist leaning governments, could it be that the Argentine security admninstration stayed in the background and let the riots occur, in part of a statement of their own Communist leanings. Just a perfect oppornity to bash Bush.

Most of this is symbolic, because the US is Argentina's largest trading partner, and is likely to remain so.

There is nothing better for "World Peace" than trade, and Chavez is about to be locked out.
